As someone who has read The Wonderful Adventures of Mrs Seacole and researched her life, I’d like to clarify some items in the comments. Mary Seacole was a doctress who, at 49 years old, used her own money to go to Crimea to tend to the soldiers there after she was rejected five times to join the nurses under Florence Nightingale. Mrs Seacole was enlisted as a nurse by the British military for their camp in Jamaica because of her reputation and experience as a nurse/doctress treating British soldiers. She knew several soldiers who were deploying to Crimea and she wanted to be there to help. After she was denied the ability to go in an official capacity, she did what her mother had done before her, she opened a hotel where the sick and wounded could convalesce, which she had done previously in Jamaica and Panama. She opened a hotel with a restaurant and provision store called the British Hotel. Once opened, she was known for going out to the field and caring for the wounded and conducting minor surgeries, like setting broken bones and stitching wounds as well as providing tea and refreshments to spectators (it was a different time lol) This knowledge and medical care she learned from her mother in Jamaica who used West African healing techniques like hygiene, herbs, wound care, etc to treat enslaved people who were injured in the sugar cane fields under brutal and inhumane conditions. She went to Crimea with years of experience and knowledge learned in real life conditions but she was turned away due to racism and prejudice because she wasn’t formally educated in Europe. The information you find online about her will depend on whether the source is associated with the Nightingale Society who sadly believe that Mary Seacole’s legacy competes with Florence Nightingale’s. It does not. Both women were extraordinary in their own right and both should be remembered for their contributions. No, she didn’t consider herself a nurse, she, in her own words, considered herself a doctress, like her mother who was known as “The doctress” in Kingston Jamaica during her lifetime where she treated local people and British military and naval officers at her hotel. Mrs. Seacole also considered herself Creole and stated in her autobiography that she was equally proud of the “deeper shades of brown” in her lineage. As for the claim that Mrs. Seacole didn’t add any medical value to the soldiers on the field, I will leave you with a quote from The Times war correspondent, William Howard Russell, “A more tender or skillful hand about a wound or a broken limb could not be found among our best surgeons.”
That was amazing. I will appreciate it even more now when I walk past. I was in The Royal Hospital a few years ago and my Bed was facing The Cathedral, at Night it looked spectacular with the Dome all illuminated 🙏
There is a wonderful podcast episode on Florence Nightingale and Mother Mary Seacole on EMPIRE. Florence was a great administrator whilst Mary was a healer.
After hearing these stories i dont know how if I would ever marry these .white people. As for Black Americans in general WHY!?!?!?!? What's the fascination with these people!?!?!?
It was good until yet again this documentary tried pushing indigenous erasure by using a random couple with no creditable background and that knows nothing about science that already debunked ancient African DNA found in the “Americas” Africans are not our “maya” ancestors and have nothing to do with any of our people as DNA has far debunked all claims based on racial science claiming phenotypes belonging to one race! Facts over theories and fairytales. Yes people can claim whatever they want it dose not make it true especially when science proves otherwise and science prevailed once again.
Hmm. I always assumed "hyperlapse" simply meant, "really high-speed timelapse." Evidently I was mistaken, as this video bears no resemblance to anything I would call "timelapse." What am I missing?!?
I went for the day tour last week at Port Sunlight. I’m from the area but don’t know any of the history. I was most amazed by the most beautiful church I’ve ever seen. I didn’t even know it was there.
How does it feel to be the great, great, great great grandson of one of the most devastating garbage that created the TRAIL OF TEARS?...killed so many people mostly redskins. What would you say to your kin after Andrew Jackson raped them?
Hi, many thanks for watching and raising your question. My battery was custom made a few years ago, using C020 pouch cells made by EIG. Seemingly, these cells and that company now no-longer exist. My project was just about on the limits of my engineering skills; you might be even more skillful than I! Depending on your skills, it would be possible to source and solder together equivalent cells using their solder tabs. Other cells might be provided that could be bolted together - as I choose to use. A third option might be to buy a set (or more) of reasonably standard power-tool batteries, then additional chargers to use as quick-fit connectors to the scooter. Lastly, ebay does list ready-made packs that might only need the connectors altered to fit with the scooter.

Jackson's ancestors were benga tribe. They were the slave traders. His ancestors enslaved other to sell to Europeans. The irony is astounding. That part of this story remains unspoken. Over 10 million taken by other tribes and sold into slavery. A cultural process that started long before Columbus, British Empire or Portuguese.
There is this great documentary with that tall white guy who wears the hat. I’m sorry I forget his name but the documentary he was in was all about finding a tomb in Jerusalem that they whole heartedly believe is the tomb and bones of Jesus and his family. It was an incredibly interesting watch and I highly recommend it. If u can find the guys name… damn brain farts lol
Big problem in UK is housing associations hording stock, boarding it up, making the problems worse, and then going to government to get money to help fix the problem. A prime example is my street, there's 20 social houses owned and managed by Pobl housing. 10 of which have been boarded up with metal shutters for a decade at the very least. The same association that has deprived the market of these 10 rentals and hundreds more has just been given 50million pound off tax payer money. Is a huge Web of curruption
It’s crazy. Money going down the drains but it’s not their money so they don’t care. We have so many abandoned properties in the US too. So much of it is owned by large Corp or some rich person waiting for the area they come up before they build or sell. They don’t have to pay anything so they just hold on to it. Meanwhile it devalues the local neighborhoods and puts many people at risk. So many crimes being committed in these buildings and boarding it up doesn’t help. Not to forget to mention the affordable housing people need that will never happen
Which company did you go through to get insurance to use it on public roads? Quite a few get confiscated by me and people prosecuted because they don't have insurance. That includes 15/16yr olds being given 6points before even applying for a provisional licence!
Many thanks for your question & comment. Unfortunately, I don't answer personal finance questions. Please feel free to confiscate from and prosecute 15-year-olds in Belarus for having fun while in that region of the world there is a war going on.
I'm working on a wind material that create the motion of trees and bushes in Unreal Engine ( game engine ) and this playlist was so helpfull, thank you very much
Many thanks for your kind comment; I'm pleased that this playlist was useful to you. When I filmed this, I was very lucky to get such a range of weather very rapidly in this 1 location. All of the lighting transitions are also due to the storm, not due to changes of daylight.
