Thank you so much, This exercise is going to help me! My Massage Theripist told me to look for the Alexander Method on RU-vid, and you explaination is the best.
6 years later and no doubt Vivobarefoot is doing well as ever. I'm a recent convert. Tennis player myself who rolled his ankle badly over 2 months ago. To compound I also have a neuroma between the 1st and 2nd metatarsal of the right foot, and mild capsulitis of the phalangeal joint going into my 2nd toe (right foot also). Needless to say, I've been desperate the past couple months, but feel like I've found nirvana when discovering minimalist shoes, Vivobarefoot in particular. Sounds counter-intuitive to the dogma we've all been indoctrinated with, but my feet are much more comfortable in a zero drop, wide toe box shoe with little cushioning and lots of flex. Keep up the great work, my feet thank you.
I absolutely love the vivobarefoot shoes! I started barefoot/xero sandal walking a year ago, but I also needed some shoes that cover my feet as I do student placements at hospitals. These work really great and save me from the ankle pain. Thank you!
Thank you for the video. Two years ago I fixed a life-long lower back problem exactly by addressing my posture. And a big part of the process was exactly to correct the sitting posture that you are describing. One of the exercises I did while driving was to balance my torso without leaning on the back support. The momentum of the car is actually a great exercise tool because you need to compensate for the forces that push you back and forth. Also I found that the balanced sitting position (when you balance your torso as if balancing an upright stick on your finger) is transferable to all upright positions. When we walk or stand we must balance the torso just like balancing while sitting. I'm 49 years old and have been suffering from back issues for 22 years. That is all gone now. All because of corrected posture plus weight exercises that focus on balance (a specific execution of a deadlift that from what I can tell I've invented). Thank you again!
in case you still want to know! he says: "and this can help to broaden the wid.. the shoulders. but sometimes during the course of lying down, you may want to put one arm down" He is speaking really slowly, try to speed up the video a bit, it might help.
Most people are rounded shouldered. It's relaxing the shoulders towards the floor. So helping to have strong open shoulders that do not come forward towards the chest. Hope this helps
thank you so much!! Do you have suggestions for people with head trauma who are not able to place their skulls on books (which re-stimulates their trauma?) kind regards

I have a trapped nerve C5-6 c6-7 I have suffered for almost 12 years and sadly gained an extra 4 1/2 stone or 60lb ,where i cant do my manual job anymore, I have been to so many specialist but nothing seems to help :( I have so much pain today where my arms go numb and lack of sleep is put me at my wits end Can you suggest anything please ?
Jon ... I fell off roof scaffold 2001 and this is what I found worked best of all for pain management and as a tool (self help) in aiding my body to heal itself: SCENAR technology the brainchild of Alexanda Korosev when he worked for Russian Space Program. He has own company called LET medical supplies, Russia. In Australia for an information pack, device & lessons please contact <<enlightenedtherapies.com. There are two devices an ENAR smaller pocket sized device and SCENAR-pro larger device with screen (giving therapist more feedback and diff options for treatment). Both devices run on batteries. It is not a TENS device which I have also experienced. Macquarie University, Sydney ran pilot studies on SCENAR device (using basic setting) for pain management. See also ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vtGTile9faU.html Lorraine Beachley surfboard struck her in back of neck and she talks about how scenar helped. I have been treated by SCENAR technology since 2005 and continue to use it when needed to this present day 2017. I know what it is like to loose sleep due to pain ... scenar helps and continues to make a difference to me.
I just became smarter, or more aware. So if I bend at the hip joint, the butt goes back and out more... front is more up and forward, making me breathe deeper. I feel better already.
Tim, question for you. I play tennis barefoot on synthetic turf but not possible on hard courts. Which shoe in your range would be most suited for tennis. I find all specialty tennis shoes now artificially tip you feet inward, for lateral cuts I guess, but I find they cause inner knee problems. So I play barefoot and find movement so much more natural.
+mckenny037 Studying the Alexander technique and transition to bare feet or minimal shoes is my recommended combination. It makes the process easier, enjoyable, and your more likely to succeed.
Dr Paula Moore I'd be interested to know that too. I read here that these conditions might be caused by narrow shoes.... nwfootankle.com/foot-health/drill/3-Problems/143-Hallux%20Limitus%20and%20Rigidus
I've been a Vivo purist and advocate for 5 years now (I've worn nothing else - else I've worn nothing!) and it's great to learn about the backstory to this great product which has certainly brought me back to nature. I'm now free to run marathons, run trails and practice martial arts with nary an ounce of a shin splint, my erstwhile nemesis! Thanks Tim.
Great to hear that Douglas. Its often a long (and sometimes puzzling) process for most people to get used to running in minimal shoes or barefoot. But it's great to hear when someone makes the transition and has a positive experience.
Non shoe wearing people in India and China have been studied by researchers. Their feet were free from the common ailments of shoe wearing populations. I have the reference somewhere if you need it.
Simple exercises like this can go a long way in preventing future discomfort in the back, shoulders and neck. If anybody has trouble with abs exercises because of back or neck pain - visit us at the AbStand for a machine that works while you stand.

I'm going to figure out how to have more sex. My friend has begun going out with a ten simply because 60 days ago he signed up to an internet site called Master Attraction (Google it if you'd like to know more.) I'm so envious because I want to fall in love too. I'm gonna check out this Jake Ayres guy's emails. Funny thing is, my friend once had Zero results with women. How could you transform so fast? His girl's like a model.
Kinda crazy that I just started looking into to transition to barefoot. Then separately I wanted to fix my posture, cause mom said something about it. So maybe like 3 days after I had ordered my xero shoes and started taking steps to transition to barefoot, I got into the alexander technique for posture correction. I've been taking steps for the past few days to help gain a better posture and then I find this youtube account on posture and all the sudden the creator of vivobarefoot is here!!!
