I just love foxes 🦊 I like next door to a grocery shop and they don't pick their litter up ! So I frequently have rats grr causing damage in my garden, like gnawing trying to get into my home - they are tenacious little creatures ! Then about a month ago I saw two baby fox cubs playing 😍 Mom must of been watching from under the privets! I'm so glad Mom feels safe enough to let her babies play ! So re the rats ....the Calvery have arrived!! Honestly if anyone has an outdoor rat problem foxes or terrier dogs are the solution! And it's far more humane that rat poison ( which kill wildlife if they eat a poisoned dead rat 😢) I enjoyed the video Love from an urban area in the UK ! : ).
Good info, but... This is a horribly produced video. There is no real life interaction with a human. There is no actual person in this video, just cut aways of fennec foxes being silly. Lastly the person voicing this is extremely monotone and bored. I shut it off after 30 seconds because it is so bad. I came back a few days later and suffered through it because it does contain useful information, but there are much better videos out there.
I've often thought that foxes are cat-like dogs. The grey fox having fully retractable claws makes me wonder if foxes are actually an evolutionary link between cats and dogs.
For the last year or so, I've had a den of grey foxes living on my property. Their den is very close to my house. I see a grey fox almost every day. They usually appear in the late afternoon, and early evening. I love watching these guys!
My cute little kitty Blackie doesn't like foxes and attacks them if they come into the yard and he is there. Blackie is a delicate 22 pound beast that spends 18 hours a day outside. He is considerably larger than the local foxes.
Anybody that would welcome a fox den, I would recommend letting a corner of your property get very brushy, the denser the better. If they can feel hidden in the foliage, and it’s a spot that dogs can’t reach, they may go for it.
the outro is soo cute!! i'm doing my undergrad thesis on the evolutionary genetics of grey foxes and this video made me even more excited about it haha 😀
BS ! I owned a Red Dox as a pet, the scent glands in their anus is the exact same gland as your dog has . They’re called Anal Glands and they don’t have “ other glands “ 🙄 they also don’t have any body odor what so ever, kind of like a cat. Their urine however, it’s pretty rank and has to be smelled to be believed. That was the only off putting thing about owning a pet Fox and yes, they will mark stuff with their urine IF YOU LET THEM…..again, kinda like a dog marking its territory. They have to be trained and can be trained just like a dog. They’re more like a cat than a dog , very quiet . Management inside your home is a MUST or they will destroy it …. and mark everything as their own . Not a pet for beginners and definitely not a pet for lazy
I have a female fox and her 2 cubs that come into my garden, I do leave food out for them which is dog food and biscuits with fresh water, along with boiled eggs and apples, they love to munch about in my garden and they also adventure in to next doors garden, they are also good with my 3 cats, one of them is not full adult and very small, they are all strays that I have taken in but they are never attacked by the foxes, the foxes know I watch them but from inside the house from the window, I know if I went into the garden then would run so nobody from my household would disturb them when they come to visit.
I live in the Netherlands which is very urban due to not having much space. I see cats and foxes roam the streets at night and crossing paths on the daily. There are no issues between them. Since the foxes but also all other rodents and birds are docile here in this country, and there’s a plenty of rabbits, they rather hunt the rabbits and birds together at nights.
Well i lost my cat 2 days ago he wasnt sick or anything... And i think it was a fox. Because their isnt any big predators here. and we also live quite remote. I was just talking to the neighbor inside. and my cat also wanted to go inside, but I left him outside because my neighbor would rather not have it in his home.. so he was meowing outside the door. Half an hour to an hour later I walked outside again. and immediately called him to go inside. only he's still not back. very strange because my cat listens better than 70% of all dogs. so yes my heart is broken.... be careful with your animal if you love him. because before you know it it's too late...
This retractable claws thing is something u just read someplace….it is very rare to see a red fox in a tree too……they are excellent jumpers but dont have the wrists the turn like a grey fox which is how it can climb so easily
