APEA does not have a review course for the CNS role specifically, but the content in the adult-gerontology primary care NP review course or the adult-gerontology acute care NP review course (depending on your role) would serve you well. Really need to have more questions that are predictor based for those who need to pass the predictor to graduate. The question bank q doesn’t match the predictor questions at all.

Sonia, I know the pain you’re going through. First time I took the AANP, exam, I failed by one point. I graduated in 2013 and have yet to be licensed. Sooo disheartening. After having to resign after 21 years as a fireman to take care of my three year old boy whom is battling brain cancer, it would sure help this family financially and my self esteem if I’m able to practice
So I bought the certification question book. It comes with 3 FNP exams , are those the same as the predictor exam or should I still pay for a predictor exam?

Hello and thanks for your question. The questions in the question book are NOT the same as questions on the APEA Predictor Exam. The study questions build knowledge and critical thinking. The Predictor Exam simulates the certification exam and determines your likelihood of being successful on the certification exam. It also provides a detailed score report that identifies any areas of weakness, including which specific diagnoses need more study. We have a video about Predictor Exams on our channel. My university said board certification is not currently required in California and I can not find anything saying it is. Can you include a reference, please?
Hi Stacie, you will need to check that with the California Board of Nursing. They and the state's legislature would be the ones to make that determination.
Hey Stacie. California does not require board certification to practice as an NP however most employers require it for employment. As you look into jobs you’re interested in, see if they require board certification.

That's correct, the Predictor Exam does not show rationales because it replicates the features of the certification exam, which also doesn't show rationales. We hope that you've looked closely at your detailed score report. This report identifies the areas in which you need improvement, drilling down to the specific subject area and diagnosis. To sit for board certification in acute care, you would need to review the requirements for that specialty (acute care adult gerontology or acute care pediatric). The AACN and ANCC offers certification for adult-gero acute care and the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board offers certification for pediatric acute care.
The Q- regarding the two choices form CAP for PCN allergy, PCN was not even in the list for Rx- If the Rx is with Macrolide and Doxy why does the PCN allergy matter? please help.
Hi! I know this is a late reply, but the reason they were talking about a penicillin allergy is due to the newer guidelines that state amoxicillin can be used to treat CAP. Of course, if you are allergic to PCN, you can’t take amoxicillin either. Hope this helps.

One year ago I purchased one predictor exam and two sets of practice exams and I'm almost done. I'm planning to take the AANP exam again this new year 2021.
