Hey Cully and welcome! Introducing Mod and Tara… We are the only official UK Nomads (that we know of or have found so far), backpacking, on foot, 24/7 tent dwelling all year round.
My wife, dog and I have been doing this together for many years now, whilst living out of our backpacks. We have no van, camper, hut or otherwise... just the tent (home). we've had good times, bad and everything between.
Living off the land where we can, working for cash, luxuries, trade or barter.. We invite you to tag along during our journeys, exploration, foraging, coping with adversities, hints, tips and skills.
@Deborah_AG Cully is an endearing term we use for our subscribers... it is of Irish and Gaelic origin, and the meaning of Cully is "the woods" or as a name it means great chief or hey 👋🏽 or in a female sense, it's means Dove 🕊. So just our little touch on a more heart felt greeting. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
Hi guys just discovered your channel, I work outdoors all year 🇬🇧 and keep warm by moving all the time + ski trousers are a must on those few but mega cold days, how do you keep warm enough at night when it goes down to -10?❤
I've just discovered this channel, love It! I will be following along. You both seem so happy, it's really nice to see people living the way they want to live 😊
@fireandforge Hey Cully, and thanks for your comment. Have a look at the 'forest launderette' video, and what's in our pack bag reveal video also. Typically we have 2 changes, and have known people who live in houses be far dirtier than us living in the woods lol. If we can't rely on friends for showers or such, we'll use streams and other with environmental friendly soup, wet moss, baby wipes and so on etc. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼👍🏼
@@loghoppers very true. The trappings of civilization do not equate to hygiene. Having lived out of a rucksack for many years myself I know that good hygiene is a must and also a matter of strict self discipline. It's too easy to get lazy when it's not comfortable. And many do not know that dirty clothes do not last long. The trapped dirt acts as an abrasive that destroys the fibers and that's why clothes literally fall apart. Keep being you. When it all crumbles you guys will be the ones on top
@fireandforge too true. Yeah, the acids in the soil can contribute to fiber break down whilst interacting with alkaline and pushing that PH up, and loosening weaves. Thanks for commenting and continued support. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
Do check out some of our other videos on the channel and we're sure your questions will be answered. If not, there is a video of ours called (how we make money) or (making money, saving money) Thanks for your comment and HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼👍🏼
@williamjones8295 have a look at our long stay video Cully, it says what it is there. But yes, it's awesome all year round, very versatile and longlasting too. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
Love you two good luck to you both I am 60 years old being living in my van for 10 years now just love the peace freedom it give me love your videos be safe cheers blessings peace love ☮️ Have a blessed day Dave full time van lifer somewhere in Uk blessings ☮️☮️☮️
Hi guys great winter kit video and am looking forward to seeing how you get through winter with the gear you using, just one question though about your packs, why did you choose them in particular and where you purchase them from thx?
@Nofixedabode859 good question Cully, I am ex forces 2003 and after I left, I went about my way to get off the grid ASAP, kids and life happened... slowed me down, however... life changes. I picked up my old issue 110ltr pack and started to make a journey of my own... I met Tara on the road and she had (and still has) the blackhawk (look at our long stay video). She convinced my military mind that I should get the same, I refused for too long, I need everything I have in my 110lts... safe to say, women (especially nomadic ones) have a way of making everything work, no matter how simple or lack of something may be.i bought a genuine one from ebay for £320, and WOW, never looked back. And they say its a 3 day sack. Stick around, HAPPY HOPPING. 👌🏼👍🏼
@@loghoppers yeah my sons are forces and I’ve acquired 2 short back Bergen’s and you just put too much kit in it, I’m all about minimal kit now and tried a lot of packs and liking those black hawks and they look like they hold loads considering the litreage 👍
I was really disappointed you didn’t reply to my comment. I’m not rich and hubby hasn’t been able to work because of an operation that went wrong. Never mind Good luck with your ventures
I've got a couple pairs of those heat holders socks, cannot rate them highly enough! Although they are quite fond of taking half the forest floor tangled in them 😅 How are the surplus arctic socks in comparison?
@_NickB_ they don't collect as much litter, but on a fairer note... I don't tent to walk about in my socks without boots, but also those artic socks in particular, I only wear for bed. Mod however wears his day in and out 🤮, but he swears by them and they're only £10 a pair, but because New Milton army surplus is absolutely awesome, he did us an all in deal which in turn reduced our socks to half the going price. Very hard to get hold of tho, as army surplus are disappearing. Will leave the website for him in the description when got a moment. Thanks for commenting and your support, HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
@_NickB_ also.... here he is, I'm sure he'll be happy to send uk 🇬🇧 only, if you were to contact and enquire. I'm he's awesome! Image Action - army surplus link below. g.co/kgs/yT7cRVy
I will be living in my tent from March next year. Can you let me know what cons if any from having a dog?, i would love to have a dog with me but wonder if it could cause issues when finding areas to camp in and staying stealthy. Thank you.
@Mark-dj4zr Dog is very well trained and was an intensive 13weeks training period that we conducted to make him tent stealth and a 2 person pooch. If you are going invest in a pooch, make sure its of an intelligent breed. However... you've sparked inspiration for us to put a video together regarding this very topic. Please stick around and you'll see your idea unfold. Thanks for your comment and support, HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼👍🏼
So many people are obsessed with stuff, materialism is the norm sadly. You 2 have the right idea. Everything I need fits in a bag also - ready for when the zombies are under total mind control - it's only partial atm 😂
@Lonewolf__666 humans used to wear long Johns before central heating and double glazing, 'we've' forgotten how to conquer the cold from simple layering techniques. People can be more concerned with fashion than practicality and comfort. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
@keygamerdandysworld-p5l awesome Cully, that's fantastic to have the support. Will no doubt be heading that sort of way in due course. Thank you for your comment and support. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
Great,i didnt know this use of conkers, nice one. So conkers are for cleaning, sweet chestnuts for eating. The washing line at the end was a touch of class, your clothes will be beautifully wood fresh.
Thanks for the update,i was wondering what was happening with the Darwall debacle. Here's hoping the Supreme court puts him in his place. Subscribed for more. Best wishes.
Was going to say it's our heritage, gets me angry mate, thay want use all like lemmings to follow without questions, no more great in great Britain mate
@professorweeto clients will always have their own tools so we don't have to supply those, and allows us to keep our price so low. As of materials... the client supplies all, or even added guidance from us as to what to buy for said job. Turns out... it's still cheaper than contractors. We are very open with our clients of how we live and what's what, so they don't expect us to be carrying tools from one place to another. We turned up to a painting job once and they had no brushes... (hand painting anyone?🤣) lol. Thanks for your comment and HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼👍🏼
You guys are amazing.... and way too cheap! You should have been paid minimum £100 for your effort. I would have happily paid you £150... Build my garden fence please...
@Jonebee7771 think it's Edward now, didn't know the DofE died when the Duke did? Guess that's how they get us all. Living in the woods... we can sometimes miss people (the royals passing) guess that's how important we hold that view lol. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
I love your videos, and I am also currently living in a Lanshan 2. I will like all your videos, but let me know what else would help your channel. Much love. Alex
@alexturner7456 wicked Cully, are you a Nomad too or other? We're on the lookout for other Nomads, but cool if other. Thank you for lovely comment and continued support. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
@loghoppers I decided to stop paying rent, sold 90% of my belongings, and started walking from Kent to Land's End, and then ultimately, I'm heading to John O'Groats. I'm currently just south of the Lake District, and it's only taken me 15 months.🤣 I didn't start out planning to be a nomad, but I really can't see me doing anything else now, and I'm just trying to figure out how to make it sustainable full time. I will continue to watch your videos as you obviously know what you're doing, and who knows? I might see you when i walk back.🤣
