I want a g8 but saying japanese cars last longer because of the owners is a cope. Gm isn't as bad as it was in the 90s but they still roll a lot of garbage off the line like the cruze, traverse, etc that will blow up at 150k miles even with flawless maintenance.

Ive just recently started my journey with this car as it is my first project muscle car at 19. I bought my 09 G8 GT six months ago and it had 193k on the clock. It’s now at 205k and the only issues I’ve had with it so far is the headliner(redid with suede), hazard button(pushed in and haven’t messed with since ive got the car), oil pressure switch(fixed), carrier bearing is going out at the moment and the evap solenoid is bad (waiting to have the money to redo my subframe and suspension and will complete at same time). The car has muffler delete, Camaro transmission pan and cold air intake but is still factory untouched. It has been well maintained since before I’ve had it and runs good. Still has the DOD and everything. Dont get me wrong, it still handles like a 200k + car, but I would take it on a 750 mile beach trip with no worries. My plans for it is to completely redo everything in phases. 1st completely redo the suspension and subframe including putting a 3.27 lsd diff in it. Then finding a low mileage 6.2l and a 6l80 out of a Camaro and build them both and throw them in the car. I plan on doing this work all myself and I’m excited to learn about working on cars more in depth and making this car my own.

Hey mate, Im in australia and i have a nov 2009 hsv clubsport r8 . holden special vehicle version of the commodore fitted the the corvette 6.2 litre ls3. of the time. someone chucked in a magnuson 2300 magnacharger kit in it . before i bought it second hand. i had to replace a few things . roof liner as you said . coil packs , brake pads and discs, front right lower plastic chair cover. but it does rip , and fun car, cheers from australia..I replaced the radio with a kahan unit. but maybe an alpine unit might be a bit nicer. replaced battery as well.

Great video, mate. Yeah I'm Australian and I own a 2011 Holden VE Commodore which has the same body as yours minus the Pontiac front bumper and the left-hand drive, of course. I have a bearing type noise barely noticeable unless driving close to a wall to hear the echo. I never thought of the carrier bearing, I'll get my mechanic to check that too. Cheers. Another issue for perhaps your Florida viewers is the sun fade. I'm in Queensland, Australia and these cars duco fades rapidly. Keep it under cover although it mainly effect the darker colours as I've never seen fade on white or silver Commodores.. BTW, nice car. 👍

Thank you so much. I think I will stay with the H3 Alpha. I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I am just an idiot. However I put one of these 30 dollar plugs in the connector under the dash. I think it works. The Jeep is telling me my City is 17 miles to the gallon and 22 city. This was an improvement of 2 to 3 miles to gallon. I live in Las Vegas. Hmmm maybe the plugin did what you are talking about.

I’ve heard great things about the G8 GT. I plan on getting an 09, simply for the Bluetooth and 87 octane. I’ve been doing a lot of looking for common problems in these cars before I get one, and I’m glad to see that most people never have issues other than basic maintenance. These cars are very easy to find and they average 18k to 25k and I’m very eager to snag one for myself.

Have a very nice off-road bumper pull trailer that weighs about 7000 lb I'm in the market for a towing vehicle, and I'm very interested in the hummer as I imagine the I can use it to tow my trailer/ home base to a location and then do some over-landing all while looking extremely cool.

I have a 2009 pontiac G8 base with the 3.6 engine. The main issues that have been a common occurrance is the ball joint / tie rods always breaking, literally every year there is one or two of those always breaking. But otherwise the engine and transmission run like the day it came off the lot with no issues related to them, just annoying suspension issues. I never drove it hard and mainly treated it like a daily city commuter. It only has 93k miles on it too. Looking to sell it though next year because I am tired of spending 1-3k dollars on suspension work every year.

I think the G8 is fairly plain looking compared to the VE HSV Clubsport it is derived from, or maybe it 's derived from our SS. EDIT_(I just discovered that you guys have a Lumina SS, and this car looks identical to our SS, so now I am sure the G8 is derived from our Clubsport) The G8 has the same tail lights of any VE commodore. But the Clubsport in AUS got different tail lights to any other VE. But anyway, its good to see USA enjoying a car that was made just around the corner from where I live. It was the first all Aussie built chassis, and had more Aussie parts on it than any other Holden before it. The VE was also the first proper long wheelbase car built in AUS, having extra large rear doors instead of just putting the shorter wheel base body onto a longer chassis and adding a blank where the doors close. The G8 must be very rare in USA since they were only imported for one year. We had the VE Clubsport and the other sport variants of the VE, Grange, GTS, and Maloo (like the Chevy Camino) from 2006 to 2013 until it was replaced with the VF commodore. USA also got that car in the Chevy SS sold from 2013 to 2017
