Welcome, I’m a modeller/collector in the process of building a 8’x4’ OO gauge layout based on British Rails 1980's railway to the present day depending on what rolling stock I wish to run. The layout has been split into two sides. One side has a Locomotive depot called March West Junction TMD & on the other side I have a small town that is served by a small station called March West Junction. The station has two main platforms and one terminus platform. At the signal box end of the station I have created an old disconnected branch line junction that is in the process in the model world of being reinstated to connect to the next town down the line named Trecwn Valley, this is another layout I'm modelling on this channel but this time in OO/OO9. I will be uploading videos on both projects on this channel so please pop back regularly, or you could subscribe (it's FREE) & you will automatically be notified on future videos on both projects. You can also follow me on Twitter at @MarchTmd
For all of those complaining that it's the manufacturers fault and reliance on digital platforms - the shop is winding up because of the shop owners age and there isn't an heir to pass it on to. His wife of many years passed away during Covid and he lives too far away from the shop - he fully deserves his retirement for all he has given the industry and the local area. In his own words 'be grateful for what you've got'
Hi Andy, It's absolutely fantastic how it's coming together very nice video love the van detail have a great bank holiday my friend best regards Mark vickery 👍👍
Coming along nicely, Andy. With some nice details being added, I think Dylan is looking forward to creating the scenery on his 009 layout. He's been asked if he wants to take it to the 009 society exhibition at the Portland College Mansfield in October as a work in progress layout. He's interested in going, so we'll see what happens with that. An enjoyable update video...cheers James 🙂👍
I had this set. I used the Airfix British paratroopers as the "goodies" who would storm Dr X's lair and fight the black plastic commandos. Sometimes they'd stop the missile launching, Sometimes they didn't.
I think the offer is changing. I was chatting to the staff and they said the offer starting from Monday needs to be better. They hey were thinking of giving customers a large bag and say fill it for an amount. But this has not been confirmed. Note the opening times are 10:00 till 4:30 but they might close early 👍
@@MarchWestJunctionTMD the large bag thing didn't seem to come about. However Bachmann Peak, Hornby Class 60, 4 x Bachmann Royal Mail TPO's, a building and a dynamis point decoder for less than £190. I'd say thats a bargain. Thanks for sharing mate
Hi Andy,I love the layout and videos. I don’t normally comment but have to say a big thank you for this one, as a new modeller I’m on a budget and buy mostly s/hand but had to drive up for this deal and I’m over the moon on my pick-ups especially as I was saving up for a Fairlie and ended up with a Hunslet as well!! Again a big thank you and looking forward to some more videos!!! 👏🏻👍🏻😀
That’s great news I’m so pleased for you 👍 I’ve had a bit of flack with people saying it’s a con and it’s too good to be true. More fools them. Thank you for your support and happy modelling Andy
The issue is our reliance on the Internet is killing the physical retail businesses. Also the manufacturers and big retailers can afford to slap 50% discounts on models in flash sales where smaller retailers can't. But saying that some of the newer companies and some of the smaller businesses have realised this change and are now redesigning and improving their websites to show their vast range of new and used models. This does help as most younger modellers (including myself) will tend to buy online as they don't get time to visit a physical store either due to no car or due to being busy in life working during the day or weekends.
None of this is true in this case. It's winding up because of the shop owners age and there isn't an heir to pass it on to. His wife of many years passed away during Covid and he lives too far away from the shop - he fully deserves his retirement for all he has given the industry and the local area. In his own words 'be grateful for what you've got'
@@PolishThatHandle346 Totally agree Mr Oakes does deserve his retirement 👍 just a shame no one could take the business on. It’s a very diverse shop being a department store not just model railways
Hi Andy so sad these small shops are closing Tennants in Halesowen now closed for good the guy on Bilston market sadly gone aswell keep well my friend nice items best regards Mark vickery
Sadly this is the consequence of the majority of manufacturers selling direct and competing against retailers, often undercutting them with bundle discounts, reward points etc., retailers are the very lifeblood of the hobby and we need them if the hobby is to survive
To be fair the business is doing fine the problem is that Mr Oakes is not very well and has decided to retire and they have no one to take the business on.
So sad to see another shop closing but wow some serious bargains there Andy especially the class 37s. Great video, I hope you and your family are well.
Hi Josh yes it’s a great little layout with some fantastic details. It just shows how much you can fit into a O gauge layout. Thank you for watching and commenting and I hope your mom has a fantastic birthday tomorrow
