Stick with me here, but I have a very different interpretation. I mention a very sensitive topic, and do not want to upset any readers. This is just my interpretation of the story. I belive the song follows a Japanese man, and his wife or significant other in Hawaii. In 1941, Japan recruits the man to bomb Pearl Harbor. After he bombs it, he realizes he killed his girlfriend, as shown at the end of murders. After he does this, he delves into madness, but is shot down and slowly starts drifting towards Japan. When he realizes what he did, hearing about his wife’s death, he tortures himself and locks himself in his mind, before he is eventually wiped out by an atomic bomb. Cover and others: Hawaii and Japanese made me think they had to be related, and when I heard the male singer sounded very much like an old 40s radio voice, I thought Pearl Harbor. In what I think is chronological: Introduction to Snow: showing us a flashback to what happened in his life, launching the musical. Reminiscing of times before he ruined it all. White Ball: The man and women’s perspective on the almost beautiful explosions luring up the sky like a “white ball”. The limbo of near death, but reflecting on life is the bliss they talk about. Black Rainbows: The women seeing the ash in the sky, seeing it as black rainbows, connected, arching over the sky. The background vocals are saying the colors she sees in her vision from the explosions. Station 11: The man is singing about Japan, his “heavenly country” as he bombs. The girls few lines have her singing about rising into heaven. Murders Part 1:He’s looking for his target (the trees). The earl king, Japan, (the lover because both love their country enough to do anything) wants to bomb Pearl Harbor, and he has no choice but to comply (the middle ground). Stranded Lullaby: After he is shot down, believes his girlfriend is alive and is hoping he can make it back to shore and live out his days. He ends up drifting back to Japan, not Hawaii. Murders Part 2: He realizes he killed his girlfriend for such a meaningless reason. Mind Electric: He is being sentenced, but only in his brain. He is subjecting himself to torture to punish himself. Time Machine: Him wishing he could go back and change what he’d done. Labyrinth: Him being locked in a deep, secure part of his brain with nothing but the ghosts of his past. Island Unto Thyself: On Japan, he is contemplating his life, when the Americans drop a atomic bomb, “magic Apollo”, causing him to not be able to breath and to die bleeding out on the ground. The ringing of the bomb deafens him, and he sees the world around him crumble to dust. Fire erupted lands is him comparing the atomic bomb and his bombing, and compared both sides and monsters, saying that humans are savage creatures that are only causing death. He starts to believe humanity doesn’t deserve to be alive. Dream Sweet in Sea Major: He is finally dying, and is drifting to what he believes is the light, but realizes he will have to atone for his sins. I admit my story might sound outlandish or have a few plot holes, but this was just my interpretation of the album. Although mine is different, and so is everyone else’s, at the end of it all, the album is about a tortured soul trying to find peace.
I'm going to be very honest, I always interpreted that the girl in the songs was the real villain. Especially in Murderers, I always viewed that the girl was manipulating and maybe even hurting the boy. She leads him off somewhere, which is the cavern, and to which they then commit an unspeakable act together. I always thought the rest of the songs were the boy trying to cope and come to terms with what he had done, as well as realizing that the girl had manipulated him, and that she wasn't the beautiful thing he thought she was. Especially in Labriynth, I thought that the song was the boy trying to figure out his feelings towards the girl and trying to escape the labryth that is her abuse. In the songs the boy does to refer to the girl, I always felt it was overly romanticised, like to the point where the boy is seeing the girl through rose colored glasses. The Mind Electric could even possibly be a stand in for the direct aftermath of what occured, and the girl trying to gaslight and manipulate the boy into believe he's insane and that he had been the one to orchestrate everything all along. Haha just some random rambling lmao, a lot of these songs are a very comforting thing to me, so my perspective may be a little biased, and I know this video is like a year old, but I really wanted to tell my perspective of how I viewed Hawaii: Part II :)
i’m so glad someone made a video on this beautiful album and helped explain it. i want to dance to dream sweet in sea major at my wedding but now that i’ve seen the theory that it causes schizophrenia maybe not 💀also this album came out when i was TWO it took me 10 years to discover labyrinth from youtube then the rest of it by myself 2 years later
The way this vid is changing and taking it seriously is like that Iranian comedy show were the family stopped to go to turkey for vacation but end up in in Syria and fought ISIS
I often play lethal alone because I use a lot of mods and most of my friends don’t have very good pcs. I never play without music or a video in the bg while I’m playing, the ambience makes me so uncomfortable, it’s really cool how a game can go from a horror comedy to a survival horror, simply by listening to the ambience and being alone.
What happens after we live? well we die silly Personally i have long since lost any fear of death one thing is for sure a quote that has always stuck with me "When we live death is nowhere near us and when we die we are no longer here to meet it" you just get used to the fact that boiling it down at the end of the day it is what it is
Anyone reading this I want you to know this man Fort Collins Productions helped me officiate my friends wedding. Unsubscribed though for showing your face
I want to answer the question of what happend after we die by "why" Why do we want to know what happend ? Why do we hope there will be a better place or being in peace ? I alwais wanted to die because I'm curious but I know that it might be the last experience that I discover. So I want to see the world before dying Whatever happend next. And for the last question.. WTF I DON'T KNOW like It is the first time I hear it After a bit of thinking I think that the most obvious answer is that death come after life but we need to put a deffinition of life befor that
Despite what you may think about it, this is arguably one of the best video essays I have ever seen. Part 1 was extremely relatable as a small RU-vidr myself (The account I'm commenting from is not my main channel), Part 2 was funny and a great watch, but Part 3 was a work of art. It makes me rethink what to do with the literal limited time I have here. Thank you for this.
One of the biggest reasons I wanted to make a discord server where I could send out announcements. It’s incredibly frustrating how broken the RU-vid notification system is.
