Thanks heaps mate! It’s funny, they can definitely be tricky at times and I think the biggest issue people have is actually finding them. But once you get the hang of it and get some confidence in the float lining technique, they are a simple fish to catch. In summer go for a troll along the 24’s or 36’s and watch your sounder, mark any lumps with heaps of bait or fish on them! Good to see you’ve been getting out and nailing some awesome fish lately anyway 😁🎣
How come you wash your fillets after? In my opinion, it's better to just knock the fillets off straight away and keep them pure. Straight off the fish into a cryovac bag.
Hey mate, yes I’ve seen a lot of people just take the fillets off and put them straight into a cryovac bag to freeze. We just give them a quick rinse in the salt water to wash off any scales, slime, blood, or mess that may be on the cutting board. I guess it just comes down to personal preference, we do dry the fillets off with paper towel before we cryovac them too 👌🎣 cheers mate, tight lines!

This session we were using 20lb braid and 20lb fluorocarbon leader mate! Seems to be a good all-round line class for offshore Snapper where we fish. We still use the 12lb soft plastic setup most sessions though!
Hi mate, you could use an extractor and that is definitely the best option if releasing the fish, however if you intend to keep the fish for a feed this is the quickest and easiest way in my opinion 👍🎣 This way, you can get your bait straight back in the water again
Hi Will. While you’re down but not out mate, Would love you to do a vid on a local bait and tackle business. Maybe the Gem Bait and Tackle on the way to Jacobs Well. Everybody knows that store I’m sure. Would be great to know the ins and outs of where our bait comes from, who supplies the live bait. History of the Gem and what the Gm in the future is going to look like. I’m sure you could add a heap more to it.. just a thought.

Crap man its a nasty injury Will. Wishing you a swift recovery because I remember seeing a similar injury happen to Laurant Koscielny when Arsenal was playing Athletico Madrid in Europa. It took him a year to get back to playing but there was a scare he would never play again. He definitely lost his pace after that but you don't need that for fishing ;)

Hey mate, the Merc has been great for us so far! Plenty of power, great on fuel, quiet, no issues… We decided to go for the Merc as it’s lighter than the Yamaha and our Haines naturally sits lower at the back. But of course the Yammy’s are still great motors!! 👌
Nice motor. I just bought a new 23 , 115merc as a replacement for my Mercury 120hp Force. 2 stroke that had a busted gear shaft and was 25 years old. It's going on a 16 ' Sylvan. The hull is only 420 lbs dry. All aluminum deep V. It did 45 mph with the 2 stroke so I'm pretty sure I'll get very close to 50 knots with the new 115 and the right prop. I could have bought a 75hp that would have been good too but now I'll have a lower rpms at the same speeds and less stress on the outboard. 45 knots in choppy water with other boat wakes and swells at 45 degrees to the transum is crazy. It seems more like 125 knots when your boat starts to lift all the way off the surface. It's a bloody white knuckle rodeo. Involuntary cardio workout. Aka a hold on for dear life scenario.
