This was very clear and easy to see and understand! I have watched lots of warping videos, but I was always left confused about how to keep the strings from getting all tangled and out of order. I have a much better feeling about it, and your explanation of how to use the lease sticks to keep the warp flat before you run in through the heddle was helpful. It was also funny about the multi tasking! 😁 I can’t wait to try this! I thought I would have to get a lot more equipment, but since I have a heddle already, with a few strips of cloth and tongue depressors I can do this!
I was happy to learn how you warp and begin weaving, and when you added in all the situations you can weave in, I began smiling like a cheshire cat. Thank you for cheering me up, this miserable evening.
What ever length you want to make it. Just remember to account for tying the ends, after you can make the fringe from it. If you want a 12” band add about 8” or more both ends, that should give you enough for tying both ends and the fringe. Hope that helps you.
@@susanwiseman4851 Hi! Thinking about starting to weave, but not sure about the lenght. Do you mean that for a 12" band, you would need 12+8+8 so 28" total? If so, does that mean 28" when it's doubled? What i mean is, when you were doing the 8 around the chair feet, is it 28" of distance between the chair feet, or it's 28" total of yarn so 14" of distance between the chair feet?
@@mariechan yes for a 12” band length, you need at least 28” total from chair leg to chair leg. You will need to experiment to find what length you like best for your ends. You don’t need to use chairs. You can use two c-clamps or two wooden dowels as long as you can clamp them from one place to another for winding your warp. For example, from a windowsill to a table or chair back, or from one end of your table top to the other or your kitchen counter top to your table, that way you’re not limited to length. Whatever works best for you, but have fun doing it!
When threading the heddles..does one thread goes through a slot on both heddles, and the next thread go through the holes in both heddles? or does the thread go through the SLOT in the BACK heddle and then through the HOLE in the FRONT heddle...alternating slot (back heddle), hole ( front heddle) and then HOLE (back heddle), SLOT (front heddle)
im glad it helped bc I think some of the cuts actually cut it out (edgars edited it as a non weaver so sometimes it just zoomed across haha) But we are finally ready for more videos. As you see our son now is bigger and there is time:) Happy weaving to you and if you have any questions follow the internet trail to write me.
@@a1q369 We should make a video of weaving in different situations haha Im getting ready for a flight in two days and I am making a warp, with extra patterns (its long) but I found it hard to weave at airports because everyone is asking what you are doing hehe
I'm tempted. I have a rigid heddle loom and thought I'd never be interested in bands, but I really want to make bag straps, and this looks fun and easy, besides not using much equipment. May I ask what weight yarn is suitable for the pocket loom, please?
Hi, really any unless it is too chunky or some strange texture. Its always good to start with cotton or something similar and smooth/natural. If you have a finer weight you have a more narrow band and vis versa.
Thank you for this very clear assembly video. I got my order for the heddler v2 a couple of days ago and even though it was easy to assemble it's nice to be able to confirm that I did it right 🙂 I do hope there will be more videos coming, not only on how to warp this beautiful little loom but also how to use it with the heddle and also how to use it for card weaving. Thank you very much, Patrizia 💜🖤💚
It's a nice little loom but your demo does not show the where the yarn comes from just that it is on a couple of bottles . How does it get there and from where. Once you start weaving it's good no one could get it started . You need to show the yarn before it gets on the bottles then all is good.
Thank you for showing the Backstrap Loom with a Heddle. My Italian grandparents made large rugs with this method. I didn't know this until we bought their house and found the Heddle in the basement. My dad said they tied the strings to the doorknob and 2 other people manned the heddle!
I have not woven anything since about the 5th grade, and that was in the 1960s, I thought about getting into it a bit for a hobby. Your video was very interesting and informative but there was one point that I can’t understand. Why do you cross over the threads in the middle? Thanks
the order of the colors do impact the designs in ,,simple weave,, but even with a heddle like this you can make more designs more complicated. Have you figured something else out since its been a while since i look at comments;)
You're funny! Thanks for this video. I've seen pictures or clips of people backstrap weaving. They were wider with more intricate patterns, so the simplicity of the basic set up wasn't clear. I watched this and I can do this!
