From Junior Boxer to Coach, Chris started boxing at 10 years old for his local amateur club, after joining the army he continued boxing while stationed in Germany, becoming a senior boxer he boxed for the army all over the globe. Thwarted by an injury, Chris retired from boxing and returned to his former boxing club to begin training to become a coach.
Starting in 1992, Chris began doing ABA coaching courses, while in the army coaching the dependants team of kids. Once back in the UK Chris began buying equipment from London, and returning to Liverpool to sell it, eventually getting a job with Protech and going on to design his own gear.
Out of this, Pro-am was born, started in 1995, after having being the sole distributor of brands such as Everlast, Grant and Reyes, Chris decided to craft his own unique branded gloves.
Lonsdale sucks never buy any gloves from them 😂😂 Adidas is alright i guess not that good tho, Everlast is meh, i guess it does the job but overall pro am is the best !
Got this head guard recently (also in red) and I'm very happy with it - it's light and comfortable so I get to keep my head movement while sparring. Protects everything I need and anti slip lining works well. Weighs exactly 200 grams, as advertised.

Casanova are beautifully made no doubt, my only gripes would be, they are more than double the weight of ours and the leather lining gets slippery with sweat, that's why the Pro-am are more up dated, modern and sell 10 times more

Hey Chris, how is the sizing on your pro sparring headguardr? I'm an adult male, age 23, 5'3 fighting at 119. I'd say I have an average sized head. I'm thinking about getting the size small, but I'm afraid it may be to tight. Would you recommend a small or medium for me?
Like these kind of videos on boxing current affairs and looking forward to more vids with fighters/coaches. Well done for the comments on the algerian female boxer, people talking load of crap dont know or care to know the whole story. She was even at Tokyo 2020 and there was no controversy. Would love to hear your thoughts on the current state of AIBA or IBA, they seem to pbe putting on pro shows and even quite a bit of prize money for world championships. Makes me laugh wwhen people from UK using the term woke lol makes me cringe.

You're quite right. it seems like a lack of respect among newer coaches, the newer coaches seem to pass.level.1 (assistant coach) and have a huge ego thinking they know everything and the rest know nothing
@chrisfirth8610 Eh, seems like the old coaches think they know everything and think everyone else is doing it wrong, because they're not doing it their way, but what do I know.
@sothis1448 , as an athlete or a coachbin any sport, you cannot beat experience, you should never stop learning, if you think you have learned everything on the beginning of your journey, you are only fooling yourself and those around you
Excellent video Chris. I recently got a pair of club range gloves and the leather is fantastic quality for the money. Can't wait to try more gloves from you.
Will you add In the future the option to have the glove without the union jack on the thumb for the club/intermediate range? I'm big fan of your gloves especially the club range, best quality/price gloves on the market imo
the union jack is to denote, designed in the U.K. our U.S. shop stocks the club range without it in different colour ways, if you are from the Americas order @proamboxing-usa on Instagram, alternatively you can pay extra and have a custom made glove without. I am proud of my heritage and my designs and being an army veteran I am happy to show my colours, as you are I guess.

Like I said, it was a quick wrap, normally it takes at least 10 minutes per hand, if we were to show the full process, it would be a boring show, I have been wrapping hands like this for over 25 years, including many world champions, never a problem. I challenge you to do a pro wrap as quick as this
the air aspect id the same as all our air mitt range, which most of our copiers do not get or understand. there is an empty space within the layers of foam, this holds the shock wave on impact, lessening the impact on the coaches elbow and shoulder joints. I cant really say or go into it further, as it would be giving away more secrets and aid every one of those others who copy every new idea we have, as they have no direct experience in using any real boxing equipment, they all rely on people like me coming out with ideas to copy for there brand or brands they make for
I got your Club Range gloves in blue recently! Great gloves, I'm going to start bringing it to the gym next week, but I was wondering about the laminated cover for the padding on gloves. I saw your video on the construction of boxing gloves, showing the inside of Prize Ring gloves to have a plastic cover, and I also read the description of the new horsehair competition gloves, is this a common practice within the glove industry?
different brands, if good quality will have their own ways of construction method, some will use the plastic bag type to make a tight fit when the foam id pushed inside the outer leather, so it is easy to slide inside. Most brands have a favourite supplier, all make in a similar way, the " cheaper" factories will copy older ways of construction, the old way horse hair gloves were made are like our older gloves, some still use this way because they do not know any other way through lack of experience, eventually they will all copy the way we make them as it is evolution, someone will get their hands on a pair of our gloves and pass it to a factory to copy, this has happened to us for many years, being the only boxing people who run a brand like this, we have a better insight how to improve equipment than the rest. We recently ranked as one of the best in horse hair fight gloves on Fit2box, you will see most of the big name brands rank far lower than us on his site, because they have not caught up yet and see if you agree with his rankings, its a good site and RU-vid show
@@Proamboxingequipment I see, I’m 15 and I’m really interested in glove craftsmanship and I might try making gloves in the future once I get a job to buy materials, by the way, do the Club Range gloves use 3+ layers of foam or only two? I heard that multilayer means 3 or more and padding that isn’t multilayer is just 1 or 2, which is apparently the minimum. Also are the gloves injected foam? I’m confused with terminology. Thanks.
@@HighGuarder multi layer is minimum 3 layers of foam, injection moulded, is a hard mould shaped like a glove with liquid foam poured into it, when it hardens it will be a complete gloves shaped piece of foam, not really hard wearing enough and used for cheaper gloves and amateur competition gloves

the horse hair fight gloves are in stock, the training gloves in 14oz and 16oz, we have at least one pair of each left from the first trial batch in black and gold, the new colours will be in 6 to 8 weeks

Hi, will a 10oz Club glove be protective enough for full power shots on the heavy bag? Also what material are your hand wraps made from, are they cotton? Thanks
yes the 10oz club are popular as a bag glove and more padding than a 10oz fight glove, the handwraps are a cotton polyesther mix so are slightly stretchy, the original stretch Mexican wraps, all the rest are copies
we are nor sure what to do about the intermediate gloves, they are a great glove but didn't sell too well on the internet, I think because one reviewer said it was too much messing with the double wrap around strap that locked the wrist and thumb
In the website for the pro sparring velcro one, there is no white option for colour and also there is no option to choose size. I hope this can be fixed because I'm dead set on buying white 16oz pro sparring velcro 😂
Im definitely going to buy a pair now that the wrist strap has been shortened. Also i want to say that it took me a few months of seeing the logo to finally realize its the front of a glove lol.
next delivery end of summer we should have the lime colour in all the club gloves, we have a few pairs in the new lace up and we have the lime colour in everything else
Hi, is the hand compartment the same size over all the different weights of the glove? I have the 16oz but would like some 10 or 12oz but not sure if they will be too small. Thanks
@@jcthegcat yes, I suggest my pro boxers use a smaller glove for bag and pads same as their fight gloves they would use, so if you would prefer a 10oz they fit the same as the 12oz
Yeah, that lime color is a great-looking color, not surprised it's the most popular. You could perhaps do small batches of different special colors every few months, like a pink/black, yellow/light blue, maroon/teal etc. like 2 pairs for every size and see how it goes. Personally, I like gloves to have 2 or more different colored leathers, and making them in small batches in different colorways would make them feel more special knowing that colorway might not come back in a while.
I was thinking limited edition runs of special duel colours on the pro sparring or maybe a reptile print leather of a second colour, like the black and silver pro fight gloves we made, soon to be seen on Fit2box
You recommended 10oz intermediate for bags and pad work I took that advice and love how they perform. Would you say that the club range also sizes down to 10oz similarly?
In my opinion boxing shoes should be stable and in certain directions flexible. But all shoes should be lightweight as most as possible.If you dont know which one u should by try Adidas Box Hog, cant go wrong with them as price is also on the lower end. Used them the last 10 years for training (5 pairs). Now trying Nike Hyper KO 2 (wanted the hyperKo 1 but cant buy them /find them anymore).
