I've been referred to go there from my doctor from Saint James hospital I live in Leeds so it's a fair way to go for a operation for cancer something to do with a flush will I be ok in fact I received a phone call today this morning from Basingstoke hospital

Lovely to see this! I did my registered nurse training here between 1987 and 1989, met some very special people. Good hospital, awesome memories, developed my compassion and practical thinking!
Of course the aim is give good service, so good luck with delivering it. We work in community services and still find that integration is aimed at those people that are publicly funded (i.e. likely to have contributed the least) while those paying for their own home care are not on the radar in the same way. The hospitals need to find a solution (working with the CCG's) to have more out-of-hours services that stop A&E being blocked with minor cases. Maybe more refusal of people with self inflicted problems such as alcohol abuse or some kind of charging for wasting NHS resources could be brought in - I know it takes front line staff have to make judgements to do this but radical new ways are needed to make sure the services are there for those that need it for good reason. When are we going to see more prevention services?
