I'll never understand how a promoter and the fans that fellate him so much can hate a fighter so much when he has a record of 19-2, with wins over fighters like Robbie Lawler, Douglas Lima and Shinya Aoki and can talk to the media like he does. Dude has only 2 losses - one which obviously was a flash knockout - and he's treated like he has 20 losses on his record. There are fighters in the GOAT discussions that have more losses than Askren has.
I know people love to clown on Ben Askren, but it was just one flying knee. Maybe I just look at it from a different standpoint. Was Askren’s striking good? Absolutely not. Was his wrestling good? Big yes, to the point where he might’ve been able to challenge Khabib there. Askren had his own weaknesses, but back in his prime, he was a legitimate threat. Dana intentionally signed him to make the biggest embarrassment out of him as possible. Have him waste his prime in Bellator, come back as an older man out of his peak and then get embarrassed, and then harass Ben about it every day since it happens since it’s one of the biggest highlights UFC shows. I’m not even sure if Askren would’ve won a title, but we were robbed of seeing what Askren could’ve truly become because of the dickhead that is Dana White. Fuck Dana White!

The best thing about Ben Askren coming to the UFC was that the fastest knockout in UFC history came with it. Regardless how you feel about the 'trade'. The UFC still made the best of it by feeding him to Masvidal🤣
