We are a family of four, living in Victoria who love to travel and explore Australia's great natural landscapes. Our videos are centred around four wheel driving, camping and most recently, sailing, with family and friends. Where ever in Australia the tracks take us.
Come along for the ride and enjoy this beautiful country we live in.
If you get LKTOP Air 3 200W charger hub and use your 120W charger to power it, you'll like it. This charger hub charges all three batteries simultaneously unlike DJI charger hub which can only charge one battery at a time. I bought two 120W USB-C charger bricks for about $40 to power LKTOP 200W hub charger. The charger hub has the same functions as DJI and more. It can put batteries in storage charge and displays batteries capacity in %, temperature, Watt. Go check it out.
Cheers for the video much appreciated. Great work and a massive help! The FASK2 pack I got has the outer seal as well but I didn't see it in your video? Did I miss something?
Hey, that's a good observation. The outer seal sits in the back of the rotor/hub assembly behind the inner wheel bearing. At 27:46 I mentioned that I wasn't touching the wheel bearing because it had been replaced about a year ago. That's the reason I didn't use or make mention of the out seal. I would only replace it, if changing the wheel bearing or if the seal looked damaged. Hope your CV replacement went well.
About to purchase air 3 and did not know it didn’t come with charger, in my opinion that’s like selling a car with no wheels. Its ridiculous no charger .Good information mate 👍
I was in the same boat. Bought the DJI Air 3 from JB HiFi 2 weeks ago. Had to use my standard phone charger (10w). and it took 4 days to charge the 3 batteries. I try to avoid fast charging as I have been reading everywhere that fast charging does shorten battery life. Of course manufacturers want you to fast charge so you can buy more batteries sooner. For now, I purchased a "Click PD30W" charger from Bunnings (I/N: 0531987) $9.95AUD. Took just under 2 hrs to charge a flat battery which I'm am very happy with. Hopefully a 30w charger will be less harsh on the battery. Would love a battery expert to chime in here if I'm wrong.
Its 25mm square aluminum tube from Bunnings that fits together with plastic corners, riveted to some angle and flat aluminum sections that are screwed to the panel frame. The tube upright fits neatly into pvc pipe attached to the pushpit with stainless hose clamps.
I would think that would be a good way to get a hernia, it looks like you know what your doing, just need to pass over the right spot, my other hobbi apart from hoping to sail some time soon is gold slucing, with a river sluice, I think Creswick is not far from you, and they also detect there as well, your garenteed to see gold, slucing in Slatey creek. Even just a pan and shovel. RU-vid is your friend with that sport as well. Great to see you both out in nature on an adventure.
Hey James, I definitely don't want another hernia. I'm familiar with Slatey Creek and have an old pan, so I'll have to go for a look. I've been watching a lot of Rob Parsons lately. I love the history aspect to his video's and his success finding gold is inspiring. I hope you can get on the water soon but until then enjoy the slucing.
Yes, same with most thing I think. Read and watch tutorials to learn the techniques and terminology but to truly learn we must practice and that's the fun part.
That was interesting, and you finished in front of a few Farr 6000s and the odd Sonarta 7s as well. Hard to know what you will be upto next. Nice bit of water as well
Great video - I love the honesty. I have a big family too and this has convinced me that I'd either need a bigger boat or would just aim for solo sailing!
Thanks Duncan. Our 18 footer is cosy but with the pop top is workable for the 4 of us. There are some nice 23-25 foot trailer sailers that would be more roomy if you're looking for more space. I couldn't imagine leaving the family behind. Sailing as a family is great fun.
I'll save you some time, folks. Here's the deal - the Fly More Combo doesn't come with a power supply for the drone. DJI doesn't mention it clearly on the box, and it's not in the inclusions list. So, despite spending $2,350 on the drone, you'll need to buy a separate power supply, costing around $129 AUD. DJI recommends their charger, but good luck finding it easily. I had to get a third-party charger with USB PD for faster charging. It's frustrating, and I think DJI needs to address this issue. Share your thoughts below and let's make sure DJI hears us.
You nailed that one Barry. Great work, I wish I had taken the time to learn from experts as I’ve made many mistakes. One thing I have done is using self amalgamating tape on the spreaders. It lasts a lot longer and looks nice and tidy.
Hey Folks, have you considered joining a Yacht Club like Geelong Trailable Yacht Club we have a few Ultimate 18’s there and it would help with your rig tuning . Also what better way to get your skills up with a group of like minded people who can assist and provide assistance on the water. We have options for cruising and racing. Westerly’s can be difficult at Geelong if you’re new to Sailing. With your shrouds measure them to confirm their lengths from each side. Looks like you have done pretty well. Last comment is look into the Ultimate Association they have a large knowledge base for your yacht. Hopefully will see you on the water. Regards Shaun.
Hi Shaun. Joining Geelong Trailable Yacht Club is definitely something I would like to do but at the moment a busy work and family life make it difficult to get the most out of the membership. Thanks for the tip on measuring the shrouds. We are members of the Ultimate Association and have made to a few social gatherings but have yet to make it to a cruise. I did take Lady Emma to Lake Eppalock for the Bendigo Classic before Christmas, so keep a lookout for that video very soon. If you see us on the water be sure to say hi. I always love chatting to other trailer sailors. Enjoy your sailing.
@@VentureOffroadAustralia4x4 Nice one joining the association they will have lots of information for you. I was at the Bendigo classic last year I must admit being in a faster division I was not looking for you so will keep an eye out for you next time. Regards Shaun
Hi, my cable snapped on my ultimate 18 yesterday! lucky it was still over the trailer so no damage! What diameter rope did you use and where did you get it from? I am in your area based on the lake.
@@VentureOffroadAustralia4x4 We sail the ultimate on Corio bay and a dinghy on Lake Burumbeet and Wendouree. Ended up using 4mm Dyneema from a trailer winch pack (hand to cut the hook off and splice in an eye) the pack said that it was for a 500Kg winch so it should be ok (4mm Dyneema should be stronger than 500Kg anyway) the old Dyneema was 3mm. Haven't has a chance to test it out yet though! I'm terrified of a snap out on the water like you had!
I think the 4mm will be fine. Plenty of working load capacity above the weight of the Ultimate 18 keel. From the research I've done, I think the key is regular inspection of the keel cable and replacing it early if there are signs of wear. Hopefully we'll see you on the water somewhere.
I use a Bluettit portable power station model EB3A which has a 100 watt USB-C port. I mention this because inevitably you will take the drone to remote locations. Relying on your car battery and some cheap 12v adapter is not a good idea. I highly recommend investing in one of the modern compact LiFePO4 power stations. Yeh I know... another expense, but they are worth it. Good for around the house too. If the drone came with charger it would be annoying if you already owned a charger... for example, I would still use my Bluettit to charge, NOT one that might come with the drone. So I'd be complaining I paid for something I didn't want! That said, the box should clearly state "charger not included". :-)
Thanks for the info and your thoughts. I've been seeing a lot of advertising for Bluetti lately. Also saw Rob Parsons using their gear in a RU-vid video. They look pretty good. Worth a closer look.
Love your videos. That is one cute little boat. We started out in Corio Bay too but your way of trailering around the country and putting the boat in the water anywhere looks fantastic.Keep up the great adventures and be safe.
Thanks so much 😊. We love our little blue sail boat and exploring all the amazing destinations around the country. Hope to see you on the water somewhere. What boat do you have?
You don’t need to file the alternator to make it fit the bottom mount. There is a bush in the bracket that you can slide out to give you the extra 0.7mm that you need. To do it I pushed a smaller bolt through the bolt hole then affixed two nuts. I then adjusted them so each one was at either end of the gap in the bracket, and then just tightened the one that was pressing against the bush so it pushed it back into the bracket. Removed the nuts and bolt and the alternator slotted right in. But boy I had some problems with the top bolt.
Hey @philophactory its been while since I've been there but if memory serves me right it's between Wee Creek track and Marginal rd, north of Rocky track. Let me know if that helps you find it.
Peel looked lovely again. We are hoping to get there for a few days after Christmas. P.s we ran aground last time we went out. Entirely my fault, Pat was steering and I was streaming the AFL Grand final. She said I think we are getting shallow and for a moment I had a brain malfunction and thought the colours on Navionics was inverted ..... Gets exciting pretty quick!
It sure does get exciting quick sometimes. As long as no one is hurt and there's no damage to the boat, I suppose we just put it down to a learning experience. Have a good sail over the holiday period. I hope you get nice weather for it.
Loving the sailing vids, specially when you bring it up to my sailing grounds. I also have a trailer sailor that im learning on, so can totally relate to you guys. I just dont have my mistakes on video so they never happened 😉
Thanks Josh, how much fun are trailer sailers and learning to sail? Sometimes I'm tempted to hide my mistakes but I do like to keep it real and it does make for an interesting video too 😀
Dont be disappointed, or beat your selves up, your out there doing and on track, rember when you headded out of St Helens and Rachell said about the other boats leaning over and said , " is that what we will be doing " you all have come a long way and doing great things. Cario bay will be very tame after Peel Island, and you will get a better tan from the moon in Geelong. Do you have a compass mounted, to steer to ?
Thanks James, you're right we have made progress and mistakes will always happen. We do have a compass we steer too. My problem was I got confused between what I was seeing on the water and in Navionics. Mostly because of sun glare on the faded nav marker making it look yellow instead of red. A bit more tide would've helped too. Oh well, it turned out ok.
I am no expert, but thinking if you set a corse, and when the other cew members are on the tillier, they could stear to the compass, and leave you to set up and check things out, as stearing becomes familiar and instinct, or in a straight line, that cant be all that easy, with out land marks, they will free you up. And less stress.
At the start it looked like the girls were taking over the boat, then you caught the fish, showed who is the hunter and who is the catheters. Rach seemed suprised you caught something, lol. Making them walk on the casurina nuts the next day was a bit rough. I hope that is not a spoiler alert for other viuers.
I was surprised to catch a fish too. Fishing isn't one of my strongest skills 🤣. The casuarina nuts was a bit unfortunate and I felt bad I hadn't anticipated their presence.
