I think think if you haven‘t tried them, then don‘t judge them. It is not a very useful list for undecided users. Also the NUX MG30 has been constantly updated…
Lolol the Boss GT 1000 series boots up almost instantly and has the lowest latency of all these by far. And its got the most realistic feel of anything here. Its EASILY A-B tier if you arent clueless.
I haven't tried the fractal *would love to* it's big and expensive but the tones are from what I can tell the best. User interface, nowhere close to QC, but navigatable. I'd have it minimum high C, probably B. Agreed about QC, sound, ease of use, it has the lot.
I also want to try the fractal, I recently saw their artist list. If you haven't yet take a look. Then ask yourself why, when they could choose to use anything they wanted, people as successful and of varied genres like John Mayer, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, the Edge, John Petrucci, Matt Bellamy, Guthrie Govan etc use Fractal. I'm not even a fan of all of them but I can't deny they're all incredible musicians and I struggle to believe they're all using a C tier product. Not a chance. Helix, Fractal and QC should be neck and neck. Also, the QC still doesn't have all the full plugin capabilities it should yet so many of the customers who pre-ordered it are not impressed they still don't have everything they were promised years after launch.
It’s odd, they seem to be a little exclusive. Like a premium product but that makes them hard to clarify for lists like this, though they cannot be omitted.
The fact you want to put profilers Over modelers. Many profilers have too many limitations and just don't deliver the sounds without hundreds of profiles and they lack the tries adjustability.
Totally disagree. The TMP is far superior to some of the units you rated higher. The UI, and the ease of getting superior tones to many. Also the TMP was just on special for 1400.00 compared to the cost of the others in its class it's no more expensive.
All these pieces of gear go on offer occasionally, we have to take the normal list price. We found that the tones were no better/worse than the helix, which has substantially more amp models, not to mention all the effects, etc, and is much cheaper.
Cheers brother 👍 thanks for the video 📹. I own the og big Tonex 😎 and share the excitement 😀 Super duper cool @IkMultimedia 😎 🎉 Glad you're tuned into the market and the legend continues....
Given that I’m not familiar with the tones, it’s a modeller only which costs profiler money. I’d love to try one someday, to see if it deserves a higher spot.
@@PBOD I own a QC adn I've played extensively with a FM9, when it comes to tones in my opinion they're at least on par, and for some specific tones I might even have a small preference towards the FM9, the unit sounds absolutely phenomenal, in particular when it comes to high-gain tones. The QC wins hands down in every other aspect: the touch screen makes it 10x easier to use, even without a PC, the layout is much more user fiendly and the way you can set it up even visually to simulate a full analog rig is priceless, and I love the fact that you can interact in real time while playing with the virtual signal chain the same way you would if you had all the amps and pedals on front of you, without mentioning the fact that the QC is also a profiler and the FM9 is only a modeler, and the QC (at least here in Europe) costs about 200€ less than the FM9. This being said, if the QC is S tier (rightfully so imho) the FM9 should be at least A tier.
I had a ToneX a year ago. But i brought it back to the store. Today i bought one again. Why? Because now it comes with a pack of effects in the box in november. I like that! I have a Kemper player. I don't want to upgrade for $300! Instead i bought the ToneX again for just $75 more.
Now that’s a statement! You’d rather buy the Tonex again rather than pay the upgrade for the kemper player, that’s something we can totally get behind!
I like your channel but I would say that rating devices without actually testing them out personally seems not the most helpful. That being said I would agree with putting tmp in c and qc in the S tier
Thanks for the input, it was a toss up between omitting important pedals due to having not played them, OR basing it on functionality and feed back from close friends. The only ones I’m not sure about are the Fractal gear
@@PBOD it’s probably because people are used to everyone having their audio at levels that are too high. I have headphones on. I’m only at the beginning. It sounds good to me. Quieter than other videos though. Listening through a phone? People are just used to videos being louder. I clocked a JHS recommended vid to compare and it’s definitely louder. I just checked another and came back. It’s not that far off. I’d say just compare to other videos on RU-vid when you render the video to see how close it is to matching other videos. You may already do that. RU-vid is known for having videos excessively loud if you’re just rendering to meters and such.
There's a Stoner Rock sub genre called Stoner Trem? TremOmania is running wild all over the world brother, what you guna do when all the little TremOmaniacs come for you brother?
Yes, they set an expectation that updates for their products are free much like the rest of the industry. The model has been to charge a high initial price for the hardware but then provide long lasting continued support and updates for quite some time. People would be just as upset if line 6 did the same with the Helix range.
So...the Tonex can do captures with no extra devices? My Nano Cortex can do that. I'm sure the Tonex is a great product but I dont think it should be compared to Nano Cortex. Nano Cortex fills a specific need and Tonex is trying to do everything but failing at the capture thing without extra hardware.
Did you watch the full video Johnny? We did say that the update doesn’t bring the Tonex up to full feature parity with the nano and specifically noted that you can’t do captures on the Tonex directly. We’ll have to agree to disagree that they shouldn’t be compared, they are both designed to play back captures with some limited effects built in. The Tonex can’t capture directly no, but it’s also significantly cheaper and comes with a lot of preloaded models and captures.
Honestly, all of these are absolutely amazing options. You can't go wrong with any of them (coming from a guy who's been playing guitar for 35+ years). I think it just comes down to what has the best end-user experience. I.e., what's the most fun and least frustrating to mess around with. Because you'll end up with killer tones with all of these. To me, Tonex isn't it, but for someone else it very well could be. I just really find IK's approach to everything from software installation to licensing to maintenance outdated and cumbersome. Bottom line, these are all a means to an end - to PLAY GUITAR and sound as good as we can... And that's limited by our skill, not our gear. Have fun y'all!
I appreciate the new update but you have to pay for the FXs. I was a little disappointed to see that. I have my Tonex One in the FX Loop of my HX Stomp and can run all my FXs through that.
@@PBOD weird I’ll have to check again. Last time I used it, it shows the different pedals like delay, but they were greyed out and said I have to purchase. Maybe it was a bug or something.
IK for the win!! I’ve had a Kemper and I liked it. Then traded it for a QC. It was ok. I never really bonded with it. Then I bought a ToneX and loved it! It does everything I want it to do. The addition of the modulations is a big plus. I like my own delays and reverbs. But I’m a lot less opinionated in modulations so that’s a fantastic bonus.
I think Neural really overestimates how many users need to profile their own stuff. It's a cool feature, but if you are happy using someone else's captures, ToneX is the cheaper option.
After a lot of hesitation i pulled the trigger on the tone x one. Damn man iam no fan of modeling and to much pc on guitar but this thing is so damn cool man!
@@PBOD i have for two weeks now. The library is just damn massive and even for highgain is so much different stuff there. Now there are effects nothing left to wish for😅 i play that thing on a daily basis into a sd powerstage hokked up to a 2x12 🫶
I have the ToneX pedal and I’ve loved it since getting it day one. I told all my friends that it would have to be capable of updates. That we could possibly see a tuner added in the future. When the tuner was added I was like. Oh my god. They’re gonna do effects next. I was told it wasn’t gonna happen. Well well well. What do we have here? To say im excited would be an understatement! I am so pumped! And cannot wait. I’ll be ready to update that bad boy as soon as it drops. If I’m working that day. I may come down with a cold or something. Purely by coincidence 😆😆 #ikmedia is killing it!
Looking forward to the update to see if it changes my mind, but I never got on with my Tonex pedal. Cannot do much on the app to control the pedal parameters (the software models never sound so good). And I swear it never feels as good as my other units (QC and Kemper) - the initial note attack never feels realistic, nor do multi string bends (country style).
Hi sir, can you make a video about the output from tonex pedal. Like from tonex mono out to amp or return or how to hook it up. all those options. cause I dont see any videos regarding on that matter.
If you mean effects loop. It doesn’t have one. But you think of it like an amp. So I put my effects after the ToneX pedal into the PA. If you’re using an amp with the ToneX pedal turn off the cab in settings. With the FX coming I will no longer be needing those pedals… my buddy got to try the beta version and said the effects are phenomenal and I won’t need any of my Boss effects once it drops. I’m pumped about that.
@@mynameismudd1518 oh thank you for this. Sorry Im new to this game lol. I already use it on live so if I will use the house or mixer or any direct speakers I will use the right output which is the stereo or still use the Left output which is the mono? Again thank you for the reply sir.
Oh shit, wow. My main issue with the Tonex pedal was that it didn't have effects, and I couldn't justify the price when the HX Stomp was like, right there, with amps AND effects. Wow wow wow. Makes me kinda regret this Mustang GTX 100 I just got.
The effect update has me super intrigued about the Tonex now. I saved up oney for a Hotone Ampero 2 but the AD/DA latency was dogshit so I returned the damned thing. The Tonex has very low latency and with more effects, at the price its going for, seems unbeatable.
You won’t regret getting the ToneX it’s so good. I’ve sold my Amps and it’s the only thing I use now. I go from the pedal straight to the PA and it’s the best investment I’ve made. Even in the studio it’s hands done the best decision I’ve made. Go for it!
Something is not right there, you absolutely do not have to pay additional fees unless you are trying to purchase an amp pack uploaded by other creators.
Did I not show off the clean tones?! 🤣🤣🤣 Rookie error. I did a video on my other channel and it shows off the clean channel right at the end ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MT5qPWTUDYs.htmlsi=Sq-Oe_GiA0yaRi0o
