@@Time4theJuice I barely knew anything about the series before seeing Civvies video on the first game, but I picked this up for an alright price a year or so back. I do need to give the original a try, apparently it's great! Haha
@@Chonkems thanks a lot! Haha It's a complete gamble if anyone will watch these videos with how up and down views can be. I just make them for fun anyways, and if people watch them it's a bonus!
@@noobsaibot2255 the soundtrack goes pretty hard at times.. Even if an MDK3 did happen, who knows if they'd be able to capture the vibe as a whole again!
i love when a tiny channel reviewing a game that i hadn't thought of in years but blew me away as a kid pops up in my recommendations and on top of that the video is actually good
I loved this game i remember going to gs and seeing it in the rack this is when the dc was about to stop. Games were like 10 dollars new. I grabbed this , dino crisis and re 2 and nemesis. What an awesome game
@@White927 As far as the classic style goes, yes, but there was the risk of the formula growing stale. There's plenty of bad RE games that are just bad games though.. haha
@@White927 I agree, I think the Remake of RE is so incredible they could have done something more like that with the RE4 mechanics. Given the not so stellar sales, thanks to the Gamecube, I'd say they would have been worried though!
Honestly, what's cool about Wolfenstein 2009 is that it's basically the devs making the most obvious hey this and Doom are in the same universe connection ever. As most of the sci-fi guns in this game look and act like Earth prototype versions of a lot of the alien guns, BJ Blazkowicz the III (Doom Slayer/Doom Guy. William being his great grandfather. the grandfather being Aurther Kenneth Blazkowicz Blaze and his father being William Joseph Blaze Blazkowicz II who preferred to be called Billy Blaze and became Commander Keen.) picks up in the Doom games. Not to mention, the dark dimension is clearly the one from the Quake series, which Doom Slayer was in, and is why he was imprisoned in Doom 2016 as he was seen as a threat due to surviving every challenge and because the people of the planet feared him in Quake Champions they decided to capture and freeze him in suspended animation forever, but we all know he eventually got freed unintentionally and the reason He barely speaks in the newer Doom games is because he's not entirely over the trauma of the Quake series. Like imagine you were chilling one day, and then demons take your pet rabbit away, so you go get revenge; only for a few years later, those same demons whom you chose to try and be merciful towards come back, so you have to take care of them again only for them to show up a few months later. So you get tired and decide to trap yourself in their dimension, taking only your family's guns and the weapons you picked up in your last adventures, the suit you acquired from the first adventure, and your long-gone pet rabbit's foot. Then, when you finally escape that planet that the demon aliens are on and get back to Earth only to have to slap your insane superior officer who wants to make a deal with the demons (who is the human on the demon's side in Doom Eternal, by the way) and be exiled from Earth for being right, and then when your all already sad and exiled from home you end up being captured and enslaved into a coliseum-like tournament for entertainment purposes, only to be robbed of your reward of freedom and instead be imprisoned forever until an unforeseen accident sets you free. All in all, the paranormal stuff in Wolfenstein 2009 actually fits with this big universe that the game is in. Which adds to its charm and makes me like it even more.
Dude. This is great. Thank you. I will never ever get tired of fresh perspectives of resident evil 3 nemesis. It is my favourite game. What is shocking me is the dreamcast version looks really slick! The backgrounds are much sharper. Amazingly, in the brain sucker T-junction, there is a dead body there that is not in any other version. As a purist now of course i have to buy this. I would recommend jumping off the bridge so you can blow up Nicholai sky high in his chopper at the end with the RL.
@@Natedawg38 Cheers! Yeah these versions look fantastic, and could have looked even nicer if certain things weren't hard wired into the game.. haha If you can get a reasonable price on a copy (just not the damn German version!) I'd definitely recommend it. The Dreamcast version can be pretty pricey, and the Gamecube port is very much the same!
I try to keep it at a pretty brisk pace for story sections so I don't drag it out, and mellow it out a bit for the other bits, but I'll keep it in mind! I hadn't done any videos this long before, so I wanted to keep it tight! haha
I remember being a kid and my older brother just saying "yeah I picked up this used game from the second hand store it has co-op wanna play?" Shit is one of a kind and has been flying under the radar flr no good reason I mean it doesn't hurt that we played Perfect Dark Co-op and multiplayer for years and before that it was goldeneye
This was the first game i ever owned for my ps2 because it was a budget title by the time i got one. for $20 it was totally worth the money. the bikes handling like ass, the news reports...oh man so camp and fun despite being very clearly limited by time and budget. i need to go back and finish this one.
@@ughaghost You can definitely see what a bigger budget could have made this game, it had so much potential! At least the news reports are A Grade brilliance.. haha
@@THHDReviews It had at the time rather big budget. I think I meant that when he got the game he bought it for a budget price. Not the full release price. And yes the new report are meant to be campy. Remember that at the time of having actors and footage was considered rather high budget. And using a orchestra to record music was not common at all. About time it was not so limited either, of course like all games at the time it often got rushed in the end. But compared to other titles I would say time and budget wise it was above average :)
@@litjellyfish yeah, you're definitely right there, I'd say it's more just allocation of the budget, and time spent on certain things could have probably been handled a little wiser! At the end of the day the deadlines aren't gonna be too flexible on a dead console.. haha
@@THHDReviews I'm just worried that since I never played it, the nostalgia won't hit the same, but definitely will look into it. Thanks for the heads up
Shame we didn't get this on Dreamcast in the US. But we did get the PS2 port and the sequel. Be nice if the original Headhunter got remastered for both current consoles and pc.
@@Gruntvc I'd say if the Dreamcast didn't get discontinued it probably would have made its way over! There's a couple of PAL games like that, I just wish we got D2 over here as American copies are bloody expensive! Haha I assume Sega has the rights, but can't be bothered doing anything with a bunch of these games..
@@THHDReviews Actually dont be so sure about it. Remember that at this point in time SEGA US and SEGA EU was pretty petty bickering about everything. Proof is that the PS2 version of headhunter was not released by SEGA in the US but Acclaim. So SEGA US did not even want to put the effort to get the title out on PS2 that now was their new platform strategy. And yes SEGA has the rights to the Headhunter IP
@@litjellyfish you'd think they'd try to claw back some lost money in the US, but it makes sense given they didn't even give Shenmue 2 a Dreamcast release after the money pit those games were! Haha
Well for 3 i don't know if I'd call it an add-on, but it was a side game (1.9) about the mercenaries that then had Jill added into it and had the number 3 slapped onto it (and with that had more stuff crammed into it in the final few months) when what was going to be 3 got moved to next gen consoles and was relabeled as 4. Also that bit about the T-103 Tyrant being made from the G-Virus that Brian Irons says is a translation error. In the Japanese version he talks about how G is for evolution.
@@edward18517 I think the game does enough to become its own thing, but really it could have kept the 'Last Escape' title. CV does more to earn its place, so hopefully that gets a solid remake treatment to bring newer fans to that part of the story! Oh, and don't you just love translation errors! Haha, fans would be furious about that shit these days..
The BFG edition was made much easier with many more ammo pickups, and a lot of the game was made much brighter. A lot of people complain about the shoulder mounted flashlight, but that doesn't really bother me as much because it's just another version of the ducktape mod. It was made more accessible to more people by being easier, so I guess that's good. They also removed all the chests in the console versions because of it interfering with achievements. I guess it doesn't matter for those who don't care about such things. I will also add that you can't skip cutscenes in the bfg edition, which isn't a problem on a first playthrough but is really annoying on repeat playthroughs.
@@Yubl10 yeah, it's expected that they'd try to make the game more accessible, but they should have given more options with this version I think.. Oh and you'd think by this point every game we would be able to skip cutscenes, but at least nothing goes on too long..
I love the Resident Evil series, part 2 is from the original trilogy but part 3 has its own charm. Unfortunately the remake of part 3 was a disappointment and I don't even want to start talking about the censorship of the German version. There were reasons why I bought the UK version back then.
@@Django286 I found it to be pretty bizarre with the censorship. Being Aus we would just get UK versions, but I randomly ended up with this version! Haha The Remake had so much potential, but we're left with so much missing!
@@THHDReviews Well alright, it's just that I've never seen any review only talk about one scenario of RE2, it's either one of the scenario pairings (mainly Claire A, Leon B, as it's the canon one), or both scenario pairings to explain their differences and such. So it just feels kinda incomplete to me is all. If this was say a two part video of just RE2, and you had one video for Claire A, and another for Leon B, then I could get behind that.
@@The_BEST_Rookie_Cop yeah, I do briefly touch on it, but wanted to keep things moving. This more ties into its direct sequel too which I'll be covering at some stage! (I'd been planning on doing 1, 2, 3, CV)
@@zZiL341yRj736 as much as I really loved the 2 Remake (and enjoyed 3), there's definitely still a lot to bring you back with these original games. It's just a shame games want to sell you so many extras these days, when these games you had to unlock it all!
@@lonewolfstrife3637 I think all the resources were pulled away for the other games, so it felt like a chunk of the game was missing. Hopefully a CV remake gets good treatment, that game was awesome, and pretty big in scope!
Resident Evil 3 Nemesis is my favorite of the classic RE PS1 trilogy. The Dreamcast port is fine, but I think the GameCube port is better. Hoping one day the classic RE Trilogy get remastered for both current consoles and pc like Tomb Raider Trilogy got. And RE3 2020 is the worse one of the recent RE remakes. RE3 Nemesis deserves better. Gonna review the Dreamcast port for Dino Crisis 1? Now that's a series I wanna see return. Don't know why they didn't port Dino Crisis 2 to Dreamcast.
@@Gruntvc Yeah, the Remake for 3 definitely was the weakest. I found it to be good for the most part, it just needed more to it! As far as ports go, I thought Dreamcast and Gamecube were overall similar, and they're both pretty expensive! Either are worth it if you can get a good deal.. Dino Crisis will certainly be on the list, I've never played the sequels, but the original is great! I have to trick my console to get it running with the VGA signal, but it won't play the CGI cutscenes.. haha
Not a remaster but GoG just recently released RE1/2/3 there, the original ones. The first is complete, the next two are expected 2024. So we can easily play the old school ones on PC.
The german Version for dreamcast is Cut, Green blood, disappearing dead enemys. The mercenary Mode is unbeatable, because no reward for killing zombies. The uk and US Versions are very good, The progress in mercenary Mode (money) is Not saved, so I had to play mercenary Mode again and again until I could buy The machine gun with unlimited ammo, Start a New game and save to play with this weapon. Savegame for mercenary money is fixed in the gamecube Version.
@@mantrahus how frustrating! I didn't realise they'd be THIS bad with censorship, I thought it was just Wolfenstein they got pissy about.. haha, and that's coming from good old conservative Australia that was going to ban Left 4 Dead 2, but let AVP get released! Haha
I am torn between punching them, and smashing their face into the floor, for my favourite method of interrogation. My problem is that I tend to punch them a little too hard, or slam their face into the floor too many times. The analogue sticks on the Steam Deck are incredibly sensitive, when I am emulating this wonderful game on the Steam Deck. I only play it, because it says "The Punisher" in the title. I tried to get through the entire first level yesterday, by just using grabs and breaking their necks in melee. It was awesome.
interesting setup with the shelves right behind the couch, id like to see your game room and if you do make a video for it dont forget to show it from as far back as possible, its so frustrating when people do game room tours and you never get to see the space. btw you remind me of wood from beat em ups from back in the day when he was straight up just copying the game chasers. my god its been over 10 years.
Hoping the Punisher 2005 one day gets remastered for both current consoles and pc. Hopefully they remove the lame censorship from the original releases too. Wish we got that open world Punisher game sequel instead of Saints Row, but hey, that's just my opinion lol. I recommend checking out the comics that inspired this awesome game, especially the Welcome Back Frank/Marvel Knights Punisher comics from the 2000s. The Punisher Max comics by Garth Ennis are worth reading too.
Who knows what Disney would allow these days, but it would hardly be a big deal to see the uncensored version of the game, given the brutal shit that has come out over the years!
Nice vid. I played this as a kid but don't remember black widow and iron man being in it 😄i think i cared more about the special kills and interrogations
Funny, the original Xbox version was surprisingly decent for what it was/is, and came with the original Doom, which was nice (played PC version of Doom 3 in '04 originally, on a beefy PC and this game blew my wig back mang)
For all its limitations against high spec PCs of the day, the Xbox was able to work a lot of magic! If only these days they didn't insist on shooting themselves in the foot every time someone opens their mouth.. haha
