International House is a truly global organisation, with language schools on every continent teaching English and a huge variety of other languages.
Founded by John and Brita Haycraft in 1953, the aim is to guarantee the highest possible standards of education for students. This is maintained through regular inspections of the teaching, facilities and student care in all International House schools.
International House is also famed for its global teacher training departments that offer the CELTA and Trinity ESOL language teaching qualifications. The International House network is considered one of the most prestigious employers for language teachers.
The bottom line is stop using those god damn awful textbooks and let the students learn. On the last day of my CELTA course, we were ACTUALLY TOLD TO let the textbook do the work. I nearly fell off my chair. So, all the training we were given was just a load of bollocks, then?
I congratulate you on this. Your dedication has brought you to this level. I am sure you will take your career to the next level. Kind regards, Sanjeev
Only one complaint: he often tries eliciting responses he expects to get, but doesn't get them. He thinks we know what he wants us to say. Time gets wasted.
Great tips. I am so grateful you did not waste our time. Most RU-vid videos waste our time and you have to listen to 10-15 minutes to get one piece of useful content. You gave us lots of tips very quickly. Thank you.
I don't mean to be heretical, to quote Jeremy, but apart from getting the students to speak with each other and with the teacher, what is it exactly that they learnt from each of the lessons he presents. I personally don't feel i'm giving students their money's worth unless I give them something that's more tangible. Yes, they're bound to have picked up some useful vocabulary, but how much do students learn from each other unless guided a bit more closely?
Another great instructional video. I'm a very experienced qualified presential teacher and have nearly two years of online experience but I'm really interested in making videos for asynchronous instruction and the flipped classroom. Thanks Sandy.
