I think we all know Jordan is not the fastest player in the world. After all, he's not even the fastest player in the AB's. Which is why it's strange how he seems to surprise defenders with his speed. Maybe it's something to do with not looking fast, because his running style doesn't look fast, at least to me watching on TV? Who knows.
Will Jordan is no quicker than most world class wings, he does not have the sidestep at full speed ability like Kolbe. His and Penaud's ability to read the game is what puts them up amongst the best.
For me Caucau was the fastest out of any player I've seen. It was elegant speed because it didn't look like he was trying and his running technique is textbook.
I dont know that he is the fastest, but when you add, evasion, timing, stepping, strength, and running lines, he is easily the best ever, as his tecord shows. He is imperious.
Funny how the title sucks people into the debate. And me. We all know he is not the fastest, but the debate does help us pay attention to what he has… plenty of pace, balance, vision, footwork, good choices, confidence, fitness, spatial awareness, ball handing, accurate chip kicking, composure and presence. And more.
And Isles is even faster. That Era of the two of them in the USA Sevens team was quite something. Especially considering we had Senatla, Speckman, Cheslin, Ioane, Norton and the like, playing at the same time.
Jordan was fast, but he comes nowhere near the likes of Bryan Habana, Cheslin Kolbe of the Springboks....even old Springbok Danie Gerber from the 70/80's would run circles around him
