I'm a firearms enthusiast and shoot for fun, training, practice and defense. I believe we can always continue learning by putting skills, tactics, lessons and pains in our Tool Box to access if and should we need them. My channel is a hobby and I don't have expensive camera equipment, just a simple iPhone and a cheap spotting scope tripod with a salvaged camera holder. All 'sporting' equipment is either mine or borrowed.
Thank you, brother for always watching. I'm still learning the fine tuning of reloading. There is soooo much out there and different ways for each shooter on how they tailor their reloads for their specific form of shooting.
Thank you, sir. I'm not a sound technician and I have zero experience with audio equipment. Also, I got it for about $23 😆 Thanks for possibly hearing the difference in the wind.
@@novicereloader Nice...it is pretty much simple "plug--n-play" with initial charging of course. Hope to see some videos from you again. One of the places I started learning more and more about reloading was while in Iraq in 2011-2014 (PMC) watching your videos on reloading.
@andyprairiedog you and Fortunecookie helped me get started. Broke Reloader, Dummy Round, and Booze And Bullets all helped. JRB was probably the biggest source of knowledge for me.
Hey Andy! Jay from Bottom Line Tactical here. Was wondering if you like to do shooting drills, specifically AR Platform drills. If so we have a new challenge for you to try.
There are no inserts in the rings. Straight up 34mm rings. Also, no cant has been incorporated into the rings. However, my base mount that is on the rifle does have a 20-moa cant for the added elevation travel.
@@andyprairiedog Ah ok. My mistake. I thought they were the Burris Signatures with the inserts that add/subtract inclination. Love those Burris XTRs with the huge tube too, by the way 👍🏻
I believe you, sir. I also use 240 grain MagTech ammo but shot 50 rounds in a span of about a month. Yup, the grip is where it would bug me the most. Seems a little thin in that area. I been thinking of buying a wider grip for it to what I'm thinking will distribute the recoil. Just a guess at reducing felt recoil. I'll bet though, that 4 inch barrel would kick more.
@@andyprairiedog well the M44 models are considered the “work horses” of Taurus. The “you can’t break these no matter how hard you try”. Which is why i got mine. I actually traded another gun in for it. Brand new its was around $555. Which is great. But it was technically free in a way lol. I took it home and in a 15 minute span ran 240 grain ammo. Was really trying to sight it in. The flick is pretty big. Rises but stops in the 12 o’clock position. The only thing is, when your palms get sweaty, the grip can kinda suck. It is thin rather but its a heck of a lot better than that weird taurus tracker grip with all the cuts in it. I put a glove on and never had another issue. It being kinda a hunting style revolver i think it was meant to be shot with a glove on. I love the 4 inch though. At least i can’t stick it in my waist band if i needed to
@@andyprairiedog hey man that's why we practice! I had a weird situation this morning! Someone made a rode block and had a car waiting on the other side with the door open. I got around and was going to go back with my gun ready but something told me to just call the police so that's what I did. Wasn't feeling a gun fight at 330am lol
I got it from "ISC" (Internal Scope Cap). I have the V1, there has been a V2 since. An Army buddy of mine owns Lirces3. Here is the link to Optics Planet. www.opticsplanet.com/lirces3-internal-scope-cap-v2.html
😆 Yeah it could. Place my air mattress in there too. Already got the stuff blanket and Ryobi air tool to air up the mattress. Ideas from all over...thanks.
That would be great to do if it was the first time being done. Got plenty of ideas from various videos and they have their way of doing their set ups. Excellent idea though. Thanks for watching, brother.
Thank you very much. It's more like public "grazing land". Wish it did belong to me. There are parts of this area where it is not so pleasant with illegal trash pits, dump piles and such. I have tried to clean up a public rifle range but people keep bringing their fridges, Styrofoam, cardboard boxes, TVs, microwaves out to shoot and just leave there. Great land, some people just mess it up for the rest of us.
It is the Timney Calvin Elite Flat trigger for the R700. It also comes with a curved trigger, your choice. Dropped right in, adjusted it to my liking and it has been EXCELLENT.
@@andyprairiedog love it i cant remember the model of my timney as i installed it in 2013. but your video showed me it might actually work with the slant on the back of the guard. this is exciting considering every other bottom metal for box mags is significantly more expensive. Good video and great response time!! keep shooting and ill keep tuning in. edit, ill report when mine comes in and maybe ill find the numbers on the trigger for your other viewers.
@@andyprairiedog Mine came in today and it took a lot of finesse to get it to fit into my bell and carlson stock. however it feeds perfectly, i may do a little more tweaking to get the mags to free fall but over all im super happy!
@@sidewinder3316 Same deal with my magazine not fitting too well. The AICS magazine is the only one I have so I figured I can dremel the top-front area little by little until I like the fitment with almost no wobble. Rigged to my liking pretty much and I understand that when I get a second magazine, I more than likely will have to dremel it the same way. This rifle I use for "plinking" and I don't need it to do very fast magazine changes...a range rifle is my understanding. My carry and AR carbine, those of course are a different story, they have to perform accordingly.
@@andyprairiedog basically the more material i remove from the front the more properly my bolts aligned and the better the mags felt going in and out. I dont want to alter the actual magpul bottom metal where the mag touches the well so its consistent to factory, i think modifying mags carefully like you said is an option. I'm still debating a little more fitment modification. i did have to remove the little fins on the front and back of the magpul well. thanks for staying engaged ill post again if i have any improvements.
Very Nice. I have been wanting a 44 mag for years myself. I have bought the dies and brass and other things to reload 44 M/Sp. It will be my first revolver as well. I love how they can be shot with 44 Special as well and by reloading you can make ammo from very soft 44 special loads to full house 44 mag and everything in between. Its truly one of the largest ranges of ammo, in power, that you can have in 1 firearm. This is the exact pistol I have been considering. I read that Smith & Wesson once owned Taurus many years ago. I think that is why their revolvers are so close to a S&W's. Congrats Brother, I hope it provides you with many years of fun and practice.
I'm on the opposite of your preparing to reload. I have the components but no dies or gauges to reload it. I also plan to use lower power loadings in 44 Special for my son if he wants to shoot it.
I sure do agree with you, sir. You are not wrong on that. 4x would not be my first choice for precision. I would think someone out there can do a lot better than me with 4x. Thank you for watching 👍
Next time optics planet sends you the wrong the part just ask em if u can keep it....the are kinda stupid and will let you keep the item and still send you the right part randomly a month later
I will keep that in mind. Thank you for the information. I think that will be the last transaction I will make with them. They have done it years ago as well and decided to try them again thinking it was just a fluke but it happened again. Their "In Stock" information is also misleading to where I was waiting for months for an item that was in stock but their response was it was not in stock. Thanks again for watching.
I have found that this bullet , 3031, is not very uniform. Distance from the ojive to the tip varies considerably making it difficult to get consistent COAL. Anyone else notice this ?
Yeah, I have found that to be the same conclusion I have come across after measuring several dozen bullets just to be sure. I figured it to be of that characteristic for particular hunting practices. There is the Barnes TSX and Sierra Game King and there is the Soft-Point-Will-Do Circle.
Eric c. And his buddies are using guns that that are meticulously manufactured. They likely cost ten times what our rems and wins and whatever else we have. Ours are more or less mass produced. Their barrels have chambers that are precisely machined. I myself don't resize at all until the brass quits chambering smoothly. Yes I sit with my rifle in my lap and chamber empty brass. I also use a hornady chamber gauge to check length. I use a lee collet style neck sizing die for the necks. I spend a lot of time on brass. I watch and like the videos and information Eric c. Provides but he's in a whole other world than I am.
WOW! That is the great thing about reloading and hearing about others' adventure on how they reload their own ammunition to suit their needs and expectations. Thank you for your insight and another different way I have now heard of. E.C. sure does have excellent videos and information. I could only dream of owning a rifle like theirs. The way their bolt closes like glass...nice.
Very nice revolver. You plan on using it for hunting or range work. Mine, I'm using it mainly for range fun and had always wanted this very revolver since probably the early or mid 2000s.
@@jeremyschwarz3718 No problem. I went shooting my .308 rifle with 175gr SMK bullets sitting on some S.W. Match Rifle a few hours ago in some 80-degree weather. It may be temperature sensitive I think because it was registering 2,720fps instead of the usual 2,620fps. Accuracy also suffered. I'm currently researching how much of a temp sensitive it is. Be safe on your loadings.
Thank you, sir. I would like to bring the CRF out there and just ride around in the open without traffic. That video of you almost getting hit from the right was scary, lol.
Looks like a solid build my friend! My Delta 14 stock for my M1A scout sqaud required alot of dremeling too. So it just comes with it regardless of the firearm but once its squared away its worth it!
