There are totally 4 memory modules: Red (ST) in Vault 8 (so you will have to go clear VaulCity to get it). Yellow (IN) in Sierra Army Depot (where did you lost it?) Blue (CH) in Navarro. Green (PE) in Mariposa level 3. AHS9 have 160 HP. Dynamit is able to do 30-50 (unless critical), Plastic Explosives 40-80, so you will need at least 3. Also you need about 35 Super Stimapacks to cause him Superstimpack death. Honestly is cheaper to just kill him guns blazing.
I'm not sure how I got those modules, but I think most of them are in the Highwayman (just threw them all in for freeing up inventory space). And I agree if there's one throwaway faction set up to be blasted wholesale, it's the Hubologists. They don't have any kind of flag or insignia to identify themselves (at least the Shi has that dragon looking emblem).
You can use stairs in that tanker fight (and any other fight near stairs or ladder) as advantage. Till you are in a reach of a stairs you can use it during fight to get whole party upstairs, despite some are surrounded. Then you can heal party and return back to continue fight with enemies which left.
That's true. I used that trick during the fight up the Cathedral floors in Fallout 1. I remember it too late for this fight, wonder if I'll do anything differently at places like Mariposa...
This is another one of those missions where the difficulty ramps up quite high. I basically GG out of this. Maybe there's an exploit I could try but I think I will read what others say about the mission and perhaps go back to train the heroes a bit more. Nothing could really prepare me for this curve after previous missions of relatively easy objectives and combined with a hard time limit make for a very, very frustrating experience.
Hey soylentgreen, thanks for watching! And yeah, it's been more than 10 years...and if I stopped streaming it would mean either I'm kidnapped or dead, I suppose XD
Hm. You was quite lucky when being unlucky. Chriss, supposed to give your passcode for a gate guards. And that underground tunnel is the only way to pass gate guards. Of cause you missed Sergeant Dornan's hilarious speech about lost armor you will be paying off 250 years. No. Cosmetic case have no use in game. Only persons who actually tells you where sergeant is, are gate guards. But you can't talk with them without a password from Chriss. Actually you can give plans to Brotherhood and Shi as Brotherhood only make a copy of it. Skipping Brotherhood bunker is bad idea, as there is free Power Armor (regular one), best energy weapon in the game and computer which can increase you stats if you have proper memory modules. Yes that dialog about a spleen with Dr. Wong is bit tricky. From 5 dialog options only 2 works (and there's not apparent why) and once you pick your choice, you can't get back. Chip's quest is one of few which are time limited. You have 3 in-game days from accepting a quest to get the spleen. Then Chip is removed from the game.
I guess the deal with Chris is it looks to be another timed condition to getting past him if he becomes hostile. I absolutely hated that part with the pariah dog where the game gives you a 10-second window to get out of the event, and as you say it's only by luck that I got out of another such event and could pass as a recruit. At least there are multiple ways of infiltrating Navarro.
Looks like you start streaming just after I went to sleep :-( Library of Enlightenment increases all 4 primary statistic by 2 of any hero who has at least level 10 (but nothing fo lower levels) You can have only 1 Capital. Be sure to visit Gate when you get near it. They you will see an enemy before he marching out of it. Spell deflection is from skill Resistance. It would be good skill if not give only 20% chance to deflect spell even on Expert rank. You still not understand difference between damage spells and shooting. Spell damage is unaffected by defense like shooting does. So best is use spells on highest level units but shooting on low level ones (lower than shooter).
Hey kolap1, thanks for watching the video, appreciate all the helpful tips! I agree it's always a great idea to get a peek on the underworld if I'm near the gate...why not, right? It was cool to see the 'big boss' character in his keep, who tormented me with those ambushes. And didn't know the library was such as useful location, should've visited it a lot sooner. I recall now using archers to shoot at high level units while it was the lower level units did go down easier.
@@Applodeon. But i did not see to the end. So two more comments: - Dragons have natural immunity to spells. Green to levels 1&2, Red to levels 1-3, Gold to levels 1-4 and Black to all (1-5) - Slayer is spell which gives unit a bonus damage to level 7 units. It might help a bit in achieving goal of scenario but till that time is useless. You should take an armor. It's +1 to each primary stat.
I read Pavel's comments. He's so micromanaging lol. There is so much small / big tactics in this game - it's depth is insane. So best to not play like an expert player like Pavel and just enjoy the game.
@Applodeon I have played this game since 2000 and I still learn new things about game play today. If you want to see the peak Heroes 3 gaming search RU-vid for Richard Chen Heroes 3
I was so curious I start playing same scenario which did you trouble. I played on hard difficulty to make things more interesting. I decide to make Gem a defender and hired ranger type hero as an attacker. I was able to get income 6000/day at month 1, week 2, day 2. I did not fight so far. Only claim both wood and ore mines, recruit free Centaurs and collect all free resources. I skipped dwarves completely - not build Cottages, not recruit from external dwellings. At month 1, week 2, day 5 I did first attack against town of Gladeroot. Levl 3 hero (thanks to treasure chest and learning stone) with 110 Centaurs, 4 Dwarves, 7 Elves and 10 Pegasi (from external dwelling) - it cost me 9 centaurs. I build Mage guild there and stayed over night to replenish mana. At month 1, week 3, day 1 I was able to raise my income to 9000. Day after I was able to build first Unicorn Glade and third Resource Silo. At month 1, week 3, day 6 Gem delivered first units and I was lucky a group of Pegasus joined me. That makes my army of 158 Centaurs, 4 Dwarves, 36 Elves, 46 Pegasus and 2 Unicorns At month 1, week 4, day 1 I hired 3th hero. Ranger Jenova with +350 gold specialty. Day after I penetrate north boarder and capture town Still Watter. At month 1, week 4, day 7 I captured enemy city Terminus. Several days later with 5 towns, 14,350 daily income and level 10 hero with army consist of 430 Centaurs, 151 Elves, 101 Pegasus, 63 Dendroids and 6 Unicorns, Necromancers was no match for me. Edit: I won scenario at month 2, week 1, day 7. So I tried second scenario too. And I have to say that Restoration of Erathia scenarios definitely feels easier.
I agree with you on Restoration of Erathia with its set difficulty scenarios. I will keep playing those and see if I can advance the story. Thanks for the summary of your play! I think the game really hinges on careful balance of aggression / expansion and defensive / development. Refreshing to experience the layer of strategy and tactics so well represented in a game (even though it is 25 years old)
To be absolutely clear, I've never told you sholud have only one hero. Of course you need more for collecting resources, recruiting and transporting army (prefer ones who have resource skill or speciality). I even recomend send one such hero with main one for claiming resources and mines main hero liberates. But you shoud left all fighting to main hero till he get at least level 10 as it makes fighting more efficiend and lower losses. Clear whole starting area before marching to enemy territory. At the start of each week there's chance for neutral units spawn on map. Use them and newly recruited army (in process of transporting to main hero) to level up heroes who stayed at home.
Some tips: 1. You should start with Restoration of Erathia as it was first so have shortest range of units, buildings and artefacts to get familiar with. 2. When building town start with income building. In most scenario game gives you time to it and with money you will easily catch army progress compare to situation when you start with army and then lack of money. 3. Prioritize claiming mines, towns and useful artefacts (of cause only experience or trial-error tells you which artefact is useful). Not attack enemies blocking ways till you sure you are strong enough deal with what is behind them. 5. Choose one hero as attacker and do attack only with him. Recruit other hero who travel with him and collecting resources and claiming mines to save movement with attacker. Later make a defender from him. 4. Prioritize useful skill: - Wisdom for everybody - Offence, Armor, Leadership, Archery, Logistics and Air Magic for attacker - Intelligence, Estate, Learning, Earth Magic and Tactic for defender - avoid bad skills: Scholar, Eagle Eye, Scouting, Fire Magic, Diplomacy, Mysticism 5. Get know of units in the game to be able assume their strength and your chances to defeat them. Don't let neutral units scatter (it's waste of XP) and don't accept fights which cost you more that 10% of army unless fighting for towns or with enemy main hero.
1. No. The current mod is way more noob friendly. 2. Yes 3. Yes 5. One main hero has logistics issues - spread out and fight wandering creatures with 2-3 heroes, then focus all army in one hero when conquering neighbors 4. Logistic first. Wisdom second. Then magic skills (Air/Water/Earth) since Apple is new. The Offense / Armor / Archery / Tactics are for advanced players. Intelligence / Estate / Learning are not suitable for main hero. 5. Fights battles to learn their strength
@markf5931 add 1) Might be. I don't know it. But give you Rampart to face Necro is quite hard beginning. add 5) If you prioritize income building, you will have not much army at the beginning. From my experience giving it to one hero and deal with neutral units when you get enough to have less than 10% losses is more effective than spreading it. And it also means that hero got all exps and get well prepared to facing enemy heroes. BTW: inclination to spreading army that computer controlled heroes have is the only reason why impossible difficulty is beatable. add 4) Logistics is good for chasing enemy heroes. Main hero should have it, but do not need it asap compare to Wisdom. Yes, therefore I recommend Intelligence / Estate / Learning only for defending hero (who stays near your towns). Computer can easily measure you army strength, but can't measure you magic strength. Magic oriented defender is underrated by computer. Therefore he can lure enemies with slightly stronger army and crush them with magic. That way he depletes computer enemy resources and allows main hero to get upper hand. You probably know that spell called Town Gate + skill Advanced Earth Magic allows your hero to teleport into any of your towns. If you have it with defender hero, you can really have only one super strong attacker. Together with inclination of computer enemy sending relatively weak armies to take your empty towns it makes impossible difficulty beatable.
Thanks for all the relevant information and helpful tips kolap! I will give the SoD another try from the beginning to see if I can have a different result and if I can't get past the first scenario next stream then fall back to Restoration of Erathia. I will try to apply the lessons learned last stream and here.
Whoa that is some in depth analysis of the Highwayman trunk! Really impressive. So the bozar really is one of the biggest guns, and makes sense that power armor is the largest item in the game. Assault rifles seem to provide the most damage per size. I think I reach the limit of the trunk space later in the game, perhaps after a trip to that Enclave location.
Hm. So you also have problem to find right doctor who got Chip's spleen. Don't know why developers not add a location (Shi palace) in quest info as there's so many white coats in SF. Visiting Navaro and then Brotherhood bunker is a huge power boost. You should left clearing tanker after it. Only shop who sells Pover Armors is Flying Dragon 8. But you even don't need to buy one. You will got better one for you in Navaro and two regular for companios (one in Military Base and one in Brotherhood bunker after returning with plans). Conveniently scientist in Hubologist base have resources for hardening just two regular Power Armors.
So much money wasting if you don't know what is wise to buy. Electronic lockpick and Supertoolkit both can be looted in Navaro. As for armors. One you will get in Navaro and two in Brotherhood reward all are better than one you just bought. On other side, Vindicator Minigun is the best one in the game and can be get only here (and on Oil Rig, but that's no return end-game area). Gauss Riffle is far the best gun for Cassidy and beside pickpocketing or killing certain NPC, you can also get it only here.
I bought those Chemistry journals, second time even after I found out they were useless before. Sometimes I can't help myself lol. I think the developers really wanted me to get the car if I failed to get anywhere on that quest in Vault City. I dunno if I get the Vindicator later, but I think Gauss rifle definitely finds itself in Cassidy's hands later on.
@@Applodeon Cheapest way to get Gauss Rifle is pickpocket it from Marc in the tanker. You can also use 'super stimpack death' on sheriff or deputy in NCR. Or accept caravan guard job and be lucky for robbers wielding it.
Supermutants present in the base are not a survivors from 80 years before. They are what happens to miners which Enclave hired to excavate a place. You can found it on the holodisks dead Enclave soldiers have. Interestingly, no one in the blind game has the patience and determination to kill all the supermutants on the second floor. Maybe if they knew there is a Power Armor in the locker in the small warehouse at the end... About Grundel. When you talk to the doctor in the NCR, he will give you a mutagenic serum and send you west to try it. Grundel is conveniently solitary, making him an ideal subject to test. The test result is not satisfactory. But the fact that Grudel is a named supermutant indicates that there were plans for the serum to actually work.
It's sad nothing in story warns you on difficulty of this extraction check. Because you need 80% Science for Human Brain and whoping 120% for the best one - Cybernetic Brain. That BB gun private Dobbs is carrying is not a toy gun. It has flat damage 25-25 and it's considered silent. That means you can use it for killing AHS-9 (if you prevent him leaving his room) or President without making guards hostile.
That side staircase let you to avoid all that eyeballs scanning, but from my experience, you need lockpick at least 60% to have any chance to lockpick door to it. And 100% for a fair chance.
I skimmed a bit in the FAQs (couldn't resist) and apparently the quest for secret characters at least starts in Chapter 4...with a certain character in your party.
You can use repair on impassable green force fields to turn them off for a moment, but you can't do same with red ones. Normally there will be green ones, but you switched off power source in that separate building which turned them all to red.
Ah, didn't realize that, so red force field is a compromise, allowing you to pass with hit to your health. I dunno if I had anyone who could repair things, but if I still had Vic it would have been better to leave things as they are.
I didn't have many games on XBOX, I had both KotORs, Tony Hawk Undergrounds, Crimson Skies, Fable, and This and I don't regret any of my choices...oh and I guess Halo.
The only female companion in vanilla Fallout 2 is Miria (the butcher's daughter in Modoc), but she's totally useless. In Restored game, you can recruit Kitsune in EPA. But as her prime abilities are Sneak, Lockpick and Unarmed, there are better choices. There is also ad-on to Restoration Project which turns some NPCs into recruitable companions. Including Lara (from Den) and Angela Bishop.
Yeah, Miria and her whole herky-jerky family, I think she doesn't even improve with your character leveling up. Kitsune sounds like one of the ninja characters that would fit in with the SF crowd. Pretty cool, but I agree with you on her usefulness.
