Indian products are Chinese made and double almost triple sometimes the cost of other just as well built and probably from the same manufacturer as the Indian products
My 2016 Chieftain has rear floorboards they stay put where you place them. I’ve seen issues where the spring steel spacer is difficult to install so, it gets left out. That will cause them to be loose.
I normally remove the caliper then use the old pad to help compress the pistons then reinstall the caliper and pads along with the vibration spring. Good job doing your own work on beautiful Penny.
It does. Just did mine. If you just take the two bottom fender bolts off and looses the upper fender bolt you can then rotate the fender slightly which allows you to unfasten and pull the calipers off the rotors to your rotors with that screwdriver and once off it is a lot easier to Push the caliper pistons in. Way better then risking damage to those expensive front rotors if you ask me...
I believe this was the first time this guy changed the brakes. Should have been about a 5 minute job not twenty something. Seems like he spent minutes on minutes pushing the caliper back into place. Wonder if he scratched the caliper and or disks with the screwdriver. Can't the caliper be taken off the frame to make the job easier?
Hello, I used to have the wildfire red thunder black Chieftain bike, they also call it the fire bike. I traded up to the 2017 Chieftain Elite. It would have been really nice if Indian would have added to all of that ritzy packaging a template to make your job easier. . "God forbid Indian".
You might be able to save some money on the paint by taking your bike to your nearest NAPA auto parts store. They have a special gun that they use to scan the paint and it tells them what color paint you need. They did this for my last Indian and it matched the paint.
Billy, the roads in this area are not smooth asphalt. It's reworked with laying down top coat and then pouring over new gravel and running it over with the water filled pavement rollers. There are some bumpy areas I do think that the roads are good for the mountainous areas!
Monday was fantastic and sunny. Temp. in the High 80's. Had to grab lunch, so I drove 2.5 - 3 hours to San Antonio to grab a bite at the Hard Rock Cafe and then back home. What a ride!
