Gozer's Den ... I don't make videos often, and they are mainly about design and packaging rather than the music (so many knowledgable people out there that can talk more expertly as musicians)
I don’t believe this is a bootleg; everywhere seems to list it as an official release. Interestingly this LP featured 6 different album covers on international releases. Cool find!
First off. You rambling like an idiot is a complete impossibility. Your record descriptions have always been some of my favorites. <> I am familiar with the this album Tim. The music that is. Not this cover. Like everyone else my copy has the eye with Kate riding a kite beside the pupil. For that to be the rarest of the rarest for this pressing. It surely is a nice looking copy. Looks brand new. It couldn't have gone to a nicer guy. Stoked that you got to add it to your every growing Kate collection. Hope to see you posting some more when you get the time to do so Tim. No pressure. Hope you are enjoying the endless summer 24. So good to see you back~ Rob/Boston
Dear Gozer's Den, contrary to this video, I have a 60 year old vinyl album and the labels are coming off. If they were adhered as this video shows, then no adhesive was used in the first place. I assume they just did not get pressed deep enough into the vinyl to hold. What options do I have, if any, to get these labels back onto the record, nice and flat, without destroying the labels or, at best, having them look rough? I'm not sure how you will reply: to my email or here on RU-vid.
Lucky for you I'm about to upload a video so I actually checked this page. If I understand you correctly, if it didn't get pressed into the vinyl, then you'd probably have to glue it. Of course you'd want to be careful when you do that. Wondering if a spray glue (onto the back of the label) would work in this case?
@@ArtsyFartsyTimo After thinking about all the possible risks involved in trying to glue the labels to the vinyl, I've decided that the safest thing to do is to just remove the labels, keep them as flat as possible (they're starting to curl where they are coming off the record) and put them in an envelope. At least that way, they are preserved and not ripped or damaged. It's a classic album by The Shangri-las and I don't want to do anything that would result in damaging it.
IKEA products are a bunch of crap and a waste of money. Build your own out of real wood. And by the way never stack all the way up to the ceiling. That's horrowshow (from 976-CREOLEMAN)!
Looking at your Bob Marley albums makes me think about a Cheech & Chong album I once had. It's called Big Bambu. Interesting concept. Look it up. Also: Rick Wakeman's No Earthly Connection.
I once had vinyl where was RECORDED wrong song. I bought the same album because that one was broken.... and the new one had right song on it. Wish i could get another one with the same wrong song.. And i guess it could be actually worth more because of that manu fail.. Worst case if this was one of... i dunno 100 records that had mistake.. damn..
I remember having a copy of Black Sabbath’s “Master Of Reality” that glowed under UV. We were all pot smokers and acid droppers back then, and I assumed the record knew their audience and added the fluorescent dyes on purpose just for us!
Thank you ! I was looking for a solution for this problem. Online difference: I put the opening on the right side in stead of on the upper side, so I can take the record out without removing the sleeve 😉👍
I only do the first part of your video: cut it out. I then put it inside the sleeve or jewel case. When you stick it onto the outside of your protective sleeve or jewel case, it'll wear. And if you ever want to replace the sleeve or case you need to take it off again (which can become more difficult after a while).
I want to purchase J. Lo's new album (which is surprisingly very good) - the glow-in-the-dark vinyl but I see on RU-vid people say the quality of the music is bad. I am re-thinking my decision.
Okay but what if you’re purposefully trying to remove the label in order to use the vinyl record as an art piece? (It’s not a collectible just a random Christian album from a thrift store)
Won't the metal dowels gouge through the press-board shelves? When used for books, I've had to glue-screw two thicknesses of flat stir sticks (for paint) along gables for the shelves to sit on.
Tbh i think that some could be worth value as a collectors piece. If you are a mega rolling stones or pink floyd fan I could see wanting a unique record as a wall decoration just because its interesting and its from your favorite band
I got a 2007/2014 press of Depeche Mode Music For The Masses and it had the same double label as your Sandy Denny and the Strawbs album. I was able to keep mine in tact with some very very small tears on the outer edge by carefully using a knife to make a smooth cut along the outside. Now its in the jacket with the original record sleeve 😃
You say the shelves aren't designed to go on their sides... yet this is the way the instructions tell you to mount them if you use the underframe with a 4x3, 4x2 or 4x1 unit
Thank you for this video! I had a loose label on a new record from Amazon and thought it was one label and I'd have to find a way to glue it back down. I didn't know there was no adhesive. I ended up peeling it back like you did and found out there were two labels! Now the record is good as new
I bought the square unit’s cross insert, and use 1 insert in 1 kallax cube which act as a way to cut the kallax cube in half (so if records topple they don’t topple much) and I imagine adds support to the small shelves (I have a 2x4 kallax on the side)
