Puppet mentality with childish mindset. Some of the people stare and will test your patience if you can’t afford to get locked up. I shall fear no man but God. Oh the town is set up. Single black women that are not from Texas moving to El Paso watch out, them ppl will stalk you and plays childish games. They lie so good that they can sell ice to an Eskimo. I don’t have a slave mentality so being disliked doesn’t bother me, I’m chosen but to use hatred to form a hate train shows you what ppl pulls the strings not just in EP. Make sure you are in your right state of mind and don’t ignore your discernment. You live and you learn.

I’m from the northern part of the US and want to live in a warmer, sunnier climate. I’m a roofing handyman and install roofs, skylights ect and enjoy working outside with my hands and tools. Is there a lot of competition in my line of work and is it possible to make a living there?

Wanted to leave a comment for whoever stumbles across this video.. so check it out ONLY move to El Paso for these reasons - starting/advancing in your career - trying to save money since it’s a cheap place to live. But to end on a good note I must say the views were incredible and being close to the west coast was cool but if you’ve ever heard the saying “stuck in the middle of the desert” that is exactly where you will be and exactly how you will feel 😂 but I do travel there frequently to see old friends so definitely check it out cause it might be for you

Did you grow up in the Northeast of El Paso? This is why I ask. NE is different than the rest of El Paso because a lot of the NE is Ft. Bliss transfers. They tend to bring their prejudices with them from where they came from. Even the Hispanics that live in the NE tend to pick up those prejudices from the Ft Bliss transfers (do unto them before they do unto you). Most other parts of El Paso are pretty cool with mixed marriages and mixed dating. Hell, we were the first college in America to start five Blacks on the NCAA team (while the Jim Crow laws were still going strong in the South.) The group I grew up with since high school back in the 70s was about 70% Black and 30% Hispanic. I asked the Blacks in the group one time (back in the 70s) why they never dated Black women. They told me that In El Paso, good looking Black women are at a premium because there are only a few. So, they tend to play hard to get. "We have to compete not only with Black men, but with all the Juans and Joses out there." "I ain't getting into line when there are plenty of beautiful Mexican women just begging with their eyes to be asked to dance with the talk Black man." Speaking of that: We still have reunions of the group every few years. They all married Mexican women. We were all around the firepit in the backyard and this reunion the children were all of drinking age, so they joined us to hear old folks stories abut their parents. During a pause, I'm looking around and get a tickle in my funny bone. I start out, "You know, God hates it when Blacks marry Mexicans." (my friends all know me so they are smiling waiting for a punchline...their children are looking at me like that's not too Woke) "God Punishes them by giving them Puerto Rican children." My friends and their wives are laughing and their kids are pointing at one another, "YOU look like a Puerto Rican!" " NO! YOU do!" HAHAHAHA. So, if my Black friends got married to Mexicans in the 70s and 80s, imagine how much better dating has become in the 2020s. One small (big) caution: When you marry a Mexican, you marry their whole family. You will be going to birthday parties and weddings and etc two or three times a month. You will be picking people up at the airport. You will be doing (everything your brothers, sisters, parents ever asked you to do).

One more thing: "Negro" (Neh - grow) in Spanish is not political. It means Black and is purely descriptive. It has no connotation good or bad, it is only descriptive. "Negrito" means we like you (it literally means A Little Black, not that different) "Negro" has no connotation bad or good. "Negrote" might be bad...might...because it means (big Black, so, not sure if it means very different from us or just means tall Black man.) In the past 20 years or so, "Negrito" has been replaced with "Moreno". Moreno used to be the name for the Dark Arabic Moors in Spain. It is still used in Mexico to differentiate between the darker Native population and the Dark Arabic Spanish bloodlines. In the past 20 years it has come to replace the word "Negrito" in the Mexican-American population since the Liberal Mex-Amer had turned their backs on the English "Negro" (Knee - grow) word.

I lived in Northeast El Paso from 1981 to 1987 and graduated from Andress High School. . I'm Mexican and most of the friends I went to school with were black. Most of the black population in El Paso live in the Northeast so i'd understand if a black family or person was living in another part of town maybe they would feel out of place but i'm also born and raised in Los Angeles so as a kid I had friends who were black, Asian, white, Latino, Indian, practically every race you can think of where I grew up and I never saw color or race. So I often tell my mom that i'm thankful that when we moved to El Paso from L.A. that we moved to the Northeast. I felt like the Northeast was more of a melting pot of races and back grounds. I believe Fort Bliss had a lot to do with it.

Oof. Home prices are up, you can still find some in the 200,000 range, but the nicer, larger, or custom floor plans can be as high as 500,000 to 800,000 this year 2024. If you are planning to move down from someplace that already has extremely expensive homes, you should be fine. (California, Atlanta, New York). Otherwise, plan on renting or finding a smaller floor plan for the price points listed in the video.

Well, let's be realists. what does any person, regardless of skin color, expect to feel in an environment where one is the only one with ethnic characteristics different than the majority in a room? I am Spanish and on many occasions, I have been the only one in a room filled with folks who were either white or black, yet, I never felt I was out of place because of that or because some folks didn't want to speak to me. I kept carrying on being me, treated those equally as they treated me. If one allows some folks to drive your train, don't blame them. Blame yourself.

When a white women moves to the other side of the street as a black person it's not because they're Black it's because they walk talk and act like a they're gonna rob, rape or assault her. They don't get scared of a black Man wearing a suit and tie and speaking like a grown adult, they're scared of the loud obnoxious du-rag wearing thug type who is out on bail. You know what I'm talking about.

I lived in El Paso twice as a child because my dad was stationed at Fort Bliss. My husband and I are in our 50s now and have grown children. I would love to go back but as you pointed out and I have heard this same complaints in so many videoes no good paying jobs, not much things to do there, and too family oriented.I understand some people love the city being family oriented and they take great pride in the community. However, there are others that want to live in El Paso but are concerned we arent able to get a good paying job or have the entertainment to suit their needs. I feel this is obviously enough concern if Im seeing it in numerous videos but my question is,Is there anyone trying to do anything about it? I believe the comment about Engineer graduates from Utep are leaving after graduation because there arent any engineer jobs or other good paying jobs should raise enough concern to fix the issue to acommodate those graduates so maybe they would stay after graduation and others would move to the city.
