Photography, Videography, Vintage Cameras, Old Cameras, Film, 35mm, New Cameras, you name it I shoot it, and will share it you with you on my brand new channel! If it is about making photos than I will cover it!
Hey Matt, thanks for this video. I have the EOS 650 and the EOS 10S - both of which my dad gave to me. I honestly can't remember which one came first. I used them so much many, many years ago. I only shot them in Auto mode. But I loved them and loved the photos I got from them. I would shoot travel, family and friends, as well as nature and sports. I got good images from them in auto. I have been through a lot of digital cameras since then and I love all of them. I have an Olympus OMD-Em 5 and I love it - it takes great photos! But anyway, I want to get back into shooting some film so I will pull those Canons out of my tub o'cameras and give them a try. Thanks for sharing info on this camera because it has been so long I can barely remember how to load the film. I need to look up what batteries they use. But I just wanted to say thanks!
@@juligonzalez686 you’re welcome! They are fun cameras, can be easy to use, and take fantastic photos! Get out and shoot! The eos 650 uses a 2cr5 battery if I recall. Tip on that is remove the battery, or just unscrew the battery cover a little bit. Otherwise it tends to drain it a little fast and they are not the cheapest battery out there.
I’m really impressed with the handheld video stabilization, for the E-PL10. It is super, especially considering it was introduced in 2018! Still, the rolling shutter and other wobbles in the frame, (rolling shutter), ate pretty hard to ignore. What is the stabilization like on this one in comparison to the EP-7? Better, worse or just about the same? How many stops of stabilization is the camera rated for vs EP-7? I am seeing it is significantly cheaper used, ($400), than an analogous EP-7 (~$750.), so I’m wondering what other drawbacks this one has vs the EP-7.
I never concern myself over the stabilization aspects of a camera, it is always just a bonus if I find it stabilizes well. I look for ergonomics, function, photo quality first. I have never used the ep-7 so I cannot really compare, but I do see that the E-PL10 has 3.5 stops of stabilization where the EP-7 has 4.5. The E-P7 is a newer camera with newer sensor, higher megapixel, etc.. Olympus is confusing (for me) with their naming conventions. Hope this helps! Thanks for commenting
I am here for the photography and enjoy your style of presentation. I like some ebike footage. B-roll of you rolling, lol, is nice but hope you don’t get into wrenching or repairing and remain more photography centric. Anyway peace from Victoria, Canada. Oh yeah by the way I sympathize with how you feel about winter I lived in Edmonton Alberta.
@@MrGarrych yeah your winters are worse than mine lol! No I won’t get into the e-bikes like that at all. It will still be all photography. With an occasional e-bike reference.
I love my A7C. I keep trying to talk myself into upgrading to the A7Cii or A7CR but if I'm being honest with myself, this camera does way more than I need it for. Will have this camera for a very long time.
I agree, it was a great purchase choice on my part. I have come to find that you do not need the latest and greatest camera body, while it is nice granted, the glass is much more important. While I loved my X-T5 and what Fuji does, I was never 100% happy with it, the whole Film Simulation aspect of it sounded great, and it did produce some amazing JPG's right out of camera, and if I ever want to ONLY shoot JPG then I might buy another Fuji. In the meantime I will take my Sony, the images I find, are just so good, more of what I expect from a digital camera, clinical almost, which is what I want from a digital. If I want character, soul, and feeling I will shoot film :D. Thanks for commenting!
Oops sorry. My bad. The video looks great on that E-PL10. The sound is pretty good too. I won’t even bother with an external mic. Not a vlogger. Did you say what lens you’re using. It looks bigger than a standard 14-42mm EZ
Oh I just figured out your lens. It’s the older standard size 14-42mm. I like that one as well. I can get my hand on it and actually use it. EZ only for travel. Just didn’t recognize it at first because of the chrome nose ring and filter. 💁🏻♀️ ツ
Great choice (A7c)...I have a pair of them...I use them mostly for street shots here in my retired home of Bangkok....( I am an American)...E bikes are Kool!! cheers
@@crosseagle19 I use Lightroom or Photoshop to work with my raw photos. There are other programs out there that can as well. But those are the only two I use.
@@TheDelightJones DJI wireless mics, R0DE Wireless, Neewer makes a set for a good price. Just make sure anything you get has internal recording otherwise you will need to connect the receiver to either a phone, or an audio recorder. If you have later model iPhone they have really good internal mics that can work in a pinch. Not sure about other phones though. Quick google search can yield some good results on what to buy and how to use them.
@@MattRyanPhoto55 A small word of caution: take it easy on the winder. It's the only part to ever wear out on mine ... and the leather case, sorry to say. I especially enjoyed how it was so ergonomically designed. I should dig it out and see how the various lenses are. I remember an 80(?)mm tele and a 35mm wide with an extra viewfinder. Might even have the closeup lens set with moving rangefinder. I should confess it's a III "small c".
Yeah finding the correct rodenstock 35mm and 80mm lenses for mine is a challenge, I found some but they were crazy priced. Yeah I try to take it easy on everything on this camera. And III little c's are fantastic as well.
Thanks! I have been very happy with it. To be honest I do not think I have been displeased with any Nikon film camera yet. I have around 5 or 6 of them and they are all fantastic machines, even the EM, that little basic camera is fun to photograph with. Thanks for watching!
I love my PM-2 as much as any of my top end cameras. Its thr red one. And it makes me smile to use. And thats what counts right, especially when image quality also is good enough!?
I will be back to this area, I really loved Bayfield, gave me a feeling of being on a costal town again. Not sure I will go back to Washburn though, there was not much there. Any advice for some good towns or place along the lake is always appreciated! Thanks for watching
You should, it's a great camera, worth it. I got mine in a "kit" well backpack to be exact, with about 12 rolls of expired but still good (freezer stored) film, 5 lenses and a Canon G10! I like it better than the FA even though the FA is much more advanced. I did not like how the advance lever has to stick out on the FA for it to be on. Kind of annoying, trivial but enough to where it was a little uncomfortable and made me sometimes choose something else to take photos with over it. The F3 has an actual On/Of switch and the advance lever can be flush.
The Rodenstock lenses aren't really rare. That's a myth driven by USA buyers. Kodak had both Schneider-Kreuznach and Rodenstock supplying lenses for them because of high demand. I own both and the lens quality is exactly the same.
@@tmstone835 I have it directly from Dr. David Jentz, a historian and author on the Retina cameras that 5% or less of this serial number IIIC had Rodenstock lenses.
I just managed to find a non working QL19 in a charity shop for £40, I'm going to see if i can get it going and see if i can shoot some film with it. Its got the common stuck shutter issue so im hopeful
Sorry for some of the video quality issues, I edited this video on my Windows laptop and some of the video was HEVC from my Action 2 camera, and for some reason once I bought and installed the HEVC codecs it did a terrible job encoding them. Normally I use my Mac which does a way better job.
I've just bought it for £7. Intrigued being the first EOS. And yeah that 50mm will be tried. Not used film since I was a kid so I'm looking forward to it.
Thanks for a very informative video. I'm a recent returnee to photography and chose the TG-7 to dip my toe into street photography - my reason being that it would fit in my pocket and not be too obtrusive (in another review the photographer said that the colour of the TG-7 makes you look like a tourist). Yes, it has limitations. My iPhone 15 Pro would beat it to death in a specs streetfight, but I find the physical act of setting up and taking pictures with the phone to be awkward and clumsy. The 'point and shoot' nature of the TG-7 suits me just fine. I'm still getting to grips with it and enjoying discovering and experimenting with all the cool features it has. Yes, there are better cameras, but it's still pretty cool. Just subscribed and looking forward to seeing more of your content.
I can’t stand using my phone for photos. I will use a 5 mega pixel digicam before using my phone for going out and taking photos lol. The tg-7 making you look like a tourist is from a video I’ve seen as well, you can do good with the camera so enjoy it and have fun! Thanks for the sub!
All you need from what I understand is the Imaging Edge Webcam software from Sony, looks like it only runs on Windows though. Also Zoom should work with it. You have to have the camera connect to the computer via USB. I personally have not tried it, this is just from a quick Google search.
@@MattRyanPhoto55 I tried this, yes the camera displays the live feed from camera in imaging edge app, but I am unable to use the camera in zoom and meet app in windows
I have been using a IIIc as my main camera for a while now and it is always a joy to use. The quality of the photos it produces is reliably astounding.
Sorry for not responding sooner, for some reason YT put your comment in the Held for Review section. It was good enjoyed it, I will be back out there next year for it. You ever find the camera meetup group was taking about?
Just found your video after purchasing a black MG-1 in excellent condition. Great job! It’s been quite the week for me. It started with me falling in love with a Electro 35 GSN, then finding an original Electro 35, then an Electro 35 MC and now the MG-1. Paid €30-40 per camera, all in top condition. So I guess I’m a collector now? 😂
I generally use Final Cut Pro, or Davinci Resolve. Final Cut is pretty easy to use, but costs a little bit. Davinci Resolve has a free version that is amazing but harder to use.
Hi! If you had to pick between the GM-1 and the Electro 35 GSN, which would you choose? I'm searching for a cheap but reliable viewfinder at the moment. Cheers!
Incredible images and spectacular camera! So happy theres folks, at least one, that can service these cameras. Truly a gem! Great video, thanks for sharing!
Thanks! It’s really a pleasure making photos with this camera. I have another Retina, a IIa that I am going to send in to get cla’d at some point. It’s smaller and has the film advance on the top and it is actually wrapped in real leather versus most cameras which are using leatherette (vinyl I think)
You can find them in great shape online but they tend to go for a few hundred+. My opinion, well worth it. I have a IIa I bought for $50 that I am going to send out for CLA soon.
Thank you so much for this video! Super helpful :) My girlfriend just gifted me this camera but the LCD is broken so seeing what all the options are/do when you click through the buttons is a lifesaver
