I would love to see this in action instead of just having it explained. It would make for a more interesting and educational video. Thanks for what you do, love the channel
Most throwbag ropes have a polypropylene outter sheath this is what makes the rope float. One of the downsides of polypropylene is that it has a really low melting point. Once friction is applied to the outter sheath the heat will start to decay
Lol start out with a 16 footer??? How about a 14 footer, 2 strong paddlers can r2, 1 person can row, or you can take a 6 person crew.. took a 14 down the Grand Canyon with 3 people’s gear… most user friendly
On a Deso-Grey trip, we had an 18-foot gear boat get sucked under water against a cliff/wall on an outside corner of a river bend. There was about 18" of the bow sticking out above the water and we had no way to get near the boat because of the wall. Everything else was submerged. Eventually, we shot at it from waayyy across the river about 15 times with a 9mm pistol. About 30 minutes later, it peeled off and began to float downstream. We patched bullet holes that night and floated to the takeout the next morning. Good times!
Will you please do a walk through of a sweep boat. I’m interested in what the frame looks like, how many dry boxes, how the sweep connects to the frame, ect.
Great to see that new models are being released to help keep elderly boaters on the water. Given age demographics in America this could lead to tremendous growth in the sport! Who knows, maybe The Villages, Florida will put in a whitewater park!
New boater, old therapist -- yup, once everyone's at the put in, the odds of convincing someone to go home without boating are real low. Therefore, when planning the trip, be annoyingly thorough about discussing experience, skill level, safety expectations. Convincing someone that this isn't the trip for them at the planning stage is a MUCH easier endeavor. Of course sometimes you don't have control of the planning conversations.
Looks like a lot of work. But at least you didn’t have to fly in! The airstrip to the water at Indian Creek ain’t no joke for a sweep boat! HAPPY BOAT’N
Wow! What a mess. That other Sweep boat looked close to flipping. What Nightmares are made of! Great share! Thanks for the video. Happy and safe Boat’N 🤘 NOW GO SET UP CAMP!
Zach, Thanks for having someone from my generation doing the review. I've often thought about getting a kayak, but thought I maybe too old. Great to see people my age out enjoying the whitewater.
