Hi there, my name is Matt and ill be your resident motorcycle nut!
I created this channel in 2017 mainly for my onboards for racing but during this time i developed a passion and love for making videos.
This channel will be aimed primarily at fabrication, moto camping and racing. If you are in to that kind of stuff then YOU are my people and you've come to the right place!

To date i've built 3 custom motorcycles, raced over 5 different bikes and fabricated hundred of motorcycle parts.
Join me on my quest to make old neglected bikes breath life again whilst also racing an absolute fire breathing 190hp monster of a Yamaha R1.

I am aiming to make my more of a vlog style video with everything that i post now, especially the racing content. it will show a unique incite into the processes, trials and tribulations of racing a superbike.

Enjoy the videos and be kind to one another!

Matt.

I am converting my 1993 1100 Virago to a single Mikunioz carb. The info from Maikunioz is that if running a fuel pump, the carb might overflow. I was going to go gravity feed fuel to the single carb. How do you run your Virago fuel line to the carb? Thanks

Hello, Could you help me with my virago? I bought monometer and one monometer showing 3 time wide range of jumping arrow than another. Arrow jump up down, but another look much narrow. What could it be? I know it was small hole on diaphragm could it be related with it?

Hi i definetly fell into the tm38 single conversion trap. I've tried the 15 pilot and bought 17,5 pilot also. I just cant get it tuned. the carb backfires into the carb when giving slightest of throttle. did you have any backfiring issues with the low pilots? I can drive it by slowly lifting the throttle with the needle on the richest setting. im kinda on my wits end with this. Do I just need way bigger pilot jet to run it somehow.
@tatul9082
@tatul9082 Месяц назад
I dont know whats the problem on mine I just installed it and when giving slightest of throttle it stalls and backfires into to the carb. it feels like the pilot would be glogged but it isnt. I guess I have to check that the carb gets enough gas from the tank. maeby float is off somehow?

how'd you deal with the petcock? I ripped the stock lines out with the carb, plugged what I suppose is the vacuum for the stock carbs (the smaller outlet) and ran an 8mm line with an inline filter from the petcock to the carb, but now the bike only works on 'PRI'. 🤔

Someone elaborate. I have a xv700 with a very similar issue. For one I believe it is clogged. Get a new valve or clean it then get ready to mess with your carb a bunch.

Ride now and rebuild later ( if you think it’s necessary :) I bought my 1981 XV920RH chain drive, brand new in 1981. It’s still in my garage although it’s been upgraded over the years and not completely stock anymore. It’s been up and down both coasts of North America and from coast to coast a few times as well. Gotta Love big v twins 😎

Way too low idle. Asking for the cams to seize due to lack of oil been pumped upwards. You will get away with it for a while. Loosen one of the oil pipes at the top and see the different amount of oil that is pushed up between 750 rpms and 1000 rpms.

Hi Matt, I'm keen to know some power figures if you visit a dyno to check jetting etc. I'm also off and on with my bike, it's been in bits a year now while dealing with life. I fitted a single carb on a home made manifold and increased torque 10% and only lost 2hp but it peaks lower revs but still pulls to redline, standard it rolled off before redline and it feels much faster now. The dyno visit was a great thing to do.
@mattfranco8715
@mattfranco8715 3 месяца назад
I Havnt taken any of my viragos to the dyno unfortunately! I just tune by feel and reading plugs. Thats mad but! I had a stab at building a manifold from steam pipe a while back and it wasn’t great hahah. I’d like another stab at it from ally aye. That’s a great result but!

I’m currently rebuilding the top end. Follow me on Instagram Matt Franco racing. You can see what I’m up to haha. In short summary, since putting the 750 heads on I’ve had nothing but dramas with oil burning. I’ve come to the conclusion that maybe when I got the timing wrong and valve touched piston I reckon the valve guide maybe got damaged because even after new valve stem seals and a need head gasket etc it still leaked and puffed smoke. So she’s getting a full top end rebuild but the 1000cc heads are going back on.

Beautiful bike m8. If you get sick of the riding position, fit an LSL top yoke and a set of Renthal Superbike handlebars. I've just done that to my 1999 R1 and transformed it. Fantastic job buddy. Many happy miles.

Fantastic videos, fabulous bike. I've loved these Yam v-twins since my mate bought one new in 1981, I think? Always wanted to street-track a TR1 because the chain drive lets you bugger about with wheel width, but have neither the skills required nor the infrastructure necessary 😅. Great seeing you do this buddy and I'm chuffed for you that it started so easily. I haven't seen the road test yet but I bet the mudrange is vastly improved with the extra 250 cc, just wondering if bigger carbs might be a benefit? Anyway enjoy your new sled buddy!

Thanks mate! They are great little bikes. Yeah ideally I’d love to have a chain drive one day so I can get a proper tyre at the rear of this thing!! Yeah the 1000cc was a huge difference. Loved it. The 750 is great and has enough punch I suppose. But the 1000 is just soooo much better haha.

I have an XV1100 but am a bit unsure about the dual rear shocks - they just don't look as good as the stealthy mono-shock. Maybe I need to find a cheap 750 and see if I can fit the 1100 engine into it ... That said, I do want to be able to ride 2-up so maybe dual-shock is the way to go. Your bike has certainly given me food for thought :) And it sounds so good too! Normally the short pipes sound crap but yours sounded really good - I can only imagine they sound even better with the end-caps? I'm also wondering about using a sanding disk on the grinder to make those cooling fins on the cylinders a bit thicker - like on the 750 engine ... but not sure whether that will have any significant detrimental effect to the cooling? Nice work, sir.

If you happen to still have this single carb set up laying around, another RU-vidr (Steve's DYIs) looks to have solved the virago single carb air/fuel cylinder imbalance. It's to do with the cylinder firing order. He used a different intake from what you used, so I'm very curious how the MikuniOz single intake would do with his fix. I was about to pull the trigger on some dual vm or tm38's for my xv1100 until i watched Steve's video. Gives me hope for the single carb setup. His video was just uploaded a few days ago... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u-LvZgdkaPg.htmlsi=djrsuPSeFXCW44S5
