I like the box over all. I would rather have something else than the rotary cutter holder. I am planning on using the ric rac on the binding like a flange binding.
I waited until I received my box before watching. This is a excellent selection. I'm thinking of putting the ric rack on with the binding. Can't wait to see your finished project.
Haven’t gotten my box yet…says it’ll be here tomorrow. I ordered the finishing kit as well. I’ll definitely make the pattern and put the Ric Rac on my shelf with the others I’ve collected from Lori Holt…I’ll definitely avoid that 60 degree ruler like the plague! My brain just doesn’t get that darn thing. 😜 I love the patterns it can make but for me to cut in the right direction…nope doesn’t happen. 🤷🏼♀️😝 I think it’s a great box…Kimberly very seldom disappoints on any specialty box. I hope you do a quick tutorial on the wall hanging. I always enjoy your little tips and tricks. Have a terrific week Miss Kate.
Loved the pattern and fabric. I love blue and orange for fall. I had many or similar of the other items. But I'm very happy with this great box. Thanks for sharing ❤
Great job, block looks great! Yes I believe I will use the method you used for the center block. It’s great to hear you are feeling better. I had pneumonia this year as well but over the spring months. Be careful since your system is vulnerable right now, takes a bit for your system to recover from pneumonia, but praises that you are feeling better.
My fav was the Creative Grids ruler since I didn't have that particular size. I have a huge metal hot ruler that I've used for many many years. Have multiples of the thread color which is fine, I'll use it. I actually wasn't crazy for the Figo fabric. To me it's odd to get this colorway now when it would have been more appropriate for no later than August. I was looking forward to some Fall/Winter fabrics for upcoming projects. In order to make anything decent sized you need a layer cake or two Jolly rolls, maybe a jelly roll and two charm packs. So, I was disappointed this month compared to the past several boxes. I know the boxes have to be planned out months in advance but it seems like this was an after thought of content that was for other boxes, if that makes sense. I just got the feeling that these items or at least the fabric and patterns were meant for an earlier month. Okay, how's this - if I went to her store and saw this box for sale, I wouldn't buy it and that's how I look at all the subscription boxes. For me to cancel though it takes 3 bad (to me) boxes. This is the first one this year that I haven't liked. And, I pre-ordered the Spooky Box! I've loved everyone of the specialty boxes.
My favorite would be the fabric. I had to pass to make space for some other collections but it really caught my eye. I also make bags and pouches so excited to see what you’ll be making.
Thank you for sharing, you look very pretty today. The box is nice, already have the ruler but it’s ok, I will still use it. The fabric is nice. I agree, prices have really increased but I imagine it’s due to shipping charge increases.
That is cool basket! Where did you get it? Ahhhh, Jack loves you Kate! Lol - I love a bear paw block, the entire block is lovely. I didn't do this kit because of all the applique but I sure like the picture. Raw edge is the only applique technique I use cause I love that looks especially after it's washed and I can see all those rough edges. Crap Kate! Now I want this kit! I love this block.
Hi Gina, I got the basket from TJmax. They came in a set of two. I am sure you can find them elsewhere online if you don’t have a TJmax near you. And YES I think you should sew along with me. Use your stash, The Kit is nice to have because you don’t have to think. All the fabrics are there for you. It’s not late to start, we are on month 2 out of the 12 months.
Kate! Lovely to see your smiling face ;-) Wonder if allergies are playing havoc with your respiratory? I have to be really careful because I only have one working lung and the pollen, allergy stuff really throws my body for a loop. WOW! Terrific tips - I haven't done blocks this way and I much prefer the way you do it. It is a lot of pieces for the center but Kate - it's so beautiful! I love the block.
I think Texas has Allergies that have not yet been named. They did all the work up and come back with it. Be careful, the ER staff said it’s been going around and it’s barely fall season.
Thank you for showing your way. I love your block. I heard several people have had this “yuck” that is going around. Hopefully you stay healthy during the rest of the Autumn season.
Thank you for being honest! That is very refreshing! It is beautiful! You are learning and that is what is most important. You will get better as you go along. Thank you for your truth! I have not done this because I was very intimidated. I will give it a shot now.
I signed up for this quilt, too. I decided to just use my stash for this one. However, I haven't started on mine yet. I'm so glad you're doing it, too. I love watching videos with our before I sew mine. On a side note, I'm weird. I like applique, cutting fabric, and binding. All my favorite parts of quilting..lol
I do the same exact thing Kate, with fabric. I cut into the kit as a last resort. You just tickle me. I laugh out loud. Not At you, but with you. I despise Applique too... Keep on being you girl. I look forward to your next video.
Hi Kate. Hearing that you don’t like binding kind of makes me want to see your process 😅 I still don’t hand bind and have my mom do it since she likes hand sewing and I machine sew for her.
Beautiful quilt! Love the pin cushion decal on the back of your sewing machine. I collect pin cushions, can I ask where you got it? Love the polka dots for binding.
This was a pretty good box. I am waiting for Fancy That’s Things Above line for the panels. And yes to appliqué. I did one project and it was not so bad.
@katescraftingnest lol 😆 did you do it by hand I actually found this really small tiny iron looks like specula it really helped that and fusible I can't wait too see your finishes
Tempting to get the Big Woods pattern - but I have too many projects going already. Would love to see your journey. I like applique but I do not do it often.
Really like your presentation style. Such cute quilts. I have that book too but like you said, I have a hard time visualizing them in prints not solids. Thanks for your inspiration!
Thanks for sharing the sew sampler box. I haven’t checked my mailbox yet but am looking forward to opening mine. I’m not a fan of circles but am willing to give this pattern a try. The fabrics look beautiful and as you said, rich in color. I did not get the Tula quilt kit that you shared but am anxious to see your progress. I do have another of her kits coming as a monthly sew along. I too was hesitant to do appliqué but have completed an appliqué quilt and am preparing to do another. Great share, as usual!
Looking forward to watching your appliqué journey. 😉 I too have all the tools and I’ve got a pretty good handle on it…but for me, it’s very time consuming…I love the look that appliqué offers to a quilt but my patience level definitely could use a little increase. 😝 have a wonderful weekend Miss Kate…thanks for taking the time to show us the Sew Sampler box this month. 🤗🤗
I really liked this block. Finally got all my background / finishing pieces starched and ironed. Ready to add the house parts to stay up to date. So far I’ve really enjoyed this BOM. Thanks for sharing your tips and encouragement Miss Kate. Have a terrific week.
Beautiful! Made block 2 yesterday. I like that you made the first sets of the roof blocks and then 6. Great idea! I’m going to make the 3 roofs and flowers per row. That way by the time the 6, 9 and twelfth blocks come the row is ready to assemble. Love your tips thank you so much. ~Martha
