Great video! What size concrete screws did you use? As I know the concrete posts crack/blow easily? Also how many did you use per post? Thanks!

Do I need to add sbr to the mortar mix? And how much water roughly for the mix to get the consistency right?

Hi, how deep is the gravel base, also what kind/size? I'm having a hard time finding consistent answers. Thanks!
@suburbanyobbo9412
@suburbanyobbo9412 10 дней назад
The sub base is constructed using MOT Type 1. It should be at least 4 inches thick, the sub base should be constructed in layers (3 or 4 layers) and each layer compacted using a vibrating plate. The number of passes required with the vibrating plate depends on the vibrating plate, and the MOT Type 1 should be doused with water before compacting. The sub base should either extend slightly beyond the footprint of the paved area or the sub base should be restrained by something solid and inorganic, so as the restraining material will not rot.

First timers, don't be tempted to do it on a hot day. It goes off too quick and you hardly have time to get it out of the bucket. The timing of washing it off is critical. It helps if theres two of you as it sets quickly ( at 20c ) A paddle mixer that fits onto an electric drill worked for me but only just up to the job. If you damp it down whilst working it, it can lead to a weaker mix and lighter colour. I'm a diy er and although my last attempt was better, (on a cooler day), it's a risky job for a novice.

I have a row of 6 setts to do at the front of the entrance to the driveway and was wondering about pointing setts. I havent done flowpoint but thought best way so i arrived here. Looks like a fairly straightforward process but i know what im like at concreting rushing around like a blue arsed fly so can imagine ill be panicking when applying flow point. Ill be doing it though. Great informative video. Thanks

I can't understand why u start at th top an work down. ?. I would work from th bottom up. Then th spacer holds your next timber.

Think it will be so it guarantees an qual gap to his top rail otherwise could end up with a different margin
@KeeronMac

Probably starts at the top so he has a full board at the top. No-one will notice if the bottom board will be trimmed, say the ground was unlevel for example, but it would be very obvious if the top board was cut.

I'm guessing they just back fill it with soil that they've removed and then put some of the turf they dug up or grass seed on top.
