Flashback to Track is the brain child of Mark Urban and James Armas. We started out as a motorsports podcast with the two of us reviewing old NASCAR races and have now grown in to creating motorsports video content. We're just two racing nerds that love sharing our knowledge and looking back on the best moments in motorsport history. We love telling untold stories and sharing fun facts.

Subscribe to us for motorsport content that doesn't suck.

Regan Smith does good as a pit reporter, but I will always remember him as the guy who drove for Furniture Row *before* it basically became a satellite of JGR.

He was rushed to Cup way too fast. It didn't help that Denny was so much better so much faster. He is very talented and can run any car as fast as it can go without tearing it up. He has made a fantastic career for himself.

Correction- he drove 5 truck races in 2009 for Ron Crosby AND Joey Sonntag. He could have drove most of the season in that truck if he didn’t break his back in sprint car.

A couple things you didn't mention here... Tommy Kendall almost won Sonoma 1992 in relief, but lost it on the last lap Dick Johnson drove a NASCAR oval race in Australia in the 80s, which led him to start his own team and come to America

People are always commenting “he should have stayed on dirt” but the guy is a normal person who has to provide for a family. I’m sure that 99% of people would do the same thing as him if given the opportunity.

speaking of the Le Mans start, in the very last year it was done, Jackie Ickx protested against the Le Mans start by walking to his car, buckling his seatbelt correctly and was the last to leave. He went on to win the race. As if to prove his point, another driver crashed on the opening lap, he died when he was ejected from the car because he hadn't done his harness.

Guys, I have pretty dumb question maybe. The winner of these endurance races is the team that did the most laps on the track? Or simply the team that actually finished the race first? Cause I was watching the Nurburgring 24h and I was pretty confused with the standings

In a nutshell, the race results are determine by mileage. Whoever has the most miles in 24 hours is the winner, position on the track when the checkered flag is waved does not really matter. Technically, when the timer runs out, you can cross the finish line after 5 others and still win! I've seen it happen in the American LeMans series. Ron Fellows came in 17th in POSITION but still won in his racing class! Hell of an achievement, he was beating guys 20 years younger than him!
