You know something just feels wrong about a single person singing any national anthem. A national anthem is the anthem of the people, not one to be sung to you by a single man of that country and for you to listen, it is one for you to join in on. To proclaim your love for your nation.
Me to my American friends: "Hey are you free this weekend?" *American friend looks to the sky, an eagle screams in the distance and a tear slides down their face* "I'm always free..."
Thank You for your service. This song gives me chills every time and I’m humbled by the sacrifices that the men and women who have served this country have made.
Same Lmao, I'm Australian but I Casually sing Star spangled banner for no reason, this video makes me patriotic for a country half way cross the world from me lol
I was sleeping in a hotel as a young lad in Florida once. These angels flew by early in the morning and freaked us out. The only difference is the angles that flew by were the Blue Angels.
Aw that’s so sweet! The Japanese anthem is extremely beautiful too! I love Japan the rich history and culture it has is just absolutely beautiful! Have a wonderful day! From a fellow American to you my Fellow Japanese friend! May our two countries stay Allie’s to the end of time! 🇺🇸🤝🇯🇵
@TheGreatOne-gw7xh actually not true. It's one of the hardest songs to sing because it requires a wide range for the vocalist. It strains your voice a ton
an anthem that was battle born, being sung so beautifully as if heaven itself gave it to the American people though we know it was penned in the defense of Fort McHenry and the music borrowed from the British but put to the poem of Francis Scott Key.
To be fair during KMEA almost every room is booked by people staying at the conference. All-state choir and band as well as almost every music teacher in the state are there.
I'm German; I believe we have a beautiful anthem. But our nation has forfeited the opportunity to experience anything like this. When that big a mass of people sing that gently, it's overwhelming and powerful. A beautiful anthem, an amazing rendition. Outstanding and very touching. 🇺🇸🇩🇪
I was also born and raised in Germany but have multiple ethnic backgrounds- and reading this I couldn’t agree more. It is very sad to see a country lose its patriotism and not being able to experience something like this in your own country.
@@autokrator_ you could technically perform the anthem. It just won't happen. We're taught from very little that patriotism and pride for your country (or at least our country) is a dangerous thing. People would feel awkward if such a performance took place. But to begin with, it would just never happen in these dimensions.
Honestly pisses me off a bit. Germany has hundreds of years of culture, and it continues to evolve and develop long after the Nazi regime fell. You arguably have far more than the US to be proud of and to celebrate, and yet all that is remembered is a few decades that are but a chapter in Germany's history. One could recount the US's failures and atrocities in it's short history, and yet it would not diminish the love her people have for her. I wish that the same would be said of your people.
Please Sir, don’t let something that happened in the past subdue the passion you have for YOUR Country’s Anthem! Have pride in where where you are NOW! Sing way, and I’ll sing with you! Respectful, EM1 (SW) USN-RET, T Sharp. We’ve shed blood together since those days, our Brother.
That buildup though before they even started singing gives us straight chills. As proud as I am of our own glorious anthem, I have to give it to the US for having an anthem just as inspirational as ours. This is how you unite the people
Cole Johnson yo I haven’t gotten a single notification from this comment since I posted it and this is the first one I see since then lol my pleasure dude. 😂
Pierce Nelson actually all state choir is for high school kids from all over the state of Kentucky. I was lucky enough to be chosen when I was in my sophomore-senior years of high school and proud to represent the all state choir for the state of Kentucky 2007, 2008 and 2009
@@faultyd3vil917 it still won't 🤡 until the PEOPLE take it back, it won't be free. Don't rely on politicians from either party, they are all crooked and deserve a painful death.
This is how our returning soldiers should be greeted. By every day Americans singing our anthem collectively without instruments, but with our souls. Absolutely gorgeous rendition of our pride, joy and patriotism of this beloved country.
Version of the National Anthem sung by choirs or played by ensembles are in my opinion so much better then a single pop star singing it with excessive screaming.
America is truly the world’s greatest nation. The only reason we fall behind on the HDI a bit is cuz we’ve got so much food for so cheap leading to an obesity problem lol. Everything else is top notch.
@@PARK-sy3tf As a Canadian I'd argue your healthcare isn't the greatest, but every nation has its flaws and I truly believe that they can be overcome in time
I'm not even American but this anthem makes me cry. The raw emotion contained within it coupled with the actions of those soldiers and patriots at fort Henry is enough to bring any man to his knees in reverence.
I'm American and I have mixed views on everything but for the colonists to revolt against Britian back then was a huge undertaking. Huge pride for them.
This is how I wish the song would be performed when it's broadcasted instead of a single vocalist doing runs through the whole song. This is far more beautiful and touching.
Even though I don't when I just listen to it, if it was played anywhere else, I would have stood up and put my hand over my heart. Even on tv before the Superbowl.
As an inmigrant I can only say thank you America 🇺🇸 for all you have done for me and my family my born country it's in my heart but if one day i need to offer my life to defend America 🇺🇸 that would be an honor God bless America
Ray Burtoff you and people like you are the reason why the American spirit can be held in such high regard, and why our country is loved by so many. God bless
@@icel8828 with an unpracticed voice it can be difficult to jump from “gallantly streaming” to “and the rockets red glare” while staying in tune, especially in full chest voice lol
I am a immigrant from South Africa. I fought for the United States in Iraq. Thank you America for letting me be a part of your family. I will love the United States until the day I die.
Atheb41 feel free to leave you commie fuck. Gotta make shit political even when it’s our nations national anthem. A time when you should take great pride in your country.
@@thatguy4087 - not at all. My oldest daughter was on one of those balconies - it was her senior year and the last time she’d get to be a part of this. I cried then and I cry every time I listen again.
God bless The United States of America, from your close ally, The Philippines. May we continue to build a better society, to protect and defend our rights to fredoom and democracy. 🇺🇸🇵🇭
I was fortunate enough to be at one of these hotels when I was younger. I remember sitting outside and listening to them all sing the song "Hallelujah". I also *vividly* remember this guy being dropped off at the hotel SUPER drunk and he started sobbing bc he thought he died, crying out things like "how can I be in heaven? I wasn't a good person!" as his friend helped him hobble over to his room. What a night that was. Wonder how he's doing now.
I got the opportunity to live in Singapore for a year as an American. Your country is beautiful and your people are so kind! Love from the US to Singapore ❤️
@@whdstudios1054 thats not what I mean. I am currently serving so i'd think I'd know what the Star Spangled Banner is. What i'm saying is that somebody sings the Star Spangled Banner to open up the Superbowl game, and that these students did such a great job that I think they should sing it at the next game.
As an American growing up in Germany during the cold war I ( fck Im tearing up now) I learned our flag meant sanctuary, safety and home. I cry everytime out national anthem is played . 🇺🇸
I BROKE INTO TEARS. This is UNBELIEVABLY POWERFUL and MOVING. Such a MASTERFUL cover. Every moment of American history, every sacrifice, every adversity, every horrific tragedy, every war, every presidential assassination, all of our nations struggles….can be FELT in this cover….this is truly a hymn of American resolve. The anthem of resilience. Ode to hope, and our unwavering commitment to liberty. Which means even more to me given I’m a black American…knowing the painstaking battle it took for us to experience equality. But it happened. It happened…. Long live this American experiment. 🇺🇸 Whitney Houston was my favorite cover….but this…has taken it. 🙌🏽🏆
Hailey, I am so glad you got the opportunity to sing in this choir! I loved my music festival experiences and you will never forget this! This was just a small part of the experience and I am so glad we all can enjoy this with you! Well done!
All the hate, all the separation, all the fighting, the political differences... none of it mattered to a single person here in this video. I wish I could’ve been there
I'm a 74 year old combat veteran, and am so very proud that we still have wonderful young people like these in our country. God bless them all. This is what we fought for, so they could do this. Brings tears to my old eyes. Wish I could have been there. Better than any concert.
I am not an American, I am an Indonesian. This is a jaw dropping performance. It is so beautiful, absolutely amazing. Love the soprano part, especially the highest note. I don’t know how to say this, but you brought me to the church...heavenly voice.
2:34 Soprano 2s: *normal E flat* Soprano 1s: "Let's go up to the A flat" A few soprano 1s: "Okay, I see your A flat and raise you a high C" One Very Ballsy Girl (TM): "Hold my beer while I just casually scream this octave E flat" 😍 Edit: how tf does this have 6500 likes? 😂😂😂
"...for the land of the free..."...5th to the tonic to the major 3rd, to the octave 5th....whoa, hair on the arms stood straight up! And I am not a vocal musician (woodwind, but I can sing, too!)
I know that other countries just play their national anthem when the national team is playing or at the start or end of a broadcasting day unlike the US, but it says a lot when we sing it just because. The US has an anthem to be proud of, it sets the point across of what led to us being here, and its willpower. I got to visit the place where the anthem was written at Fort McHenry in Baltimore when I was a kid. We made it in time for a flag changing ceremony, and me being the last in line, I was given the folded flag and had the opportunity to walk it over from one park ranger to another. A moment I'll never forget. I also got to sing the anthem at an Islanders game as part of a middle school chorus. Was I nervous? A little. Is the anthem famously difficult to perfect? Yes. But it isn't about that, it's about unity. Sing it with your heart, and unleash that spirit.
This is a tradition going all the way back to 1958 for the All-State Choirs of Kentucky. Each year the best Choral students in the State audition and are chosen. They gather in Louisville Ky every February for a performance at the Kentucky International Convention Center. All the participants stay at the Hyatt Regency downtown which was built in 1978. The tradition is to come out and stand outside your rooms and sing the National Anthem each night of the convention. I was blessed to have participated in this all 4 years in High School back in the 90's. It is truly amazing and the people who work and are visiting in the hotel stop and stand still to listen. I'm so thrilled to see the tradition is living on!!!
I'm 65, as a kid I lived exactly a mile as the crow flies from our local baseball stadium, I remember many times standing on the roof of my tree-house with my hand on my heart while they played the anthem, then came the inevitable "PLAY BALL!". Every time I hear it now, it brings back some sweet memories, thanks!
As much as we appreciate the sentiment, it would actually be diesrespectful to salute, unless you're a veteran, or active military in the US you don't salute.
@Jackson nope…I just put them in the proper context. Before the American Revolution, nothing resembling a republic existed in the West since the Roman Republic. Nothing in the Americas or Asia has ever resembled it.
You folks in Kentucky should be popping your buttons over your talented kids! I have seen versions of this anthem performance from several years, and it is always tear-inducing, jaw dropping beautiful. Thanks to whoever has been posting these vides and sharing this magnificent tradition with those of us who have not been fortunate enough to experience this in person. I hope you can hear me applauding all the way from MA.!
@@marziar.7492 Why can’t you move somewhere? Is it family or Italian law? Here in the U.S. and I think Canada as well so long as you have a passport you can go pretty much anywhere.
I really wish that our America was like this again. The world has been separated and we need to re-unite and show that this is our country and we are proud of it. Covid or not, we need to be together, forever, here for each other, forever... because this is our country.
Its cool tho @Conspiracy Flyer . I also agree that youtube's comment sections have become saturated with memes but this one is pretty wholesome if you think about it
That rafter soprano at 2:38...... hitting the sky high note clear as a bell (three steps up if you listen closely)....... but yet not overpowering....... wow
I am an AMERICAN.. this song brings me to tears, but this time it breaks my heart and brings the tears. I am old now, and once when I was as young as these singers I too would sing this song with deep, soul-wrenching pride. I still have the pride but my heart is broken and I can no longer sing due to illness. I think of my ancestors here since the country was formed. I think of all of the veterans who fought and died to preserve that freedom and I now long for that pride and freedom that is my birthright and I mourn for those days. We followed the Constitution & Bill of Rights. We said allegiance to the flag every morning in school. We were taught all of our rights and true US history in school and were tested on it, and I grew up when citizenship was treasured and essential if you were to live here. To hear their angelic voices in this video reminds me of just WHO we are and WHY we fought for our freedom, I miss my country, but will forever stand with my hand over my heart for a reason...Freedom IS NOT FREE
I'm not from the USA but to be brutally honest, this is the best national anthem of all the national anthems in the whole wide world! Goosebumps every time you hear it!
I like how it ends with the question, "Oh say, does that star spangled banner yet wave, o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?" To me, it's a reminder of how precious and fragile our liberty is, a reminder of all that's been done to get it, and how we can never take it for granted.
The national anthem was originally made as a reminder of the many people who came together to win Americas freedom. This is how it should be performed at major events, not one ridiculously famous person using it to shove down our throats how great they are, but a choir showing that many people working together can make angelic sound.
@@mellyonthebeat you don't care so much that you couldn't help but come here and comment to try and make everyone feel as miserable as you do 😂you people make me laugh.
True, one person doesn't represent many. When sang by a choir, it represents strength. In harmony, it gives more feelings. A lot of songs are meant to be performed in that manner.
@@morao4193 The constitution is right. That is the right. Anything other than it is wrong.
