Muchas gracias por esta ayuda. Sobre todo, cuando se trata de medicamentos. Es lo primero que debemos almacenar. Muy amable el joven y espontáneo. Un saludos!
Thanks I've never fallen in to 'consumer' mend and make do was something I was proud of , but lately collecting is my safety. You've inspired me to actively learn more again. While RU-vid and list making are great I'd also add 'ways to communicate' in my defense too, as it's an area I need to build on.
“Being a chemist… I’ll just teach ya “ Being an epidemiologist and virologist … that made little sense. Are you a mathematician as well? Making you a true expert in measurements! Yes I’m being a cynical smart ass. But i thought you were about to drop some chemical warfare knowledge…. Or ??
Some larger bags are good you will be using the food stores as time goes by and replacing with fresh stock. Not to mention the barter potential of having beans someone else may have dried veggies to swap or canned meats maybe food for ammo
DO NOT EVER put the wick directly into the can! What you are telling people here is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! NEVER - EVER - burn a candle inside the Crisco containers - the outside is made of CARDBOARD lined with THIN FOIL and other brands have tubs of PLASTIC - they can CATCH FIRE!
Love to join!! Got three grown boys with some great skills, there ladies who got some too. I'm youngest of 6 boys 2 girls and let me tell ya I can hunt, clean etc. Just really would like the boys to have some help since their dads aren't in their lives and should be ashamed. My oldest boy is looking out for momma😥I'm so proud!! Thanks a bunch!!
Also would like to ask previous because I live in an apartment and I would store it under my bed , any advise ? And don’t have mice so I have plastic bins no gamma lids would it be garantes quality and long term durability, thanks
Two questions one can I put the Mylar bags sealed in beans since I don’t have mice inside a plastic bin and 2 can I have flour as dry beans without freezing them for three days to kill bugs before packaging it?
If you look around on You Tube you will see that most people freeze their rice for a couple of days then another couple of days to get it back to room temperature. This kills the bugs and eggs. Then you can store it the same way as this video.
@@The_Healing_Facilitator Did you use O2 absorbers? If you did then any bugs won't hatch. The freezing is an added layer of protection and such a pain! I would say that at some point you could toss the mylar bag in the freezer for 3 days, then open it and let it come to room temperature and repackage it. I wouldn't stress about doing it now but if you buy more then do it and write on the bags that it was frozen first.
@@The_Healing_Facilitator Exactly. The worse case is there are some bugs in the bag. If you need the food you cam pick the bugs out or just cook them because we eat bugs in our food all the time and just don't know it.
I bought some of these exact bags from Amazon (except in the half gallon size). Never did this before so should be fun. All my beans and rice are in the freezer now to kill any bugs. Was going to put 2-100cc absorbers into them. It's just me and my husband so I figured 1/2 gallon would be big enough. These seem to be very nice bags. I'm going to try sealing mine with a hair straightener that has a digital display of the temperature. I've seen these used often and they tend to be a lot easier than a standard iron.
Hello. Thought I would let you know the oxygen absorbers will prevent any bugs from surviving and will prevent larva from hatching. In fact most of these bugs that live in grain and rice and survive freeze thaw cycles. If you look it up you will find this to be true. That's why using mylar bags and oxygen absorbers are so perfect. Easy, simple, and hits all the checkbooks for storing grains long term.
Who else cringed when he did the second crimp on the first bag. I thought for sure it was folded over. I’m sure he knows better, but the wrinkles in the crimp sure make it seem unsealed.
I'm with you on that. To me , just my opinion:: I don't think that I would trust that (perfect) seal. And I vacuum seal all my stuff , mainly because I have to keep everything as small as I can.. My home is really small. Take care and stay safe.
How long does it take for all of the air to get out of the bag with new oxygen absorbers? I sealed three or four big bags with plenty 1000cc oxygen absorbers (2-3), and a day and half later is still seems to have a decent amount of air in the bag.
Carlos G oxygen only makes up a certain percentage of the air. there will still be other gases in the bag but the absorbers will take care of the oxygen.
Our family just started prepping. We chose the same bags you demoed on this informative video. Thanks for the tips. I've heard of people using foodgrade desiccant packs also, with the oxygen absorbers, just can't put them close to one another, you think those would help? What if you took another step and vacuum sealed your beans, rice, pasta, etc. in the plastic foodgrade bags and then added a oxygen absorber to it, sealed it, and then sealed that in a mylar bag?
*I FOUND OUT MOST DRY BEANS ARE TOXIC AND MUST BE COOKED BEFORE CONSUMPTION. I DIDN'T KNOW THIS AT FIRST. BUT THAT IS SOMETHING EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW. COOK THEM AND RINSE THEM WELL BEFORE EATING TO BE SAFE. Soaking alone without cooking does not get rid of toxins from my research
Question: I've seen them freeze flour to kill bugs, then vacuum seal it. I'm vacuum sealing dry black eye peas. Is there a need to freeze the dry beans before vacuum sealing them? Thank you.
