My processing computer had Intel i9, graphic card GeForce RTX 4070, and 64 RAM Memory and I processed 275 photos. You can use Capture Reality with lower specs like 16 GB RAM and a lower specs dedicated graphic card but it takes longer to process.
Great Video Stefan. Yep looks the code library could do with updating so that the line is also in the correct layer. Fieldgenius is the best for that and you can use it with nearly all GNSS receivers even this Emlid Reach.
@@petertips2686 I agree that the field software is not as mature as other software. There have have been some updates since I posted the video but there is still a lot of stuff to improve. I had a chat last week at Intergeo with the Emlid Developing team, suggested also this issue and they been very open to suggestions.

Does Cut-Fill to points and linework still show the correct value when staking them out? I'm able to stakeout to surfaces correctly, but the lines and points show random incorrect cut/fills
@@Millsy.g it depends how you create the triangles for your surface in your software. The new feature works fine for me so far. When I want to stake out only lines and points, I deactivate the surface.
3:41 When using the mini peanut prism without holder, does the total station measure distance correctly using default 0mm constant for that particular prism or do you have to make a custom constant or offset to the back point of prism? While in the holder the vertical pole offset is different.
Good question! Every center of the prism differs for each prism type and also you have that small tail. So what do is checking the constant before using the prism outside the holder by marking a cross on a wall. After I position the total station a few meters and measure the mark reflectorless and using the prism without the case. The difference will be the constant.
The design was based upon the horizontal measurement of a building taken from an OS map, thus causing an error. The architect would also require a vertical elevation of the existing building, therefore this would require someone to visit the site and measure the building elevation, it’s hard to understand such a basic mistake from the design team. It’s also hard to understand their non-reaction when you flagged the issue.
I know, it is unbelivable that stuff like this still happens. It was a chain of events that costed the final client a lot of money and all could be avoided with a basic survey. Some architects think can save a few dollars but actually they skip a very essential step. I am trying to educate my clients and most of them understood how important is a proper survey before starting a project. Surveyors usually talk about these cases only between themselves so I made this video with the hope that will reach a broad audience.
Hello brother, We are having the some problems in my country Cyprus with the architects... Also they use the old architecture drawings to continue lets say and attach the new build on the old one...
@@alkisasprogenous889 it's just sad that stuff like this still happens in 2024, that's why I made this video to hopefully reach also some people who are not informed. The architects think they save some money when they actually gamble on the client's project. Probably the clients need to be aware that before starting any project they need to have a proper survey.
i have been there. people tent to take surveys lightly, understimating the importance of starting with the right foot: an updated topografical map. usually this step is skiped, architects design first, survey later and when things dont match, they blame the surveyor.
@@dat16855 some people understand this but others don’t. I just want to tell this story with the hope that more people will be aware of what can happen without proper planning.

Salutare, am urmarit deja toate video-urile spre sa nu deranjez daca scriu in romana!

very useful accesory. pardon My english but i would like to ask the next: im asuming that its a axis with several of this same anchor bolts. how do you ensure that the bolts are not rotated from center? maybe with a second point marked in the plywood? or stake out the actual bolts? maybe is not critical for this job?. this is the kind of work i like to do but i dont have the experience, im a surveyor but in other workline.
@@dat16855 this is a great question actually! When I stake out the bolt pad I don’t stake out the centre, I stake out the 2 axes. If you saw on my video there were marked the 2 axes on each plywood so I move the prism to the edges of the plywood, on each axe and adjust it to make sure that the pad is not rotated. So basically, I stake out 4 points on each bolt pad, 2 on each axe. This is a great video idea, I will make one to explain better.
@@alexdisla253 hi, I use it everyday, so yes. It’s true that are better receivers with very good field software on the market, but they are 4-5 times more expensive.

@@bagiamin5289 thank you for your comment. I think that the data that I used for this video was exported from WebODM 😅, but your are right DTM is better if is extracted properly. But that is a subject for another video 🙂
Great video thanks! I am new to GNSS and looking for a system to measure vertical movement (settlement of ground). My question, is it possible to achieve 10 mm accuracy in the vertical direction? If so, it is only with PPK, using the base and rover setup? Do you need a know point beforehand? If yes, how do you obtain that know point?
I think that it all depends of your site and expectations. The GNSS manufactures claim vertical accuracies of 7mm for PPK, 15mm for RTK base and rover and 25mm for NTRIP. From my experience GNSS vertical measurements can bounce a few centimeters because it depends of a lot of factors. The best monitoring results I got by surveying with a total station or level instrument, but again it all depends of the site and the expected accuracy
Great review, thanks! I have used the RS2+ in the field with two antennas, base and rover setup. Even in a hilly wooded area, I have had no issues with this equipment. Highly recommend.
@@llemontree7425 Emlid receiver has only 184 channels and it's ok in some areas with a couple trees but it's loses the fixed solution faster. Trimble R12 does a way better job in areas with low signal but it has a way higher price
Sorry I don't use Surpac. A DEM tiff file is basically a heightband image and in the metadata it says what colour grade represents what level. I know that normal AutoCAD and BrycsCAD don't recognise the levels when you import them
is there a method to convert the .tiff files (or bake them somehow) to .jpg for example? I've made some ortos of my city but theyre like 10GB combined!! and the loading times are very slow... I just want to make "a better version" of google maps for myself
I just looked and QGIS doesn't allows you to export JPG but if you look at minute 3:50 on a second menu, you can change the image resolution to the a lower one. Just be aware that your pixels will be bigger and the image will not be as clear when you zoom in.
