Hello Friends, Thank you for stopping by Tommy-Time. I enjoy working on small engines during my free time. I have started to sell them once i have made the necessary repairs. I usually fix lawn mowers as they are easily obtainable. I have also worked on generators, leaf blowers and weed eaters as well. I also have a small collection of motorcycles that constantly needs upkeep. My collection consists of the major Japanese brands as well as Triumphs and BMW. I hope my videos contain information that you find useful in your own repairs. Thanks for stopping by, Tommy Disclaimer: I am just a shade-tree mechanic that likes tinkering. Don't trust anything i do or say to be correct or reliable in anyway. Do your own research before attempting any repairs or modifications to your equipment.
Picked up a john deere js30 I need to check the flywheel key. But other than that I think a carb clean and maybe a cable for speed but wont know till I get it running.
Good job on getting the Toro up and running again!! I've lost a few springs too, just go flying off into never-never land!! I'm working on a landscapers chainsaws. Got his Echo cs400 going, needed a new carb, got a Stihl MS 250 that needs a recoil and carb up next, then an old Stihl 038 that needs a little cleanup. I don't mind working on the 2 stroke stuff, but I gave up doing carb rebuilds on them, easier just to replace.
I really like that Toro with the Vortex deck. I always drool over them when I go to dealer. Your big Bertha screw driver is nice. The wooden handle is classic.
For the same repair, adjust valves and sharpen balance blade with oil change is 78 plus air filter 7.00 est I also pressure wash top and bottom 😊 Really to cheap but it’s med money 😊😊
My neighbor, the junk hauler, picked up a 2021 Toro Recycler Vortex w/Smart Stow. It has a cast aluminum deck and the 725 engine on it. Owner said It wouldn't start. I pulled it twice and it fired up, but was billowing smoke from oil in the muffler. Let it run and fog up the 'hood for about 15 mins. and it was all good!! I cleaned it up and it's super nice looking, has a black metalflake paint job. I told my neighbor he should keep it instead of selling it as he has a 2008 Craftsman pusher. I've never seen one with a cast aluminum deck, really nice unit!!
@@angelicaconiguliaro3179 I told my neighbor he would be a fool to sell it. I tried to trade him 2 good mowers for it, but he decided to keep it and sell his old pusher.
Want to know what I do first with unknown power equipment ? I repair and resale all kinds of gas power equipment for profit, a part time extra income so to speak. I have a simple procedure, 1,2,3 things to do to figure what needs attention. In most cases, I can find the issue in under 5 minutes and then concentrate my efforts there. Many times, If i have a Carb issue and it looks pretty bad, I don't even clean them, if I can replace it for under $20.00. I save the old parts for another job. So, 1st, Fire it off on Either, if it does, go for Carb and fuel system clean out including lines, tank and filters. If not, 2nd is, check for spark, spark plug condition, likely a no spark condition is in the coil and sometimes in Ignition switch or associated wiring. So if all is good to this point, 3rd is check compression. With poor compression, I don't bother to tear down, I skip it and save the known good parts for other jobs and scrap the junk parts. If you get it running and it's not sounding right check the woodruff key on flywheel. That isn't so likely to be bad on a generator but often can be an issue on a lawn mower or any power equipment that could sustain a sudden shock to slow or stop engine movement. A bend key will trow the timing off and cause poor running even a No Start condition. That key is what "Times" the engine and it must be spot on, not bent or even missing as i found on occasions. This is assuming that you checked oil condition and level along with air cleaner as the first steps. Hope that gives any DIY people some assistance. I appreciated the video because I have a Robin EX30 that I am working on now that had the Governor rods and springs missing and the valves on it needed adjusted. I had little idea on where the springs went and I made the Governor rod from a Coat Hanger.
Philip, several cities in my area have outlawed scrapping because stuff that was not scrap was being taken out of yards, open garages etc. There's always someone who wrecks it for others.
Chainsaw time Tommy! I always liked those little Macs from Taiwan, 14,& 16" bars. Great for little limbs, up to 12" 'branches' & tops that blow off. : l Work. It's what's for dinner!
That Looks like an average Weather Day for here in Ireland. Or even a pleasant day, if the Rain is warm. In fact it's raining here as We speak. Have you no Wellingtons ? (gum boots) as you call them out there in the Colonies. Thankfully the work truck looks like there's no harm done 👍
