hey that was a very helpful video! any chance you still got that part number for your spare gasket where the PAIR air pipe went into the cylinder head - i wasn't so lucky to have my stay on the cylinder side - and i can't seem to find that part # anywhere easy on the internet

The line on top of the carb stays. That’s for the slider and runs up to the air box. The vac line to the petcock you should cap off at the T or if everything is deleted you should cap off on the carb

After market tanks have evaporation vent too, i guess because any fluid evaporates enclouding gasoline. they just have hose to blow it in the air. You can connect the vent hose from any tank to the canister and save the gas from getting in the air.

Why do we have to remove it at all ???? It only opens when your throttle is closed on deceleration and have absolutely no effect on your performance. Without it, well.... you just blow more crap in the air for no apparent reason. We all just like to play with our bikes. That's all.

Ok #1. learn how to come to a complete stop at stop signs, this will assist in prolonging your life. #2. Learn to rev that fuck'n thing. You have no Idea how to ride a single cylinder motorcycle. Rev the shit out of it. Ride it like you stole it. Putt -putting around will polish your cylinder walls so that they look like a mirror, and when they do , They will no longer be able to keep oil on the cylinder walls. It is the machining cross hatches visible in the cylinder wall that helps to retain oil. You should never have gotten out of second gear in that slow jaunt you just took. That engine will thrive and come to life when it is ridden properly. Many folks think these bikes are sluggish, they ride like you. At 5:15 when you left the intersection, you should have revved that thing three times higher than you did. What are you afraid of? You shifted at 5:21 and are basically lugging that thing around never getting in to it's comfort zone. Read about how to ride a single cylinder bike, you'll be glad you did. Do not be lazy with your stopping and traffic lane changes. Take some training, you'll learn important stuff. Practice emergency stopping/ moving out of the way of stuff. Take this a little more seriously.

I noticed my DR650 was pretty lean out of the box. It was dying at stoplights as I rode it home from the dealer (it had zero miles). It's kind of ironed itself out just from breaking it in and riding it. I think it's important to remember that the jury will always be out until the bike is completely warmed up. No conclusion can really be made until you can feel the heat from that oil cooler on your right leg.

Anything from idle to 1/4 throttle has to do with your idle mixture screw and pilot jet. It definitely sounds like it. I would check your fuel/air mixture screw, it sounds lean, either to much air or not enough fuel. Not sure if yours is a fuel or air screw. It's easy to do, if your handy with carb stuff.

I have the same skid plate on my 2040 DR650. One thing that is recommended is to remove the upper chain roller, the chain can flip over the top and snap it off and tear a hole in the frame. It will also run better if you delete the PAR valve. When you put you new fuel tank on, remove the tiny fuel filter that is inside of the fuel inlet tube to the carburetor and install an inline filter. I also installed a pair of valve covers with cooling fins on them to help keep the top of the engine a little cooler, you can get those from Shotcraft.

Only thing I would comment - my understanding is its injecting extra fresh air into the hot exhaust manifold to combust unburnt fuel/air mix that gets through the valve overlap, rather than just diluting the air mix coming out the exhaust. Its why you get all the popping when you roll off the throttle with the stock systems.
