Addendum-Still using the same old Union loom with shafts and heddles like yours. Anything bigger than 8/2 cotton, I will warp front to back. I made some more wool cloth from my homespun. I made a 42"x42" warping frame. I find it more expedient to thread a dent and then the appropriate heddle at the same time. The first time my 38" material become 32" material but lesson learned- 12 epi for a 12 dent reed. I know that people make rugs because they are easiest to sell at Shows. I made a cloak for my grand daughter in Wyoming. It is heavy but it keeps her warm.
Just wanted to say that your videos have helped me learn so much about weaving on a Union loom. I’ve had one for years but have not set it up yet. Your channel has been inspiring. I see that you haven’t posted in a long time. I pray you are well. I lost my mom about 8 years ago. I’m sorry for the loss of your mom and whatever you’ve gone through with all of that. Anyway, miss seeing new videos from you and would like to know if you’re okay. 🙏 Thanks for all the work you’ve put into this channel and the ideas and tips you’ve shared.
Hi, thanks for sharing your weaving wisdom! I have a question about your warp. It looks like you add a black thread or two at certain intervals, which makes your rugs even nicer, but i don't see dark threads in your fringe or the warp while you are weaving. What do you do? It's quite nice. Thanks again.
If you can leave the last rug on the loom and only take off the first ones, then you can just wrap that one around the rug beam instead of having to retie all the strings.
Hello - I've been watching your videos and they have helped me more than anything! I had a union loom given to me a few months ago and have made several rugs. I'm consistently battling an issue with my work not winding straight on my carpet roll and am wondering if you had any suggestions.
Someone gave me a union 36 loom but it doesn't have a carpet roll, it has a wood rod with cord attached to hook onto the metal pipe. I am thinking about making a carpet roll but I'm not sure how to attach it. Any suggestions?
WARNING ⚠️ Good trying to ♻️ recycle BUT … I have 100s of tapes and so was considering doing what your doing. But I did some research and those tapes are Mylar with hazardous metals including chromium. They are ok to touch once or twice but when they break down they become harmful and body oils on your hand are one thing that will break them down. :( This hazard should not be put in landfills either. Unfortunately very few are properly recycling these as it is an expensive process. Green Citizen in California does it👍🏼 but they have to charge a fee. I’m thinking I might take my 200 vhs apart to recycle the plastic myself. Or have an electronics recycler do it, hoping they will do it right.
Thank you so much for your videos. They have been a true breakthrough for me. I have my grandma's Union Loom Works loom, but in pieces. My aim is to get it going again, but I have been intimidated by the enormity of assembling it and prepping it to weave. Your videos have helped me immensely in understanding what I'm looking at in all these pieces. (I do have the manual, which is enormously helpful.) Onward!
I’m working on the union loom number 36 and the carpet roll is a metal bar and it has lscrews sticking out every 8 inches so there’s 5 across and I’m obviously missing something here to attach my work to. Please advise.
Thank you. Have the same loom from my grandma. I never knew how to reset so it's setting full of her rugs Louisville? I'm southern Indiana. Love to learn from you
been watching on tv and computer love them just got my loom was just learning than moved been few years without it would love to have copy of your union loom book not real good with u-tube and computer
I love your videos and share them often with friends. What size yarn do you use for your hems? I have a union too and love it. Thanks to your videos I finally figured out how to use the yarn guide and sectional warping. Big time saver.
Excellent job demonstrating, clear and informative. I will also add because it is a pet peeve of mine. I hate music in the background, it adds nothing to the experience of watching and it is just annoying. Thanks for the video.
I just purchased a Newcomb Studio with two treddles a week ago. I am loving your videos! they are detailed, and that is what I need as a beginner! Thanks for putting in time doing this!
Must of these succulent are growing in Transvaal, North of South Africa. Lucky me some of them are hallucinogenic and I love them M`m M`m 😋😛😝 Ps, you can get them in few places in Tucson AZ.
I just recently purchased a golden nugget from the local marketplace and it’s this exact loom maybe newer an 1875, but your videos have been a life saver
I’m so sorry for the loss of your mom. My mom has been gone 20 years now & I still miss her everyday. Now days I look down at my own hands & see hers it gives me comfort somehow. It makes me feel as if she’s still here with me.
I purchased a Union #36 (in pieces) from someone I know at the Farmer's Market. It has been quite a journey--reassembling the loom in my living room. My first attempt at warping the loom was a disaster, still don't know what I did wrong. I only put about 40 winds of warp on--which I had to cut off to start over. The second attempt went better and I am weaving using all the scraps I found around the house. It isn't too shabby even though I am using scrapes. Your videos have guided me all along the way. I know I am going to love weaving as I become more skilled. Thanks so much.
