Hey Rocco! I have cleaned everything like you do in the video, but when I test to spray, pushing the rod in to the diaphragm, it only squirts from the bottom hole, not from the nozzle. I have cleaned the nozzle like you do and put it back together, but how do I clean the "channel" between the two squirting holes? I believe it is clogged somewhere between. And also, the bottom hole is slightly more to the middle and not so close as on your carburetor. Any tips? It feels like I am almost on the finish line to get the bike to work now! :)
I used compressor and just check it from a to B one hole to the other and you should be all right for the back together and give it a couple minutes for the gas to fill up where the Diaphragm is and make sure your diaphragm works when you test it all right let us know how it works out
@@TwoWheelRocco it worked! Some carb cleaner, some air, repeat. So the nozzle sprays as it should, but now I'm back to my previous problem, the idle and the air fuel mix screw. I have cleaned everything(!) but it only goes on full choke. 😮💨 About to give up
How do I take the rear brake caliper off? Somehow it was put on without being slid over the rear bolt and I didn’t know it and of course the rear brakes didn’t work on my way home from work.
Happy to help you will need to remove your rear wheel reinstall caliper and then reinstall the rear wheel. I know it’s a foolish foolish set up. Let us know how it works out. Ride safe have a great day.
Thanks Dad! Going to try replacing my cable tonight. The old one seemed to be stretching and I think its about to break. Afraid to ride it again until I put this new cable on.
@@chrispedersen2526 happy to help any questions just ask sometimes we buy these cables and they’re out of China and they just too tight to decide where the spring is. I tried to remove that grommets so I’ll have adjustment in the handle when they’re not right you’ll have no adjustment and I just don’t feel right, any questions questions just ask. Thank you for all your support Chris.
Hey Rocco. Your videos have saved me hours of troubleshooting! I have a 04 Sportster 883 custom with Screaming Eagle pipes and Stage 1 intake. The idle jet is stock (42). I've cleaned it and it idles better, but it stalls after releasing the throttle. My guess is throw a 45 idle jet and adjust the air/fuel screw (currently at 2.5 turns). Any thoughts? Cheers
Happy to help I would start with the air fuel. What do you have? It said that I would set you know quarter turn and make it a little richer and you should resolve that problem before I would put a 45 jet in it. Let us know how that I'm gonna send you a video of putting three washes under the float.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G1XD0hHtwCw.htmlsi=06QZX-5r_kcs3qs9. Any questions just ask. Happy to help when it breaks all the way you cannot create pressure. You'll hear the pump wine, but the bike will not start. Thank you for watching and all your support. Drive safe and have a great day easy fix.
Love your channel and newd your help please. 03 1200 Sportster xl custom anniversary. Pulled the carn loose but not off. Left thr throttle cables and fuel line hooked up. Swapped out thr low jet from 42 to 45 to try to grt rid of the spit/cough off idle. Repalced the air fiel screw with the aftermarket one you can adjust by hand. Was careful to get the runber and small washer out and out thr new one in with the washer on top of the spring and thr rubber washer on top of that on that screw. Out it back together and won't start. Repaced the fuel pump diaphragm and still won't start. . So I out the old parts all back in and still won't start. Had fuel. It ran like a champ before minus that cough at low idle when I twist the throttle occasionally. Bike came from sea lavel to 1000ft elevation so i thought upping the jet would help. I tested the bowl and imulsion tube or whatever you call the squirt tube that squirts gas when you twist throttle. I'm at a loss. Any thoughts. Everything else on this bike is 100% stock. Main thing is thst i can turn and turn the engine then take the bowl off and its still dry. I replaced the gasket o ring it mounts on. Tried putting the old one back on and still a dry bowl. Again. Bike ran great so either ive done something accidentally or the spme dirt got lodged inside somewhere with me messing with it maybe? Lost. Why don't i get fuel to the bowl now!? Ugh.one last detail. There is a Y on the vacuum line on thr back top of the carb on mine. One laeger tube goes into the carb and the other seems tk just hang there. I don't see a place to hook it too which seems like it would negate the vacuum attached to it provides but i pkugged it with my finger and still no start.
Happy to help I would start with the Petcock usually the vacuum diaphragm fails and that is your fuel supply. Will send you a video on how to test it. Thank you for watching and all your Brent. @@TwoWheelRocco Figured it out right after I sent it. You are right. That little vacuum line plugs onto the barn on the bottom of the fuel petcock. It broke off flush as I pulled the carb off the head and I didn't realize it was hooked on over there. Plugged that in and it fired right up. A little adjustment on the air fuel screw and it seems like I got rid of the cough . Thanks for the fast reply and all your content brother.
Happy all went well. Those lines get old and they crack check them all. Problems and waiting. I'm happy to hear that all worked out. Thank you for all your support Philip. Ride safe and have a great day.
Happy to help. I'll send you a video on how to test the Petcock notorious for the diagram to fail and the flow of fuel gets interrupted or free flowing. Both are bad they start the leak through the vacuum line that operates that diaphragm so when you start the bike up, it runs rich and bad. The other problem is, I won't have no fuel from the fuel house. Hope this helps any questions. Just ask.. Thank you for watching and all your support. I will send you a video of it to Sportster, but it's the same test for your VTX..ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7Fo9Q93OJXI.htmlsi=zTrCGrdy5IKGdM5B
Happy to help. Yes it's normal for that chatter on those Sportster motors. I think it's one of its short falls. But does not affect the running of the motor some more noisy than others. Thank you for watching and all your support Brian. big V twins I think could be noisy too . Drive safe and have a great day.
Happy to help that's a Holly Davison dealer part. Hey Rocco I have bled my brakes quit a few times and it’ll be fine at first then after riding for about 5 minutes or so they gradually get softer and softer until it’s almost non-existent. What could be the issue? Is there still air trapped in? Or maybe it’s an issue with the caliper? You did say at one point that if the fluid gets below a certain line in the master cylinder that air could get trapped in and I unfortunately let my get too low a couple times while bleeding so maybe that’s the issue?
Happy to help. Sounds like a bad master cylinder. It will not hold the pressure. Replace. Thank you for watching and all your support. Ride safe and have a great day. And let us know how it works out.
Happy to help. Somebody lost them and just put it on with the circles with the without the brass pieces. One day I might come back to bite you in the butt. Ride safe have a great day.

@@TwoWheelRocco sure will, I have to replace the back tire and had watched that video first. I got a 2000 Sportster 1200 custom and because of you I've been able to do my own work on other occasions. Hey Rocco, first off, thank you so much for all your videos-they’ve been incredibly helpful! I have a 2003 Sportster XL1200S that I bought three months ago. It had been sitting for years and only had 49 miles on it when I got it (now it’s at 65 miles). Since it had been sitting for so long, I expected the carb would need cleaning. The bike starts, but only with the choke on. To rule out a carb issue, I bought a cheap Chinese-made carb from Amazon, but the bike had the exact same issue with the new carb. I sprayed brake cleaner on the intake manifold and noticed the idle would drop (and eventually stall if I sprayed enough). So, I replaced all three intake manifold seals, but didn’t use a torque wrench since I couldn’t access it without removing the tank and petcock assembly. Now, when I spray brake cleaner on the manifold, the idle doesn’t drop anymore, so I assumed the intake leak was fixed. Is it still possible that there’s a leak, even though the idle no longer changes when I spray the brake cleaner? The tank is rust-free, it has fresh 91 octane fuel, a fully charged battery, and a new carb. What would you recommend I check next? Appreciate your advice in advance!
Seems like you have this under control. The first thing I would test would be the Petcock. I'll send you a video. Let us know how that works out. Thank you for watching and all your support. Happy to help take a screwdriver and slowly open it if it's been sitting for years, maybe for a little penetrating oil, but do not cut the piston angle because that will jam it. If all fails, Crack the bleeder valve and try to expand those brake caliper pistons. Hope this helps. Thank you for all your support. Ride safe and have a great day.

For anyone attempting to do this yourself... do it EXACTLY as he has presented and you'll be good to go. There is no easier, or simpler, shortcut for changing out the neutral switch. The 1 7/8" socket can be bought as a single unit, or you can buy a set of impact sockets off Amazon, for not much more than the single. I bought a 1/2" drive set of 4 different impact sockets for $35 - I used a battery powered Ridgid 18v 1/2" impact wrench and it worked perfect for the sprocket nut.
Happy to help. The safety neutral switch is just that replaced that switch and you will not have to pull the clutching. Thank you for watching all your support Dave. Ride safe and have a great day.
Happy to help. Sounds like your ignition is bad taking it apart unplugged it and see if the lights all shut off replace the ignition. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching and all your support Andy. Ride safe and have a great day.
Exactly what I thought when it happened. Bought a new ignition switch and replaced the old one. Placed the main fuse in after installing and still had lights and neutral light on. 😅😢😢
Just started to try fixing and old Sportster 1200 that hasn't been in traffic for decades. I'm not a mechanic so it's just trial and error and your videos really helps! Thanks!!
@@TwoWheelRocco Plenty of questions, but one step at a time! Just ordered a new petcock and hopefully that will make it start without start gas spray. 💪🏽
@@TwoWheelRocco so I cleaned the tank, changed petcock, bought and mounted a new battery, filled her up with premium gas. Started with start gas spray and got her running as long as I throttle a little. After a few start ups I didn't need the spray and she started on full choke, but on idle she dies. Watched your other clips about issues so I located the the idle screw(?) and tweaked back and forth just man guessing (it's a swedish term for not actually knowing how to). So it got both better and worse but not so she worked without a little throttle. I have a sportster från 1997 and the petcock doesn't have a vacuum hose, is there something else I can do or another screw to tigthen or loosen up or is it in the carburateur the problem is? Thanks!
