I kind of get why they changed the design of Shrek as to not give kids nightmares, but at the same time this design would resonate so much more with the idea they were trying to represent in the film
I feel like Sherk was definitely edgy when it comes to humor. It wasn’t a Tim Burton type of movie (which I’m sure is what they were going for in the beginning based on this interview and the clip itself) but it definitely pushed the envelope on what kids movies were at the time. It mocked other kids movies and added modern elements into the mid-evil fairy tale world which made it hilarious. Sherk is timeless and is a modern day masterpiece
