I did end of sighting it In, cut clover leafs in the end, with Winchester white box ammo. Doesn't matter any ways now since had to sell it to cover vehicle repair costs. Not that that helped dang truck died a week after that, and is now in the wreakers. Hard to get out with kid , wife , life. And have time to test out different ammos, sight everything in. Oh and cost of ammo, Doesn't matter any ways. Utube flagged me on a casting bullet video I had been working on making for about 6 months, and that just right defeated me, so idk what I'm even doing now. Anything gun related or reloading related has me second guessing everything and I never posted more on that before I ended up selling. I do as always appreciate any input that is/was given. They are hard cast my friend makes me. He powder coats them that way you don't need lube in the grooves. I forget the weight. I think they are 174 grain. They are most definitely a hunting round have dropped a few deer with them and one moose. But they were cheap so I also plinked with them. I cast my own now, since lead is free if you know were to get it. Tire shops for wheel weights, roofers , old pipes from old houses have lead for sealing the joints. Molds are cheap, and you really don't need much to cast your own. I use a small cast iron spoon, a msr camping stove and a bit of dowel to break open mold. Heat the lead in the spoon, pour into the mold, break open mold, Let cool, lube and load them up. Hard cast bullets will drop anything you hit, and cheap enough to plink with. Honestly ever since I got into hard cast it's all I use if I have a mold for that caliber. The secret is low volicity, in your loading manual use the lowest load or just a few grains powder more. If you push hard cast to fast it does weird stuff. Most my shots are complete pass thoughs with very little blood shot meat.they will punch though shoulders like butter on game and keep on going. Find a mold with a nice flat face bullet, err large metaplate. Pointy is not so much what you want in hard cast. Hopefully this is helpful. Best of lucks.

Yes I have put smaller bands with more taper. Those were the only bands I had at the time on me

I try not to mention the powder type ( 3031 4640 etc ) or weight because I don't want to get flaged ( yes you can get in trouble ) I have said to ppl when asked were I got the load info, lee loading book, and at low end of loading data. I honestly wish I could, also useing some one else's load can be dangerous if I was loading hot. My rifle could take it, but could theres ? I made a video to demonstrate how to use something, not load development. I'm sure some ppl.do, but I don't want to be responsible for damaging a person or a firearm. although I do agree, in future I'll mention if I used black power or smokeless. thank you for your input, I'll try and incorporate some of it in future, some I can't hope you understand. have a blessed day.

I used for a winchester 94. there is no real definite answer im afraid. Some ppl my self included will say it's fine. others will say no. the problem is the crimping, as most lever actions have a tube magazine the recoil will/can push the bullet into the case with recoil. you can crimp with these reloaders, takes practice, but most definitely can be done, some ppl don't realize you can crimp with it, leading to the argument that these are no good for lever actions. I personally never had a problem. I'm working on a small video on how to crimp with these reloaders. hopefully in a day or so. the little instructions that come with it does show how to crimp but it's not really well explained sadly. yes, they're fine for lever actions, but watch your crimping, is the short answer.

not at all, much too old and broken to even consider that, and when i was young, my focus in life was on other things. sort of wish i had , one the few jobs where you get a pension. I'd be retired now. why do you ask ? my backpack? was a good deal on eBay. i think like $25. It fits my budget. iv recently upgraded to a cabelas lumbar pack, man, it's sweet can pack a easy 3 days worth gear in it, and it rides so comfortable.

@binayrawat1866 ahhh. i used to do alot of hiking and nature watching, and well turned into hunting. although half the time hunting is just a excuse to get out and hike and camp away from the wife n kid lol i dont even shoot even if i see something half the time cause it would cut my trip time out, nothing worse then a week out to go hunting and shooting a deer on day 1 or 2 and then having to go home.

Has its advantages, like you said, very portable, Can take to the range and do load tweeking, only have 10 rounds, no extra brass but have bullets powder and primers, well can keep shooting all day, just reload off the back your truck, or pack in back pack to your favorite place in the bush, going hunting only have x amount of rounds and you missed, ( it happens ) can reload at night and keep going. or have a small space and want to get into reloading, its a good way to start, i some times reload at work while doing security ( sit in my truck for 8 hrs ) since takes up no room. yes, true can get the Lee Hand press also very portable but now need dies, decaper, and all the stuff. this is the very definition of k.i.s.s . With a bit of practice, you can get your loads just as good as on a press. small scale or use the lee dipper, and yes, you can crimp with these. i guess you'd call it a roll crimp. if anything, it's different and fun, and most definitely a conversation piece. some ppl collect them as alot of calibers have been discontinued or were a limted run or a custom caliber ( they used do that ) there is also shotgun sets. they work really good, i use them on both my bass shotshells and plastic. can grab them for $10 to $30 used. just use a rubber mallet not a hammer, and tap gently setting off a primer is exciting. i havent done that in over a yr now. practice practice.

i use the lowest load from the trap door data. ether varget or imr 3031. i dont want say the scoop. but if you have the book it will say. i dont use modern/marlin loads, only trap door loads and those drop everything iv ever hit no problems, most time though and though. i use hard cast 405 grain 335 hard cast hollow point, some special 500 and 600 grain ones also. mostly 405 hard cast, since i have the mold and endless lead from a tire shop. i rarely shoot over 200 yrds most time its 100 yrds or less. bit of a rainbow at 200 but at 100 i hold maybe a inch high and it smacks were i want then.

@alanvail4692 4064 is good also. iv used it when i couldnt get varget or imr 3036. i found the 4046 pressures were pushing a bit high for what i enjoy. becomes more of a kick then a push. personal preference is all there.

i believe i was using winchester large rifle magnum primers. i am currently using cci large rifle magnum primers. i use magnum primers just because i find i get a cleaner powder burn when using certain powders. like varget. i started using magnum primers when i ran out of large rifle primers one day, phoned all my older friends that reloaded, and asked if it was safe to use. they all said yes, i might get an extra 3 to 5 fps faster, not that i care about that as i reload most time at the lowest amount of powder i can use and maintain hitting a good group, by good i mean hunting good a 2 inch group. i might play around more with powder if trying to chase a really tight group, but i still use magnum primers. naturally, any and all reloading advice you get from me or anyone online should be x2 or even x10 verified before you attempt. i can only say what i use in my rifles at my own risk. but i do have all my fingers and face still, soooo take it as you will. happy shooting, my friend.

I'm going to do the exact same thing (I bought an SBL too and LOVE it), already have a large dedicated TT molle pouch ready to go for the press and all its accessories. Shame that Trailboss is unobtainium, no measurement needed - fill to the brim and compact the round in. 405gr round barely broke 950fps and very forgiving to shoot.

i use magnum primers on everything that uses a large rifle primer. i find it gives a better burn rate. also adds 2-5 fps if that matters. BUT, NEVER TAKE RELOADING ADVICE FROM PPL ONLINE. i do it because i ran out of large primers once and called a few way more experienced reloaders i know, and they said it was safe , so i did it. but i made many many calls before i did it. and a lot of google searches. so im not going to say do it 100%. I'm just going to say i do it and never have had a problem personally. im sure someone out there will say holy sheep poop my friend did that, or a friend of a friend did it, and his rifle blew up. I'd call bull poops on that and say they messed up some were else, and there is no way that primer caused that. but someone will definitely say that poop happened, about all i can say. also stores seem to always have magnum primers in stock and some times really cheap just to move them out the store , sort of a nice bonus if you do decide to use em.

No small rifle primers will not fit 3006 cases

hello. i tend to ramble on, so sorry in advance. So, it's not a really big science in it. can be as simple or complicated as you want to make it, i mean right down to half a grain and .001 differences in bullet seating, or can make it simple, oal of the round is say 3.25 if its 3.20 or 3.35 it probably be fine for hunting and punching paper for fun, if your trying to stack rounds on top each other its going to get a bit complicated, but that can come later and it come surprisingly easy after you have the basics down for a few months and your comfort level and knowledge grows. to keep it easy, buy a reloading book, follow it for your loads, start at the low end, and work your way up. if the low end says use 30 grains of X type of power start there, make a few test to see if your firearm likes it, if not bump it up a grain or two try again, thats the fun part of load development. finding that perfect load for that firearm, and you can have two rifles, same make and model, but each one will like a different load. i like the classic loader because i can load in the field when testing out a new bullet or powder or the leee hand loader, ( takes dies, basically a portable press ) or i want to shoot all day but only have 20 brass, so i can shoot the 20 then reload the 20 and keep going all day. i like the dippers from Lee , which makes it easy, and surprisingly, they are very, very close to weighing it out once you get good with them. never compress the powder if using the dippers. just a gentle scoop of the powder, then level it off with a bit of paper or whatever, dont use a finger as you will compress the powder, and well, bad things can happen. i generally make a dummy bullet following the book specs and see how it loads, then ill take another case and put a bullet in it and chamber it, the act of chambering the round will push the bullet into the case and you will be right on the rifle lands, bump it back maybe .03 or .05, so you're just off the lands, and you have your bullet seating depth. You can also see how much of a difference between the book and your rifle there is. sort of fun to see. I had a few rifle were iv had to seat the bullet really, really deep, so it would chamber. Always check your primer after that first shot and see if it's been smashed flat or not. smashed flat can be too much powder or head spacing problem where the case is being slamed back into your bolt. but honestly, just follow the k.i.s.s rule, and you'll be fine. ( Keep it simple stupid. K.i.s.s ) i personally like simple, much less to go wrong, and im shooting for fun and hunting i dont need to stack rounds on wach other, 1 inch groups at 100 yrds is all i need. i rarely hunt over that, and for paper punching or target fun, that is good nuf for me. sorry to ramble on, late night shift, and this writing has killed some time. best of luck on your reloading journey, oh i was shooting those 30-30s out my old 1976 winchester, zero problems. some those winchesters have a shallow throat ( mine did ), so I'd chamber a dummy round to see how deep to seat the bullet. i assume you have calipers to check.

yes, good eye. It definitely was not on the crimp line, and you inadvertently bring up a good point why ppl should never copy reloading from utube. the bullet is seated to my rifle ( henry single shot ), where it is just kissing the lands because this rifle has a long throat. if i was reloading for my lever action, i would have crimped, which you can do on this reloader. once bullet has been made, you flip it over and put it in where the seating stem goes, and give it a few taps, and it roll crimps nicely. this bullet, however, seats tightly and is fine for my single shot. sometimes the bullet is a tad small, and i will give it a fast crimp. i really should show how to crimp with this loader as iv been asked before. again, good eye.

Henry single shot in 45-70. not the brass receiver one, sadly. had one of those but sold it ( life happens ), and the cartridge holder was from Amazon. like $32 canadain. in left side. there always for sale on there. most time on the first page of items if type in leather cartridge holder. should see it.

i dont think so. 45-70 has that big ol rim, and the rim fits into the bottom of the die. bushmaster doesn't have that big rim because it was made to fit the AR platform ( magazines ). I dont see it ending well trying to reload with that set of dies. if your trying reload on the cheap or stay portable look into the lee hand loader, its a portable press single stage, there about $50 canadain and the dies are about the same, and a set of bushings are like $3.99 so you would be all in for around $120 canadain depending were you bought it. i have one, and it's nice for taking to the range and making up loads, or for calibers, i only have a few brass for. shoot, reload my bass shoot more. It's fast once you get used to it. ie prime everything, powder in all the cases, place bullet in all them, press in place, crimp. an assembly line, basically. once set up, i averge 10 rounds a min, but im flying and have been using it for years. i tend to stick with the rule of dont load calibers rifle not chambered for, and dont try reloading with dies not ment for the caliber. keeps it safe and simple. sorry for long post. best of luck and happy shooting

i flare it. some my casts have boattail.then indont have to. just depends what im useing.my 600gr , 550gr and 450gr i have to flare. my 400gr, 350,300 gr have boat tails and just slide in nicely. to flare i use a socket and give a small tap with my mallet, gives a nice uniform flare.
