Good to see that Alvey going to work mate. Bloody jet skis eh!!😁 unfortunately the Broadwater is a great play ground for a lot of boat and ski owners that really have no experience with the etiquette required to not piss off the more experienced out there. I will only go there on weekdays if possible for that reason. Still had a good session and got a nice feed though mate! Looked a cracking day for it.

Squeaking away like usual 😂 Yeah you’re spot on there - too many people out there on boats and jet skis that just want to muck around, and don’t care whether they’re effecting other boats or not. It’s all about them and how fast they can go! 😅 Yes we were still happy with a nice feed of whiting, they’re hard to beat on the plate 👌👌
Yes mate I think this sort of stuff happens a bit everywhere sadly! It’s frustrating… too many people either don’t care about other vessels out on the water, or don’t have enough sense to do the right thing. Tight lines 🎣
Yes mate it was very frustrating! There were even more that I didn’t include in the video, but it definitely makes you mad when you’re just minding your own business and they don’t care about etiquette one bit! We chase whiting up the Sunshine Coast every now and again if we’re up there on holidays mate. We have got a few over near the new Bribie bar at Caloundra, and had a couple of half decent sessions at places like chambers island on the shallow banks there. Would definitely love to put some more time into it up there though! I've lost count of the amount of utter FLOGS on jetski's that go past me at 30+knots just a few feet away from the boat. Even worse I've had many that spray the boat on purpose whilst laughing or giving the finger. Cops really need to do a blitz REGULARLY on them as they are a joke!!!
Yes mate it’s really annoying hey! Too many boat and jet ski operators these days don’t care about anyone but themselves, and as you said some of them are just out there to cause trouble. I reckon if the police just went for a drift down the main channel some days they would have a field day on people breaking the laws or acting dangerously! 😅😅 Some of the things you see out there are ridiculous hey. Fishing along the Brisbane River with live baits I would always be ready, anticipating a bite after a city cat passed, the wave, wake ripple that came off the back made my bait wave about and had the smaller predators frenzy. Very poor etiquette by the jet skis..this may also be leading to bites moving the bait around.
Hi mate, yes I’ve heard sometimes a couple minutes after city cats have passed people often get a bite from threadies or jewfish. Since it’s so shallow here, I think the whiting like feeding in the stirred up sand from boats and jet skis passing through. At the same time, it does often put them off the bite for a little while after a boat comes through the area. Tight lines mate thanks for the comment! Jet skis are the worst. I realise the Gold Coast is busy but right through Moreton Bay has the same issue. Their party trick is to motor right up to you and slightly swerve off at the last moment. I see them in packs running flat out over go slow zones all the time. Not impressed with them at all.
Hi mate, yes sadly too many idiots with no marine knowledge or etiquette jump on them just to go fast and cause trouble hey! Although there are plenty of boat owners these days with minimal common sense too sadly. It’s very frustrating and unsafe, especially for us fishermen. Does my head in! That’s why I don’t fish the Broadwater especially in weekends. The crew that sell the skis should do better in education as well as the guys that run licenses
G’day mate. Yes weekends and holidays can get hectic out there that’s for sure. Too many people that shouldn’t have a license get it too easily. All they care about is getting on a jet ski or boat and going crazy out there, with no thought of safety or any other boats on the water. Frustrating!
