Another great video. We have always enjoyed watching your videos and we have visited many new areas thanks to your postings. Saddened to hear that your boating days may be over but what amazing memories you have. All the very best to you. Will miss the videos.
Sorry to read you weren’t boating this year, we always look out for your videos and have followed you on RU-vid for a while. We do hope you’ll be back at some point. Wishing you both all the best.
Thank you Dawn. Unfortunately it is unlikely that we will be returning to The Broads, age has crept up on us and we are not as steady on our feet, meaning that safety mooring a boat could be compromised.
Hello again Brian ,just to say that I've watched this vid to the end now (don't a lot of time these days !) I have to say you two seem not to age !. The boat ,Swan Roamer ,looks a lot like Brinks Encore ,we hired Encore back in May 2019 ,and we quite enjoyed it . Strange as it may seem ,we also had Moon Enterprise last May ,boat was fine but the weather was awful. I can honestly say it was the worst week that we have ever experienced on the Broads. Won't be put off anyway ,so we shall be looking at a 26th visit maybe next year. Looking forward to your blog from this year. All the best ,keep safe , Terry and Jan.
Thanks for that. Swan Roamer is longer than Encore and much better laid out. I'm afraid that we won't be going this year having decided that we are really getting a bit too old for boating but we have had over 30 years holidaying on The Broads so not a bad record.
@@BryanWillmore Hi Brian , sorry to hear you've hung up your mudweight ,I must admit that we struggled a bit last year on Moon Enterprise ,(I fell off it actually ,but not into water!) We may do a couple more trips ,may try Swan Roamer ,then consider packing it in.( 1965 was my first boat!).All the best ,Terry and Jan.
An interesting video. Just one point, the name on the yacht D26 has not been written by a dyslexic, it is APTERYX, another name for a KIWI. The boat was built in Poland, so is a Boot Polish.
Hello, and thank you for a wonderful video. I enjoyed every second of this. Great that you glimpsed an otter. I always enjoy videos like this, very calming. Hope that you enjoyed your trip too.
Fantastic. So well put together. I also loved the song at the beginning would like to know it’s name and who is singing. All being well I hope to be in Norfolk end of July.
Hi Judith Thank you. Music at the beginning is Porch Swing Days by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) and is Royalty Free as per "Licensed under Creative Commons:By Attribution 3.0 License creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/"
really great video , it was nice to actually see an otter , that was a nice little boat , was it a comfortable one ? & how many berths was it ? , thanks for sharing . lori .
Thanks to you both for another beautiful vlog, as always the photography and filming was fantastic. It's really nice to see that you are looking well. Take care and all the best. Stevie
how come there was no narration explaining to ppl that have never been on the broads where you are, or, going, it was as well i have been to broads to know where the places where otherwise i would have been totally lost
Sorry for the delay in responding but have been on The Broads again. Toilets are fresh water (from water tank), electric flush, single waste tank for the two toilets and we didn't have a pump out all week but we were two people on a four/five berth boat. Yes it does have shore power but the cable is quite short.
wow we was on these rivers from sept 26th to oct 10th last year, and we went to stalham on the 25th and stayed overnight, when we started our journey it was all still no winds not even at Peterborough, but by the time we reached Ely it started raining and the wind started to pick up and we had to listen to the wind all night, and on the saturday we got our boat called BROADSMAN 1 and we was first in the que got on the boat and we was first to taken straight out for our trial run, all went well was told i didn't really need the trial as i was very competent but when we arrived back and was going backwards for our stern mooring everything was going smoothly, but all of a sudden a huge gust of wind blew us out of line so i had to abort go forward got straight again and moored up, i was told that all boats were being advised to stay in the marina overnight and because of what happened i decided to play it safe and stayed the night, others went out but everyone that went out returned an hour later, we got out at 11am on sunday as thats when the wind eased enough to get out and start our holiday properly,
Hi Brian and Claire ,I do watch your vids ,think they're marvelous. We hired Encore 2 from Barnes last year and did enjoy it ,although I agree with you about the rear cabin and accessing the bed ,thought it a trifle cramped ,but , strangely enough ,we have booked Moon Enterprise next May .We would like your views on this attractive boat. Regards Tel and Jan.
Hi Tel & Jan Sorry I didn't reply to your last message but RU-vid wouldn't let me. Lovely boat with all mod cons and with the weather we had it was ideal. Very easy to moor both stern and side-on especially from the upper helm and plenty of rails to hold on to, quite badly affected by wind since it is high sided. We couldn't remove the table since it appeared to be jammed, get Richardsons to get the table off the pillars before you leave the yard. We split up for sleeping since the double beds aren't that big, ask Richardsons to provide bedding for both doubles. Beware you head and back when getting to the upper helm from the saloon. Would we hire it again? yes providing the table could be removed and stowed (which it should be) but we really liked the boat. The rear view camera did work but it needs a long press on the power button. You could look at this link to see my comments on the boat: forum.norfolkbroadsnetwork.com/topic/20738-cruising-the-norfolk-broads-on-moon-enterprise-12th-19th-september-2020/ If you need anymore info please do not hesitate to contact me with via RU-vid or the NBN Forum (if you are or become a member)
Beautiful video. I have shown this cruiser out on trial run many many times. She was built by Moonfleet Marine at Stalham Staithe several years ago, the year escapes me at the moment. A major project, initially built for the private market, but put on the hire fleet and was immensly popular. I helped at the yard in many different ways, including doing the costings for this beautiful cruiser. Eventually she went over to the Richardsons fleet and still looks as good as the day she was launched. Wonderful memories.
Hi Guessed that the boat was built for private use due to nav. lights being fitted and a comprehensive set of instrumentation. It was perfect for the weather we had, only real issue was the table which was jammed on its pillars and we couldn't remove it which made the seating in the saloon rather cramped. This was a default choice having had our April & June weeks on Swan Roamer cancelled.
Message for Terence Morrell: Sorry, I can't see your comment within RU-vid so cannot reply. You could look at this link to see my comments on the boat: forum.norfolkbroadsnetwork.com/topic/20738-cruising-the-norfolk-broads-on-moon-enterprise-12th-19th-september-2020/
Thanks for the video fairly recent and great to see some outstanding cruisers and the one you on is lovely been on one very similar couple years ago I forget the name of it now something like moonlight horizon I think it was one of the more modern cruisers very comfortable , well hope you enjoyed your holiday it certainly looks like you did again thanks for sharing 👍
Brill pics guys i love the broads if you guys are on Facebook their is a group you can search for called love the norfolk broads. Lots of members and posts everyday about the broads and photos etc. Think you will enjoy it just wanted to let you guys know. You maybe already in the group. Brill videos guys and hopefully I be down for Christmas as usually stop in wroxham for the holidays in a cottage and do a little pike fishing. Love Wroxham on the broads one of my fave places. Its all about Roy's lol
Another beautifully shot tour of the Northern Broads Bryan. I thought the wind noise added rather than detracted and what superb still shots. Thanks. Fred
Thanks Bryan for taking us on this great adventure around the northern broads with fantastic shots of all the scenery and wildlife. It's nice to see you both and that you're doing well on a terrific looking boat. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Thanks Steve. Wildlife not particularly good this year. We had our April and June holidays cancelled. Good boat with good weather, not so sure if it had been raining.
Hey Guys! What a wonderful experience watching your video, and.... NOT ON GALA GIRL!!! You do, obv, get such better views across the water, over the fields and marshes etc when up on top of your dual helm boat. But then you can't visit Coltishall, Hickling; or go down under some of the other older bridges... like at Beccles, say. But it's a fairly small price to pay - I reckon, for being able to see far out when on and around the broader parts of The Thurne, Bure and Ant, for example. Glad you got a 'spot' at Ranworth - and on the front Staithe too! We're booked onto a dual helm boat, in 10 days time - but taking her from down on one of The Southern River's. We'll make it North, though, as we're on her for 11 nights, luckily. Just finally... the shots of you keenly snapping away - taken by your partner, were really lovely.
Thank you. We haven't had Gala Girl for a few years now. The boat was great given the good weather, not so sure if it had been raining. See the NBN site for a writeup.
Lovely video, brings back happy memories of my two holidays, as a kid on the Broads, in the 1970s The first time we went on the Bairnmore, from Moores of Wroxham while our friends were on Judith, from one of the big hire companies The following year three families went, all on Moore boats, as the quality at that time was much better with the smaller company. Our boats were .. Aviemore, Faymore and Claremore. In those days there seemed to be far more traditional wooden boats, rather than the more modern GRP style of cruisers. I think the Brinks boats were all blue. I would love to go there again
from video time of 19.46 where the wherry comes in to Moor where the Ronaldo Norfolk fruit ice cream sign is what place is that mooring area called and is it free mooring or private?
How Hill on River Ant about half way between Ludham Bridge and Barton Broad. A long stretch of free BA moorings although the area you see the Wherry mooring in is usually reserved, no facilities apart from toilets half way up the hill (locked at night). Well worth an afternoon stop, large grass area, BA information office (with ice creams), Eel Catcher's Cottage, nature walk, Secret Gardens and trips around the marshes opposite in an electric boat..
Bryan Willmore many thx for that, I did have some sort of idea that it was how hill but wasn’t absolutely sure thats why i asked, but with a bit of luck we’ll stop there probably for our first night depending on what time we get the boat from richardsons, it will be our second time with them so hopefully we won’t need a boat tutorial even though we had swan radiance for our first time and we have one of the Broadsman boats this time, but its a biggger boat so i hope they won’t insist on the tutorial that they we can get straight out, as we won’t need to do shopping first this time as we’ll have already done it as we are staying in a chalet the night before across the road from richardsons
Hi Craig It depends what you want, I personally would not hire her again: Over priced, bed the 'wrong way round', very thin mattress and cushions and she was starting to get scruffy the second time we hired her in the September. If you check out the 'Norfolk Broads Network' forum and search for 'Brinks Encore' you will find my write-ups for both the June and September holidays on her. Unless you particularly want a relatively new boat there are older versions of this class available for much less, we hired her the year Royall's sold up to Barnes and we had already booked with Royall's and so then thought "why not change to a brand new boat" which we later decided was a mistake. You would find her quite different to Belmore.
all the wind mills/pump Mills whatever they are called the broads authority should get the ones that still have they're sails renovated and working so that people can enjoy watching them moving again and I bet it would make them one of the broads main attractions
