"Standard sized door"... Hollow core doors come in a standard height of 80", but different common widths from 18" to 36". 24" is the minimum size you really want to use for a layout with any kind of an oval, that will give you the ability to have 11" radius track.

I don't see any overhead wire for the yellow (Tempe?) streetcar. How is it powered?
@yixnorb5971
@yixnorb5971 21 день назад
There appears to be a folded pantograph on the back of the roof of the lead car. I suggest that the batteries recharge when the pantograph is deployed.
@TonyBelleau
@TonyBelleau 20 дней назад
@@yixnorb5971 That's correct, there is OESS that's powered by the overhead catenary while on wired sections of the alignment. Roughly 1/3 of the route is off-wire.

Love this layout, thank you for posting this video. It's a shame the Merk had to be dismantled in 2020. This layout, and Robin's new Barchester layout, and several micros, are superbly executed demonstrating excellent planning, skill, and execution. And the builder couldn't be a nicer guy.

@01:55 the Dead Man's eye flashing light was not working on the end of the train, that is a safety violation, and the same @04:17. hope you reported both violations. Gotta vote you down because no explanation was given in the video.

Did anyone else think the horn sounds were distorted?
@HighIronProductions

The horn is actually coming from a speaker on the crossing. These are "no train horn" crossings, which have these instead.

I'm guessing NS has trackage right on the cutoff to get to Norristown? I have a video on my channel of NS leaving Norristown. I wonder if the connection was built by Conrail?

NS travels over its own rails on either side of Norristown, but has trackage rights on SEPTA through Norristown Transportation Center.

What business on the New Hope branch gets boxcars?
@HighIronProductions

None currently. Occasionally PN will switch the Lansdale Warehouse after running to Ivyland. The cars are essentially along for the ride so they don't have to collect them from the yard when they return to Lansdale.
