I am still confused when people say that the gates of two P-channel MOSFETs are managed independently, while the gates of two N-channel MOSFETs are tied together. The data sheet for your ISL chip even shows the gates of the two P-channel MOSFETs are tied together. Obviously, the data sheet is not the same as the schematic for this motherboard. But I am still confused as to why P-channel and N-channel MOSFET gates are managed differently.
At 6 :2O you measured at csr and said short gone after removing blob on coil. But the cap that was short is on main rail so csr should have read short. Please excuse my ignorance if i am wrong
Great presentation, I like so much the way you do the presentation that I would watch it again and again, thanks again for your effort and sharing your repairs with us.
Hey man, nice video. I have one of these for a client. The issue is that it won't turn on at all. The client says they saw ants in it and tried to get them out by hitting the bottom of the machine with their hands. I know it makes no sense. But since then, it won't turn on. There is no life when the power button is pressed without the charger. Once the charger is plugged in and the button is pressed then the light where the power adapter is stays on as long as you press the power button. As soon as you release it the light on the side goes out. And again, no power at any point. Do you have any idea what the issue may be?
Hi, thanks for watching. If the light on the power adapter goes off when you press the power button, this is usually an indication that the board is shorted and the power adapter is shutting down for protection. If you want to be the next in my "help a subscriber" series, send me a few pics of the board to therepairshare@gmail.com - from what you describe in your comment, I would there is a good chance of repair.
@therepairshare673 Thanks for responding. I made an error the light that goes off is the one on the side of the laptop, not the one on the power adapter. That one remains on. Each time the laptop is plugged in and the power button is pressed, the light indicator right underneath the charging port turns on but shuts off as soon as I release that power button. It does not power on at all. And it does not show the light under the charging port does not illuminate at all without the charger. Suggests that it isn't even charging the pc at all. I will send you the image. Check your email please.
I loved the analysis of that intersil 9538C IC. There was the key to solving. Excellent explanation and a modern Dell laptop that was resurrected. Congratulations. Thank you very much for your time and sharing. I read the description and in my opinion it is a profitable investment (it may not be 100% recoverable, but it is worth facing this type of current devices). Waiting for the next upload of any type of device you have on hand. All the best .
Not sure if I would risk $131 for a no-power laptop, but this worked out well for you. It is probably much newer than the Inspiron laptops I normally buy on eBay, so the price may be close to market value. Did you mention the CPU and other specs for this 3510?
Dell Latitude 3510 was released 6/XI/2020. Dell Inspiron 13 (1/16/2009) and continues to be manufactured until the most recent Dell Inspiron 15 (May 4/2023). Search as: Dell Latitude 3510 motherboard (Ali/xx). i3, i5 and i7 CPU, 32 GB maximum Ram.
@@danarepouille1381 Hello. Yes, Dan. Indeed. That is the motherboard and it uses the i5 CPU in the Dell 3510 model. I recommended Ali/xx because they send you a new PCB. On the other well-known sites, you can get an original Dell 3510 motherboard. Man, that's cool! but generally used... ...and they even claim that it is 100% functional. Read in a forum here in North America for intel 5 10th gen: "A processor like the one in this laptop depends a lot on the rest of the hardware it comes with, but fortunately, with each generation of CPUs that arrives, hardware and software solutions are included." In other words, the PCB (printed circuit board) on which the components are mounted has a similar part number, but the processor (i3, i5 10th and i7 third gen) determines the circuitry (components) with which it will work optimally and of course some ICs (mainly) will be different on each board. As an example: the Dell 3410 model uses a similar part number board and many components can be used as "donor" for 3510... just as I have seen done on another channel. All the best.
100 videos. A sincere congratulations. Last September 2nd I turned 8 years old with the workshop and I had said that when I turned 5 I would close it... And the tons of experience gained during the journey? Doesn't it count? So when it turns 10 years old will you close it? I don't know for sure yet because I like the branch (field) of repairing consumer electronic devices (car stereos, TVs, PC Desks, laptops, microwave ovens, electric skates and bicycles and I am even studying drones or unmanned aircraft ). 100 videos and if you continue uploading we will be here to follow you, accompany you minimally by commenting and liking because we always learn something. Thank you very much for your time and sharing. An affectionate greeting from Mexico.
This is a very interesting topic. My only concern is that these devices were made to be tossed aside when they fail. There is no way to open them, repair them, and reassemble them in their original form. But the video content is top notch.
@danarepouille: Hi. a) You can open it with dremel rotary tool b) Use loctite 480 glue (industry standard) if you want to seal it like the original or better yet good quality black electrical tape (adhesion) to reclose the covers, which makes it easier to open in case of an unexpected failure and return again for warranty. As an example: Dell laptops typically use 65W chargers for most of their models. For your laptops dedicated to video games (Alienware) 180W and 240W. Same values as Asus ROG (Republic Of Gamers) but remember that there is a Pin Detect that must be recognized by the Super I/O IC located on the motherboard so it is best to use the original charger from each manufacturer. Regarding electronic spare parts for both mentioned manufacturers, they are available in recognized specialist stores. All the best.
In LAN 2 I defined the gateway ip as the one from LAN 1 = No internet on LAN 2. Maybe I should try deleting that and see if this solves my problem. Thanks for input
