I also have a chronic, progressive, and disabling illness. I was taking a sip of soda just when you were commenting on the bruise resulting from the cortisone shot. “Just take tylenol”. Nearly snorted out my soda! Of course, I jump straight to difficult and costly procedures rather than the perfectly obvious, inexpensive thing

Title: What NOT to say to a disabled person Your comment: "I know. It's very embarrassing." 🤔🤔🤔

Excuse me, hold on. Are you implying that I should not be allowed to say that I was embarrassed to use mobility aids? I didn't say that other disabled people *should* be embarrassed by that. I said that when someone told me I was too young to use them, *I* found it embarrassing. 🤔🤔🤔And that's perfectly reasonable. By this point, I'm over it, and I don't care if someone comments on my aids. But as a 21-year-old just starting to use a cane and then promoting myself to a walker at age 24 (when most people don't start to even consider needing those things until about 40-60 years later), I absolutely was embarrassed by it.

I’m guilty of all these! 😬 In my defense, when I compare people and say that so-and-so also has this symptom, or that diagnosis, I might mean that 1) “you guys have something in common that you could talk about” or 2) “your situation sucks and a lot of people can’t relate, but truly you aren’t alone.” I can see how that can be irritating to people. I’ll try to stop doing that.

I wouldn't really consider that comparing. What I meant was more when people say something like, "you don't even have it as bad as this other person I know, so you really ought to suck it up." Or there's a lot of, "at least it's not cancer," which honestly is a whole other thing. Like if they're trying to place one person\illness ahead of another one to decide how the ill person should be reacting to their own illness.

Oops, I accidentally hit the send button. What I was trying to say is, anti-depressants reconfigure your brain to constantly crave carbohydrates. After watching this video in its entirety I won’t make any suggestions about dietary changes, I don’t want to offend you, or insult your integrity. New subscriber who’s trying to understand what you’re going thru. I believe what you’re saying, you don’t appear to be a fake. 😀🇦🇺

Man, that "send" button is just in the wrong spot! Haha I do that all the time on Instagram too! I really appreciate your desire to be more understanding. You're totally right about the side effects! I didn't even consider that at the time, but that's definitely another contribution!

I wish the doctor who prescribed the anti-depressant I’ve been on for 30yrs, had a major side effect of weight gain. Apparently all anti-depressants

You can find antidepressants that don't cause weight gain, on Google. You can also print it out, or save it to your phone, and show you doctor. There are medications out there that don't have this, as a side effect.
