As someone who sang this at home sports games in high school, I loved singing the national anthem. As a veteran of the Armed Forces, it hits different, makes me tear up hearing it.
It is interesting how you can heat each word fade in and out as some are unsure of timing hold on longer waiting for others to end, or wait for others to start the next word before they start
Whoever arranged the harmonies for this did an exquisite job, especially on the last 1/3rd of the song. It really pains me to see everything this beautiful anthem represents being eroded daily. 😔
This choir never ceases to amaze me, and make me tear up with how angelic it is. It just so happens that I'm watching this on Memorial Day 2024. It was never my intention today to so, but I am glad I did.
There is a famous quote that goes something like this. It is always darkest before the dawn. Well I’ll just be damned, it looks like the old red, white and blue’s seeing the sun for the first time in a long time.
My 5th Great Uncle, Commodore Joshua Barney, Colonial Navy during the Rdevolution, USN, War of 1812, had the daunting task of protecting packet ships laden with badly needed supplies during the blockade of Baltimore Harbor. When the bombardment of Ft. McHenry started, he ran the blockade, dueling against larger and heavier ships, outmanuvering them, and successfully got the packet fleet to port. This small battle was part of what Frances Scott Key witnessed, and wrote of, in his poem
I feel like I can fight off an army of grizzly bears with my hands tied behind my back without getting a single scratch and I will stand atop the mountain of defeated bears with an American flag while ten bald eagles flying over my head after hearing this. Outstanding.
The members of the KENTUCKY ALL STATE CHOIR have their conference in Louisville every spring. They do this every year. It’s so beautiful, and much more meaningful than those solo performers that sing it like they’re auditioning for a show in Las Vegas. It’s not about YOU. It’s about honoring our country, those who began it and those that have fought to keep it free.
O....m....g! I have seen video of this choir doing this tradition, and I have never heard of version of The Star-Spangled banner this more intense and more prouder in my life! Whoever hit those higher notes, I was amazed! That sent shivers down my spine absolutely 1 billion percent, well done Young people!
As our nation navigates our way through the turmoil, we fiercely possess in this defining age. Let us harken to moments such as these to recall: United we stand. The American Dream and spirit are unalienable; let us stand tall, salute, and honor our brethren who forged this great nation we proudly proclaim today as the United States of America. As we listen to this anthem, remember, it not only heralds the triumphant victory at the Battle of Fort McHenry but also encapsulates our unwavering pride in our republic. "Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto - 'In God is our trust,' And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave."
