What a wonderful rug you made. Using selvedge is great but would like to know where you purchase your selvedges from. Would like the info. Keep posting.
I sure have been enjoying your videos on your Union loom. I may be able to get one of these, and I am wondering if I could weave wool saddle blankets on this loom or kitchen towels.
Hi Susan. I weave spun wool on my Union Loom with no problems. As for wool fabric , that is harder to work with but not impossible. You can weave dish towels on this loom if you string it for the right size. Having only two harnesses does limit the pattern that you can weave. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
Thanks for the very interesting tutorial! I have heard of selvedge rugs before, but never understood what was being used (looks very labor intensive - are selvedges cheap to buy?). This one turned out great! When you said you were going to "clean up the edges", how did you do this? Did you just cut the fringey parts with some scissors?
Hi Robin. Yes I do clean up the rugs with scissors. Basically I am just trimming everything. I think I paid about 20.00 for ten pounds of Selvedge. You can get it several different places online.
I buy my upholstery Selvedge from Great Northern Weaving online. The blanket Selvedge came from family in Pennsylvania and I’m not sure where they purchased it from. Hope that helps.
