HOW TO upgrade the rear wheel of a 1981 XV750 CAFE RACER. Lots of things went WRONG. 

Thanks mate! It’s a k&N I got off eBay. Had to sacrifice the back section stock airbox to allow it to fit and machined some small spacers. Works brilliantly,

thats handy to know. the gen 2 virago rims are everywhere so i figured it was the easiest option.

Yeah the wheel will be in the same spot.

Yeah I just slid it out abit and boom. Sorted. Yeah I had thoughts about turning down the shoulder of the axle on my lathe but a $20 axle was easier haha

@@mattfranco8715 I made a jig and used a router to mill mine down

@@mattfranco8715 I used a wood router and normal timber bits for the aluminum cover, the jig was a couple bits of box section

I’ve been following your lead Matt. Just drove 6hrs round trip to bring home an ‘85 vx1000 to do this rear wheel conversion and engine transplant into my ‘81 xv750. I’ve heard a 150 tire will fit. Why did u go with a 140? Great video.
