The scene when jacks about forced to marry the scabies winch and Barbossa crashes the party…………Jack: “ Hector! Me bestest mate in the whole world!!” With the most truth in his voice and face….. their relationship, past interactions, and that situation…. Makes that scene for me their best interaction
A Captain and his First Mate, ex-First Mate, his internship with Sparrow made him confident enough to become a captain himself. But a first mate is always a first mate to his captain, thats why jack still calls him Hector.
"If you hadn't betrayed me and left me to die, I'd have an equal share in that curse same as you." Anyone else get the impression Jack knew the treasure was cursed for real and was still trying to find it? Barbosa didn't believe it until he became cursed himself, but Jack had already met Davy Jones by this point. He knew the legends of the curse could be true. While I'm sure this wasn't the original intent of the writers, in retrospect my theory is that Jack was trying to curse himself of purpose so he'd stand a chance in a fight against Jones without needing to find the Dead Man's Chest, or at least as insurance before he went looking for Jones' heart. Honestly the curse from the original movie is a lot easier to weaponise. They didn't even feel pain, whereas even if you can't kill Jones without stabbing the heart, wounding him clearly hurts him to some degree, as he cries out when wounded by both Jack and Will. Not to mention that Jones' crew members, while they evidently having remarkable healing abilities and don't age, they can be killed, whereas Barbosa's crew in the first movie couldn't without lifting the curse. All Jack would need to do is lure Jones into shallow water fake a defeat so Jones' crew boards the Pearl, then reveal that they're all immortal, slaughter Jones' crew and then take the Dutchman with only Jones himself to contend with. Jack always knew Jones would come back for him. He swore Jones 100 years of service. It can't be a coincidence that the first thing Jack did after having the Pearl raised from the depths of the ocean was seek out an immortality that could rival Jones himself.
Even though they drove each other crazy most of the time you can tell that Jack and Hector are brothers when it counts the most and they always have each other's back
Jack mentioning the world being the same with less in it whilst standing before the kraken which took him to the locker and scared him to death last film tells me he’s already longing for the days of fear at sea being the % chance of being hunted by a sea monster or supernatural ghosts, not some beurocratic trading company’s and foreign military powers.
I love the fact that Hector never rebutted Jack's insult towards his appearance and Carina's beauty because he knows: 1) He really is THAT ugly 2) Margaret really is that beautiful, even after all those years.
I don’t see any reboot capturing the magic theses movies had, even the last two still had that feeling of history from the first three. Why can’t Disney just let it rest?
I'll always love that first clip. Barbosa jokingly explains line by line why it's a bad deal, and Jack counters by repeating every line, but making the deal noticeably worse for Barbosa in the most serious of voices.
this dynamic is easily one of the best parts of the series, its weird but i never realise how much i miss miss barsbosa's presence in dead man's chest until i watch at world's end
Jack and Barbossa were the best of friends and rivals off and on again but they were amazing together beside him and will until they killed off in 5 😒hell they killed off deavy joes in 3 so why make 6 who’s the new villain now you killed 3 off😒
