Looking great. Glad you are enjoying the Allett. Have you tried using the Hayter first, and then go over the top with the Allett? I know you will have to adjust for overlap. Given the different sized machines. But it will save you money on blades. And the finish is brilliant. Had my 6 blade cylinder sharpened - cost £100. A new one is more than £500. A Hayter blade is c.£25. And they are a doddle to sharpen. All the best Chris.
Hi. I’ve got full bag of a1 lawn spring summer fertiliser. Do you recommend me using that for my grass or shall I get true grass. Thanks. Loving your content at the minute
Lawns looking lush. I’ve used true grass a few years ago when it was first launched, cost a small fortune for what was literally a cardboard tube of it. Last year I used miracle grow no rake fertiliser. I tell you it’s been one of the best I’ve ever used. I’m also constantly trying others, including the DH products, but that one is the best I’ve used so far, and your lawns are the size of mine so for around £24 it’ll last you the season easily.
Looking good man! I used nematodes today before the match. At half time I found 4x leatherjackets that had come up. In 45 minutes? Explains why I've got bald patches - same as my neighbour. Take care dude!
Do you have any poa in the newly sown lawn? I have a few bits. They stand out as they have stems. The rest of the grass grown from the ground and doesnt form stems like rye so it's easy to spot. Also it grows much faster so spotting the odd blade thats higher is easy. It's impossible not to get it where I am as the grass areas around all have it and the wind blows towards my lawns. They are easy to spot and pull out by the stem though. Once it thickens there will be no visible soil for any the germinate in.
1.5KG per application of true grass @ £18 p/kg and this is your third application from what I can understand. You’ve spent £40 on fertiliser in about a month?! 😳
Cheers 👍🏻 You can feed as soon as you see germination, as long as it’s not too high in nitrogen. Go with a lower feed to begin with and go from there. You want the plant to mature quickly to be resilient. You can pull back on the frequency then 👍🏻
I’ve been feeding every couple of weeks since germination. Low nitrogen, just feeding the soil. But will lay off in a few weeks time once the lawn matures
Mad how you see a lawn one year and think it’s perfect, then with better techniques or feeds/seeds the lawn looks a million times better. Love these vids, but only thing that is annoying me is you seem to be giving negative comments airtime, it’s your garden, your money so buy or do what you want I say. And who is to say you’ll always be in that house with a small lawn.
Cheers 👍🏻 I didn't know einhall had a knapsack until your message now. More than half the price of the one I've been looking at! Some serious food for thought now 😅
Lawns looking good. The turf lines on the top lawn have nicely disappeared. What height of cut do you have atm. Do you still intend to put down liquid seaweed every so often or just use the True Grass?
Cutting at 20mm at the moment, brought the height down this week. I've not put any on yet, but True Grass does contain seaweed. It won't be as much as applying a sole seaweed product though.
You are right, condition the soil to feed the grass. Maybe add an organic feed, chicken pellets but your dog might like them. Water it in well might stop him, rolling in it.😅 Good for your borders as well.
@@NoviceGardener Some dogs,go mad for it😀 I have a jack russell,he's not bothered,he' s more about bothered sun bathing. Silly arse,l have to put a cooled bandanna on him.😄
love your enthusiasm and the way you don’t profess to know everything but you also do give honest opinions and also great tips the cylinder mower is a great addition nothing beats the cut 👍
Ive had a creeping fescue lawn for years and a mistake i made was overfeeding. Creates alot of thatch, sward was too thick which suffered from red thread. Recommend regular vertical cutting.
Mate, to use language that you’ll appreciate, your garden on a whole is looking super boss - massive improvement. Somebody also mentioned this, but definitely get yourself a pair of edging shears. I recently made the switch and they give great results.
You need to move house that has a huge lawn just so you can use that fantastic mower for hours of fun!!! I bet you dream about using it more!! Perhaps you can volunteer to cut all your neighbours lawns 😜😜😎😎👍👏
That's true! It's a shame cylinder mowers are the price they are. We use it all the time, but if you mean the lawns, we don't have kids yet, just a dog who would rather sleep on the grass rather than run on it 😅
Lawns coming along nicely bud. You didn’t show it, I’m sure you did… but watch that lawn rake on the Allett as you lower the cut. It wants to be a good 2mm (if the lawn is nice and flat) higher than the rollers, otherwise it’ll dig in and damage the turf. 👍
The turf on the top tier looks great or as said in Liverpool, (my wife is from Garston) that's boss that. It's interesting what you mentioned regarding products. If I told you most things you apply are already present in the soil, would you be surprised?
Cheers 👍🏻 And you're bang on. Some are some cracking lawns out there that just have the perfect soil biology! Hoping the roots of the bent/fescue will start to improve the soil profile over the years.
Only time will tell! The quality of the bottom tier is starting to get there now - footage in this video is about a week old. But the bottom tier is really coming along now!
Looking really great, I'd use some edging shears instead of a strimmer and an edging cutter to neaten the edges alongside the wood edging to keep it all square and tucked in. Anyway, I'm nobody to advise as I'm more novicerer than thou :D
