You are so right. The used lens market has some absolutely wonderful bargains. In 2024 we see a growing trend of the photography community embracing vintage and early digital era lenses. The Canon 100mm macro is one that deserves recognition. Others IMHO include the 85mm f1.8 (which I don’t own) and the original 70-200mm IS f2.8L which both have beautiful bokeh. There are some minor IQ compromises but today we like to call that ‘character’! 😉
Dude!! I’ve been looking for this review. I recently ordered this lens for my canon rebel t6. Can’t wait to get it, especially after this review. I got mine for $168. “Mint” we will see upon arrival.
I had this lens and now have the L-version... both optically equal, but IS makes this focal length more versatile e.g for portrait or shoooting in mineralogy museum
Been shooting Canon all my life and amassed a large lens collection. Recently bought a X-T30II for my travels and wanted to use my Canon lenses on this baby. Perfect video.
You will be perfectly alright, all Canon Lenses work, just have to give some time to get used to it. Also thanks for the comment, for a small tiny channel , it means a lot.
This , this is a lot sharper . The 35mm f1.2 at 1.2 is only useful if you want a really unusable blurry background. This on the other hand is a biotar design copy . Which is great .
May be he has a defect . This goes down to f1.8 , may be he was talking about crop sensor equivalence. Which means the amount of light this Lens takes in is f2.8 if the camera was a full frame .
When I discovered mouse steering in GTA V, I jumped in and enabled that option immediately, just a bit of tweaking to the sensitivity and you'll have no problems, it just takes a little time to get used to. The only drawback to mouse steering is that motorcycles they always make a full turn and it's almost impossible to control. It could be bugged or something because no amount of sensitivity tweaking would make it work.
Hola... Tengo un ND Variable Tiffen y creo que está como empañado por dentro. Si lo desarmo así, como lo limpio? Cómo cualquier otro cristal de filtro o requiere algún cuidado especial?? Gracias 🙋🏻♂️
Genuinely wasn’t looking at this lens for a while, I knew it from specs, but have been hunting vintage glass. This looks lovely. I’m curious how it would operate as a taking lens for anamorphic work.
Can report back that it is lovely as a taking lens. Images look very similar to my vintage FD canon lenses, but it’s literally half the size since I don’t need the adapter and it is tightly produced. The many aperture blades make it very smooth for oval bokeh on an anamorphic scope, even stopped down. When using a vintage lens with less blades, you get hexagonal bokeh, but with this, it looks much smoother. The coating looks very similar to my vintage primes, and when I take off the scope it looks just like a tiny point and shoot street photography camera, and even with the scope, it is about as long as the native kit zoom lens. So all in all, it’s a great little lens. Big upgrade.
The problem with keyboard over controller, is that the Acceleration is always at 100% flooring it. On controller, the trigger has sensitivity so you can slightly press the gas pedal instead of always flooring it. I keep the controller connected in my lap when I play GTA, so when i drive i just pick up the controller.
I use it with 80d since 1 year. Thank you for the video. The lens look hyper good with the little camera . What is the name of that camera , if i may ask ?
Awesome! I have this one! Love it! I just picked up a used RF 100mm 2.8 for $800 in great working condition! Looks like new! The only reason I upgraded is for the 1.4x and the 5 stops of IS built in, combined with the R6 it’s amazing! BUT!! This 100mm macro non IS is amazing too! 😃🤙🏽😊
Thanks for the detailed video with examples. Just re-entering photography after purchasing an A6100 for a trip recently and my brother suggested picking this up - think I'm going to grab an E Mount model. This seems like a killer entry option for portraits and bokeh experimentation. Didn't even think of the cool applications for manual focus on shooting subjects on video with interesting depth like tree branches as you showed.
Mine have a reverse aperture, like when the number is on 2, the blades hole is the smallest, and when goes to 16, the hole is the biggest, like 2=16, and 16=2. Is it same with your model? I'm afraid that's a fake helios
There was not really any point to make a copycat version of a lens which was the most mass produced and cheapest in history, being itself a copycat of another lens. I've heard about the same thing somewhere else, either someone was cleaning it and reassembled the wrong way or it was wrongly assembled already straight from the factory
I have a g7x mark II and as you said it is a great camera. However I was thinking to upgrade with a x-s10. I am very far to be an expert but I was thinking a better camera could do even better pictures of my family and child. I was wondering if there is a big difference in picture quality between x-s10 and g7x II. I am interesting in x-s10 for the stabilization. Do you think it will worth the expense? Thank so much sir
I also have a XS-10 review on my channel. Its a great capable camera. But a bit bulky with lenses and everything. If you want to upgrade and still have something small and capable with all the features of the big one, may I suggest an XE-4 with a 35mm f1.4 . Your family pictures will look vintage. Also have a review of that, take a look.
@@SuperSlackOff thanks for the feedback my only concern is that Ibis is not in the xe4, i feel it is a big plus the isbs. Is the x-s10 too big with the 35mm?
Hi,,good video, i choosing buy a camera for street and some portraits,,, i am between fuji xpro3 or 2,,, fuji XE4 or panasonic gx9? wich you consider to have the best image quality and material buits? Thanks!
