I spray to the roof of the wet car about 4 squirts. Then, power spray the top of the car and work down with the sprayer. I next squirt each wheel with 1 squirt each, then power rinse the wheels. I use a large plush, soft microfiber towel to dry the car.
"buff on - buff off".....my rosey red buttocks !!! This product, by far has been the twitchiest, toughest product for me so far. An absolute pain in the butt!!!! Yes... I put it on and went to buff it off....and buff it off and buff it off...left a real nice tacky haze. And for an added treat, the haze was in streaks. My truck hood looked better when it was only washed ! So, I let it sit.....maybe ten minutes....and went back and started rubbing and it looked like the streaks were going away. Fine. My bad! Came back and the streaks were back. Now I'm getting pissed. You don't mess with my truck. So I got some detergent and tried to wash it off. No way. Know what I finally did? Grabbed a bottle SCRATCH DOCTOR and did the Whole Hood in S D. The streaks are gone now, but the whole hood has a very slight haze. I figure I learned my lesson. I'll keep up on regular maintanance until I'm back to where I was.....6 months, maybe?.........and then I'm going back to the name brand waxes I've used for years. I think this is one for the "if it works don't fix it"-file.
Thank you for doing this! i reached out to c.cote & they sent me out my replacements! i haven't applied them yet. But really looking forward to this ! i am very thankful for the company to help me out! i been detailing vehicles since 1986.
There is 2-3 inch wide control lines between each product. It’s about a foot and a half or so in from each side to those lines. Sections are (from the perspective of looking at the hood) left - hard as shell, middle - megs UCC, right - tough as shell.
Pollen permeates paint, getting into the pores and causes fading. If it can work its way into clear coat, it can get through a paint protection product.
@@MrLamchp yeah, I had a test running on a forum a long time ago, it was a comparison between paste waxes and spray ceramics. When the pollen rolled in all of the spray ceramics died off. It’s seriously potent.
Cerakote V2 is looking how I would expect a true ceramic coating to look after only a month outside. Glad to see it doing well compared to pretty much all of the other RU-vid videos out there with V1. Thanks for giving it a shot as it seems like a lot of people have written them off and won't even try V2. I'm looking forward to your future tests! Thanks for all the time and effort you put into these. It's appreciated!
I’ve seen some fairly popular and well known detailers go as far as removing the brand from videos. Seems a bit extreme considering Cerakote refunded or resupplied anyone with issues.
Yeah, and it didn't even have to fail for Cerakote to send them a refund either. I thought they handled it the best they could, to be honest. Sure, people are out a bit of time if the coating didn't perform, but that's the risk you take when you jump on the hype train. There had been no real-world 3rd party end users of the product, so you get what you get. For them to fully refund or supply them with an updated coating at no charge is a lot more than what most companies would do. For something like that to happen would typically require a class action lawsuit in which the lawyer's end up with most of it, if they even win. Cerakote admitted a mistake and made up for it. Everyone makes mistakes. Unfortunately, a lot of people aren't so quick to forgive, I guess.
If you just need pure cleaning, it’s not bad depending on the price. But ONR does that for cheaper, and everyone else makes a detailer that cleans and protects.
I use the Ceramic Wet Wax every wash as a drying aid and it works really well and saves me some time. I've also got some of their Pure Shine if I want some extra gloss.
I’d never buy the Mr. Fix garbage when I can just buy TW Seal and Shine or Griots Ceramic 3in1 and get same or better results. I’ve gotten up to 6 months from both of those products.
Thanks for the video, I’ve applied it twice and works well. I may try a decon or paint prep next time with a buffer to remove product. Any thoughts. Great review too.
Definitely polish and panel prep for best results. Sometimes if the paint hasn’t had wax on it in a long time, products will apply and bond, but I would rather seal in nice polished paint over oxidized and swirly paint.
CarPro has their coatings down pretty good. Lite and CQUK 3.0 hold their own in pretty much every test out there. In the one test I watched (chemical resistance test first and turned into a longevity test) UK 3.0 is out performing the new D-Quartz Go. Thanks for the test and update!
Wow that’s impressive! Haven’t played with a lot of the higher end coatings on the market. I’d like to but $100-$200 for just one test and one car is not a great use of funds for me, especially when Cquartz lite meets my needs for most details I do, and it’s $60 for 3-6 cars depending.
I finally had some time to finish watching this as I had started it (and then forgot about it, whoops). Great test as always. Thanks for taking the time to do these tests and make video's on them! I'm looking forward to seeing how it holds up long term. I've had a few things coated with the cerakote 2 component bake on coatings, and they are phenomenal. I had purchased 2 of these kits, and they refunded me for them. Definitely can't complain about that. I applied it to my brother in laws truck on boxing day. It was about 19.5°C (67°F) while applying it and then turned it up to about 20.5°C to 21°C to let it cure. It stayed in the shop for roughly 30 hours or so iirc and then went outside at -20°C. He didn't wash it for 2 weeks. Either it was masked or clogged by salt and just winter gravel roads or whatever APC the local wand wash used was too strong for the coating. This spring I did a full decon wash on it with waterspot remover and it revived a bit on the upper portions but not much. It was super easy to install, though, and the slickness was crazy! Probably top 2 or 3 out of the coatings I've used. Blackbox automotive sold out of the coating so fast that the one kit just came in a regular cardboard box and contained frosted bottles instead of the black ones. We used those bottles. Where abouts in Canada are you?
I’m in BC! Yeah the frosted bottles are the new formula. I’ll be washing/filming the outdoor panel tonight, may have the video done tonight too if things line up.
@sheepstardetail I'm in northern BC. Yeah, these were ordered just a few days after the initial launch when Cerakote and Pan were just releasing everything, so they definitely weren't the new formula. My other kit is the typical Version 1 Cerakote in black bottles that got sent at the same time. I still have that kit with the black bottles. Would you want me to send it to you for testing? No pressure from me though, if you don't want to test it. If you do want it, just post up your email and I'll be in touch.
@@aaronolsen8787OMG YES! I’ve been trying to get my hands on the old version for months. Under my channel “about” is my channel email, email me there and we’ll sort it out!
@@HantsLeo yeah, it’s not a touchy feely type product, it’s sole focus is lasting protection. For a spray, I’m super impressed, just don’t think it’s going to apply like most slick spray sealants, it’s a workout.
Thanks for the video! I'm specially worried about bird poops on my new car, will be looking many videos from your channel to see how could I solve that! Thanks!
Thanks mate! Removing bird poop depends on how old. Anything past a few hours (or 1 hour in hot temps) you may have to polish it out. Protection wise, not much beyond a proper coating can resist it, and even then, you will have to remove it in a timely manner.
I like both companies, I’m not sure I would use TW for a detail where I want real long term results, but for normal stuff and a person just working on their own car, they work great.
I would use something else over 845. It has pretty good hydrophobics, and it’s not ceramic based. I don’t own 845 so I haven’t tried topping it myself.
I've been using the TW Ceramic Detailer since it was introduced to the market. I've found that applying it with a lightly dampened microfiber towel gives a more even distribution of product on the panals. AND... I find that it has a concentration to it so a little goes a long way. I'm convinced that most haters over apply. Additionally spraying the detailer directly onto the dampened towel is another way to evenly apply. Follow up with a quick fluffy-buffy on each section as you go works just fine. When it comes to durability AND shine, one of my primary uses is applying to both my and wifey's wheels for regular maintenance. Nothing takes a beating more than the wheels. TW Ceramic Detailer works gr8!🤷🏻 Oh...one more thing, a 32oz. jug for $15+/- U.S..
I haven’t tested it on a whole car but the spot sections I did were average at best. Glad it works for you, it’s a decent sized bottle and I didn’t have application issues (used an applicator, and sparingly).
I purchased the old ones when they came out. I haven't received the replacement even after contacting them twice. So, no, I wouldn't recommend this product.
You can save towels with coatings if you soak them right after use and wash them without letting them dry. I wouldn't use them on paint again but they'll work fine for junk towels still.
@@idealdetails it felt too rough to use on anything besides an engine block. And they soaked in APC before going through the laundry with 3D towel kleen and a HD cycle with extra rinse/spin.
I used them all and to me Seal and Shine is the best of all of em and the best value . The Flex has to be applied very sparingly as it will smear up big time.
Yeah I would agree. The bang for buck factor plus ease of use means reapplying seal n shine 1-2 months earlier not a huge deficit when comes to application hassle or cost.
Which one is the best for harsh summers and rains? I'm talking temperatures touching 45 degrees celsius. Which of these would give me the most ease of application and longevity in that kind of heat? I'm not a beading junkie, just need good UV and elements protection.
Honestly I can’t saw for sure. Overall it seems flex has the longest real world legs. I rarely see temps about 35*C and when I do, it’s dry as a bone, so I can’t realistically test in that environment. What I will say is for the cost of flex plus a bit extra, something like Cquartz lite is a far better option. It has a simple application (on and off, no flashing/waiting required), can be exposed after only 4 hours of cure, and works on top of mothers CMX ceramic polish and wax as a primer (which polishes, fills, and preps in one).
In conversation with one of the Canadian Distributors "Black Box" somehow it came up that the coating only has about 30 days shelf life once opened.....just information if anyone is coating small parts that don't use a full bottle. My first application of the original coating last October never did sweat like the videos showed and definitely has deteriorated in performance over the winter while parked in the cold.
Hi mate like your videos from the UK please try mirch bead king from Australia I find it amazing if you do please could you do a video it's a ceramic sealant thanks
Hey man! Thanks for the support! I checked out their website, but they don’t currently ship to Canada. I haven’t seen them sold anywhere else so looks like I can’t get my hands on it. On the surface, I like the website and the packaging looks extremely premium, glad you like them and found a solid consistent product to reach for! Thanks for bringing them to my attention, I’ll email them and see if there is some way I can get my hands on it.
It looks like they have raised the price on the new formula if it is actually reformulated. I like old school coatings that dry rock hard as a base coat. 1 of my vehicles has really soft paint being the reason why. I might would use the new Cerakote as a topper but I doubt it's hydrophobics will be any better than NV Nova Jet I'm using as a topper now. I smiled when I saw the Fusso coat back there since I have it on the hood of a vehicle for testing. Good hydrophobics but not quite as good as Jet.
Make life easy and pick up a bottle of 3D GLW Ceramic Detailer, which was fully reviewed by Apex Auto Detail. Inexpensive, easy application, great gloss, and extremely durable. I like it better than Griot’s Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax, which is saying a lot.
